Thanks for that - always great to hear from a fellow Aucklander on how to get it done - its part of my upgrades to come this year for my 156 :-)

You should join the AROCNZ club and Facebook group if you haven't already! I'm also planning on replacing the stock speakers as they are very worn out now

I hope so! The key is to buy the right kit online and then the job is quite easy. These old cars are designed to have their stereos replaced not like modern cars.

Tip: you don't need a special tool to remove the original radio, I removed mine with a set of Allen key, I think the diameter of the holes is 3mm. So it works with small Allen keys
@inanitas4 жыл бұрын
Did you use 4 of them or did you do one hole after another?

for this job I recommend buying a bluetooth adapter that replaces the cd audio, this way you can keep the original look and just use your phone as a media. It is just 10x easier and cheaper, adapter itself is 30€ and it takes about 5 minutes to install.
@LueysGarage4 жыл бұрын
Yes this is a good idea, except I really dislike having bluetooth on for my phone haha

@@LueysGarage its up to you mate but a phone is better than any car entertainment system. I think the 147 is a collectible car and it can only go up in value and preserving its originality is important. The repair videos got me here and I love how raw your videos are, very informing I love them. I will definitely do the heatshield for ECU.

@@FrankishKnight I agree its important to keep them as original as possible. I've still got the original stereo and its very easy to put it back in if needed :)

how did you install the cabels, i tried 3 different and no one started, all three work in other cars, but when I connect the alfa iso cables, they don't work, only original starts, all of them have iso adapters, any suggestions?

Have you got the Bose stereo? Also check the wiring diagrams online to make sure you've got the right connections

Great explanation mate! Unfurtunately the link to the kit doesn't work anymore, do you know any alternatives? :)

I bought it from this store so maybe you can ask if they have more? They seem to have double DIN kits just not single DIN www.ebay.com/usr/dynamicsounds00?_trksid=p2047675.l2559

How you managed to fit it all the way in? Mine goes in up to a point

Yeah so I noticed later on that this headunit is actually quite shallow, that might have contributed to being able to get it installed flush

@@LueysGarage I removed the metal frame eventually. It went all the way in and used a drop of glue to stabilise it

I am looking to install a double din into a GT. Previous owner pulled it out due to battery drain. I'm a but worried about the same, withthe constant power issue.
@LueysGarage4 жыл бұрын
If you install it correctly with the correct harness there shouldn't be any power drain as the stereo will completely turn off with the ignition. I know a lot of people decide to just wire it up or create their own harness and that's where some potential issues can occur. I recommend buying the proper kit off eBay, it saves you tons of time too. Haven't had any issues at all after installing my stereo

Yo man i got a question! I got an alfa 147 1.6 TS My normal radio works fine, but when i want to put in an aftermarket radio, it doesn't work or turn on, any idea what it could be?
@LueysGarage3 жыл бұрын
Most likely you've got your wiring wrong. Did you get a stereo to ISO adapter and then an Alfa to ISO adapter so everything is converted to ISO? We found that the ignition and constant 12V were around the wrong way so you probably just need to check for power etc and make sure they are going to the right pins.

Hi mate, I've got a 147 1.6 as a first car but it came with the rear middle seat belt broken. Do u know any way I can take out the tensioner out from inside the rear middle seat? Thanks

I'm not sure sorry, haven't taken the seat belts off. I imagine it must be just a bunch of bolts to undo

The white/black wire on the green plug is the boss amplifier turn on (12v) wire.
