This car is what I have been waiting for since I bought a Spring Green Cloverleaf more than 20 years ago. I'm on my fifth Alfa now, Brera S, and have loved them all. There is something about Alfas that you rarely get with other cars.... They have problems, but they are special and hardly ever let you down in a big way. This car is so pure but modern at the same time. Alfa will rise to be the best car company in the world, but still they will only sell a few thousand a year!

The big question though has to be whether you would buy one over the equally gorgeous but infinitely better built, better all-rounder, the Porsche Boxster. For me that wouldn't even make a fair fight. That's like Mike Tyson fighting Barry McGuigan! Both amazing fighters but would you really have to guess the outcome?

Equally gorgeous? Not by a million light years. Of course that's my subjective opinion. Better all-rounder? Definitely! Better built? I'm not so sure. Looking at customer satisfaction indexes, the big germans are not on top. However, german cars in general are usually good machines that delivers good performance. But they do lack that famous "soul" that very few manufacturers can deliver. German cars are soulless but reliable aluminium boxes with wheels and good performance IMO. They deliver on your expectations but not beyond. Not very exciting. Italian cars, including Alfas, delivers something that money can't buy. A non-tangible sensation that has to be experienced to understand it. If you can't "feel it" you're not a driver, you just happen to like cars. That's my 2 cents :)

Sometimes you look at a beautiful woman long enough and her attractiveness fades in short order. The exterior styling of the 4C gets better the longer you stare at it.

Agree, it's probably for somebody looking to fill the third spot in their three-car garage and in that respect, the 4C would be massively appealing. The upcoming 4C Spider even more so. I never thought a 1742cc engine could sound this good!

And the fact it's a Sunday Driver makes it a bad thing? You do not understand.... Of course it is a second (or third or fourth) car, but that is its big appeal!!!! Would be compromised otherwise - overweight, ruining its reason to be.

only one thing would make this a true classic....a real five or six speed manual transmission. a real stick with no computer or servo mechanism between the engine and the diff. totally driver controlled. why oh why alfa didn't you give us that option?

Hi Sam, It's a new aluminium engine - which is also appearing in the new Alfa Romeo Giulietta Quadrifoglio Verde. So, no, it's not a JTS engine.

Auto Trader Is more and less the same engine that 159, Brera, Spider, Lancia Delta had since 2009. It is called TBI and it is a 1750cc ( 1742cc ) 16Valves Turbo charged. It is direct injection, it has dual continuous variable valve timing system and a revolutionary scavenging control system that gets rid of any turbo lag. Why 1750? Because this capacity engine was an historical engine from the past with lots of wins in races so it is a sort of recall of those times ( Don't know how to say in english ). The difference with the one on 4C is that the new one is entirely in aluminum plus if I'm not wrong the Turbo is different ( correct me if I'm wrong ). It has 240HP instead of 200HP mounted on 159, Brera, etc. It doesn't have anything in common with the JTS.

No stick, very ugly headlights, same auto trans from the Dodge Dart, no A/C, (I live in the southwest ) and a price pointat the Porsche Boxster. I'll take the Porsche. BTW I own a 1957 Alfa spider and love it.
