The new 4C is hopefully the beginning of a new dawn for Alfa. It's rear wheel drive, light, fast and far more beautiful in the flesh than in pictures.

Alfa has the right idea. Small lightweight car with small punchy engine, much like an Elise or smart roadster. We need more of these as economy will be massively improved wth less weight

Aiden Brantley i thought i needed more than 4 cylinders too but then i drove a 4c and then i bought a 4c hahaha i really don‘t miss more cylinders. of course it would be nice but it‘s damn nice too with the 4 cylinders🤷🏼‍♂️

Chris Harris, you are probably my favorite auto reviewer to watch. You are open about the positives and negatives about the cars you drive, and seem genuinely passionate about driving. Plus, drifting in any car you can is a win win in my book. Cheers.

The only reason that people compare it with the Cayman is because Alfa gave them a reason for it - performance figures are very close to a Cayman - However i do think that this car is in a league where it can only be compared with the Lotus. They both have supercar looks, both sit very close to the road, both are totally focused on pure driving experience - no gadgets etc and both give you this 'go kart' feeling! What Alfa has create this time, is simply genius and in my opinion it will finally mark the return of the most exciting, coolest and sporty brand of all time! Cuore sportivo!

This is one of those vehicles you really have to see in person. I don't know why but just looking at it on a computer screen it reminds me of a girly Porsche or something, in person though you can really see those beautiful curves in motion, and the overall shape better. *It's hard to explain but it just looks so damn aggressively sexy in reality, it's like the most proper sports car I've ever seen. (Maybe not the most badass, or aggressive, but pretty in an artsy way.)

@@stijnvandamme76 I disagree, it's definitely a head-turner unless you live in Dubai. I'd definitely buy one and shove 20 more PSI into it. I bet it would be an absolute weapon. 4 cylinders are super capable on light vehicles. I'm currently driving a 389HP VW golf, which is absolutely smoking anything in town below a Porsche or modified GTR. 4 cylinder with some elbow grease goes a long way if you do it right.

To me this is probably the most exciting car to come out in a long time. I love the fact that this thing made it to production, this is what Alfa should be about...no cynical badge engineering, not a nice looking shell on a random platform that happened to be laying around, just a techologically advanced uncompromised great car. Even if it has its faults it's great to be able to hope this is the direction Alfa is going in for the whole line up. Would have one over a Cayman in a heartbeat.

BAHAHA! I was thinking the SAME THING! Although the girlish charm from the 8c was definitely dominant, it kinda looks like the sister of the Elise. It's not aggressive enough, it's too bubbly, like a miata.

10 years old and wow, this car still looks great!! It truly was the start of the come back.. now they have the Stelvio and Giulia QV, which are amazing cars! Hopefully, they will continue with this trend :)

One of my friends is an Alfa Romeo salesman, he got this car to test out a couple of weeks ago. We drove for a some hours. Incredibly fun! love that car!

I had a 156 for 13 years. Just tyres and regular servicing. Zero problems 100% driving pleasure.

I know lots of people are saying this is a new beginning for Alfa, saying their cars haven't been great lately. But frankly to me, the 156 (V6 model) is crazy amounts of fun for a cheap saloon, the 159 is just the best looking sedan out there. The Brera is a stunner looking hatch designed by Pininfarina, and the new Mito and Giulietta are beautiful and great cars in their segment. The 4C is indeed a new beginning for Alfa sports cars. I'm excited about this 4C. - 71 GTV owner here.

The Alfa CEO got our hopes up back then, unfortunately 9 years later the reality is that Alfa specialise in SUV's (Stelvia, Tonale and another one, and 'vesuvio grey' being one of the most popular colors).

I bought an Alfa 156 Selespeed over a BMW 320 coupe and gave loved Alfas ever since. Leather Momo seats,Bose sound system,cruise control,AC,6 CD changer in the boot. The BMW had cloth seats and a CD player and was £3000 more. I've had friends who had nothing but bother with their Alfas but I got lucky and owned mine for 3 years with only tyres and servicing to pay. I love them and my boss owns a Guilleta and says its the best car he's owned.

una struttura compatta e leggera come questa + v6 busso = con alcune modifiche (allungamento passo,....) si avrebbe un mostro di nobili natali= lo spauracchio di tante supercar, ma a parte il numero di cilindri sarebbe un'auto diversa in tutto dalla 4c, tutto un altro segmento di mercato. Spero che la 4c sia solo l 'inizio di una superba rinascita e non di un episodio casuale. Non capisco le scelte di Fiat-crysler: perché si stenta a fare ricerca e sviluppo sul marchio Alfa Romeo ( senza considerare anche Lancia che sta facendo una fine indegna per la sua storia e identità leggendarie)....Il marchio Alfa è un caso unico in tutto il mondo dell'auto: nonostante anni di scelte aziendali sbagliate, il nome di questa casa automobilistica suscita in ogni angolo del globo ammirazione reverenza rispetto nostalgia = PASSIONE. Senza la necessità di investire nel marketing e nella creazione della propria immagine ex novo (come hanno ostinatamente insistito il gruppo Volkswagen e altri marchi premium, con sorprendente successo) come si fa a sciupare la possibilità di costruire e vendere prodotti che per loro stessa natura non hanno bisogno di pubblicità come la Ferrari: perchè questo è l'Alfa Romeo, e ogni sincero appassionato di auto lo sa. Le Alfa Romeo non sono solo automobili, prima di esserlo sono fonti (irrazionali come tutte le passioni) di EMOZIONI, sono espressioni di arte e storia (una leggenda geneticamente italiana), sono protesi delle personalità dei loro proprietari, sono testimonianze fisiche degli anni in cui l 'eccellenza industriale italiana non aveva rivali (tra le due guerre e poi con il boom). Le Alfa ce le avevano le forze dell'ordine, ce le avevano molti papà zii che poi trasmettevano "il virus" a figli nipoti. Le Alfa hanno sempre avuto una personalità forte inconfondibile: bastava sentire il rombo da lontano e poi vedere comparire quello scudetto incorniciato da baffi cromati, come il muso di un felino che balza sulla sua preda. All'Alfa sono legati nomi come Romeo Nuvolari Fangio Ferrari Iano Merosi Luraghi Satta Puliga Busso....( citarli tutti è impossibile) e l'Alfa nella sua storia ha partecipato con successo ha quasi tutte le categorie del Motorsport. A parte l'Arna quasi tutte le Alfa sono oggettivamente belle. Questi e tanti altri dettagli sono quelli che rendono l'Alfa un'auto con l'ANIMA dentro.

This video was just the right amount of time. It gave most of the information you would need to know about the car. All you need to know about its performance. Chris is a drifting fool. I love those long unedited drifts.

The 4C Spider that was introduced in Geneva had different headlights, similar to the original 4C concept car. As far as I know, you will have the option to change the headlights in 4C coupe as well.

Mitico Giorgio! La cosa triste è che in molti si fermano a considerazioni come "ha gli specchietti della Punto" o simile... A chi interessa? sono riusciti a produrre un'auto in fibra di carbonio, dal peso eccezionalmente contenuto e caratterizzata da prestazioni di primo livello. Che male c'è a voler contenere un minimo il prezzo di vendita del prodotto finito?

It's like an Exige had an affair with an 8C, cheating on the Elise, and out popped the 4C. In silhouette it totally looks Lotus Exige. Another analogy is a Lotus Exige wearing Alfa clothes. Seems like a great car though. I've only seen one up close, but I really want to test drive or ride in one. I really don't see the Cayman comparison. I think the comparison is totally with an Exige.

marino4691 They'll probably come out with a more powerful 4C, but not too powerful as to get close to the 8C, even with it's limited numbers. It's like the Porsche Cayman and 911 thing. Porsche knows that if they made a really powerful Cayman, that car would be the one that everyone would want because of the handling advantage from being mid-engine. But Porsche wants to keep the 911 the flagship model, so they'll never come out with a really powerful Cayman. The Cayman one can buy now can give some 911 models a run for their money, so they'll always give the Cayman less power than they easily can to keep it a sub-model like the Boxster. But that could be seen as a good thing, because the money people save by buying a Cayman can be used to make it more powerful and make it a better car than the 911.

Sandra Rios They probably will launch a 2.0 liters version with 316hp. There's no concern about 8C, which was only a limited piece of art for collectors. For a big american road, Corvette. For a Deutsch Auto Bahn, Cayman. Finally, for a sinuous road of Italy, 4C.

I never liked Alpha, until now. ...And the dealership I am currently employed by will be taking them in with the next year. So I am curiously excited. I know their not Porsche, but I like unassisted steering and it sounds like a fun ride.

Le Alfa difficilmente sono volgari o pacchiane e basta vedere certi modelli più anziani le cifre impressionanti che spuntano ad aste come Coys o RM auctions. Saranno sempre auto di classe. E' così difficile destinare finanziamenti nella ricerca tecnologica ( come giustamente fanno gli stranieri), eliminare tutti i difetti riguardanti qualità materiali e assemblaggio, risparmiare sul marketing, ma mantenere nella meccanica e nel design la genetica alfa romeo? Tradizionale nell'idea ma moderna nella tecnologia, senza scimmiottare il design della 8c competizione (sulla 8c è un conto, su altri è meglio cercare originalità) su tutti i modelli? Se con la metà dei soldi spesi da BMW si realizzasse tutto ciò l'Alfa non avrebbe concorrenza, a tempo indeterminato. Quando la dirigenza di un gruppo industriale ha tutto questo potenziale e lo spreca, sono più una massa di cazzoni che di incompetenti. I hope that in any way Alfa Romeo and Lancia brands will be able to reborn! In a century they've contribuited to human culture, not just car industry.

+Assyl Yacine I've an AP1(2002)... NEVER a mechanical problem. I want this (4c) car too! Comparing the talk from S2k and Alpha forums it seems the 4c has been a lot more needy than my AP1 that's nearing 14 years of ownership without a hiccup. Alpha (Fiat) has well deserved reputations for unreliability... I don't wanna be my car's bitch.

I used to own an AP1 S2000 back in 2003. The 4C is the only car now that has gotten me so intrigued and excited since the S2000.

@Zero. That is mainly due to different safety regulations. The US version is also heavier. Yes, the Launch edition is numbered (1000 units of which one half for the NA market) and has some carbon fiber parts as a standard (support of the lighting system, rear spoiler, side mirrors) and, if I remember correctly, the race setup and exhaust as a standard. The EU Launch edition is already sold out. Then there will probably be also a launch edition for the future targa version, again, numbered

Umberto Bizzarro if you know corvettes bro, they are quite good in terms of fuel economy. Their 6th gear is long enough for that. People gets 30+ mpg with those corvettes 1999+

Actually in the 1-3 years of first ownership the ALFA falls in 5th place for reliablity...the first 4 are japanese and one Korean. 6th place is Honda. Porsche, BMW, Mercedes, Jag are WAY down the list. So ALFA has resolved any reliability issues and in fact they have proved to be pretty much bullet proof. I have a 2015 LE and the only required fix was a broken knob. This is with tracking and autocrossing so not babied.

I have never like Alfas but I swear I love this car. Alfa has done a really good job on this car, the next iteration on the 4c should sort out the little teething problems.

Man, can't wait for 2014 to get my hands on this. Yesterday I went in to a Fiat dealership to register my name for purchase once it comes out. I was deciding between Nissan Nismo and Ford Shelby but Alfa sold me. I even checked Lotus, but their design is just so weird. This lil car is pure elegance!!!

Maad Dan, I checked a few sites on U.S. pricing, and they were all at about $86,000-$87,000, but now it appears all those sites were wrong. I am glad because I really do like this car a lot better than the Cayman S and Elise.

4th time watching in 12 hours. Wanted this car for so long. Will get the matt red wrap that I first saw it in many Geneva's ago. double clutch is exactly what the elise is missing as now it can be driven every day :)

Production is actually limited: 3,500 units/year. In Europe is a matter of homologation (limit of 1,000 to avoid full homologation procedures), in general it's a matter of industrial feasibility: it's basically handmade, so you can't produce it at mass production pace (and, of course, you can't sell it a lower prices).

For the brand image of course. They are entering the North American market with a perfect sportscar. And it will be reference for future models - like the new spider. Btw, I think 4C also will bring good profit to Alfa anyway. They'll produce it for about 10 years.

@Devan. Yes, on the formal side Ferrari And Maserati are more like cousins of Fiat and Alfa, which are properly part of the same company. But on the practical side, yes, it is basically the same group (together with Lancia, Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge, etc.)

Excellent! I've waited for this video for ages. And it seems Alfa Romeo got it spot on, this time. Except that steering wheel. And perhaps headlights. But I bet those can be modified.

Chris, I believe the Aventador has a TFT screen, not a TXT one! ;) Thanks for the review, I don't think the car is specially good looking (I don't care how heavy the original headlights were...bring them back!) But it's good to see Alfa launching something exciting.

No, around 3.500 units/year of which 1000 for Europe. With the introduction of the Targa version the mix may change a bit. But basically that is the approved BC. 500 is the number of Launch Edition units for US (to be summed to the 400 dedicated to EU and 100 for the rest of the World. 1000 launch edition units in total)

that was the case up to 156. right now all Alfas are equally well built and reliable as any other car. oh and about the lights, don't even get me started on light bulbs fail ing on EVERY VW the minute they exit the dealer...but VW owners seem to "forget" about this lol

By far, the MOST sexy a car can give you for the money. The instant one sees the Alfa badge - they know. It's not Ferarri, it's not Maserati, it's - art, it's racing passion and nothing else, usually. In the past if you loved Alfa for that and you thought it worth the maintenance idiocy - THIS is your coming home. To you - there IS no other car. It's a wonderful world where Alfa comes back and gets it SO right.

Great, beautiful, real car! This is how sport cars should be. Back in the days they asked for performance, agility and fun at drive. It shows that you can still make cars with passio. No Jaguar or Porsche please, like Enzo Ferrari said : "At Alfa Romeo's they can make gloves for ants".

Wow, Alfa's back. Looks like a great car. I want one. I would however sacrifice some power for an NA engine (because I'm weird and my tastes are weird and I don't make any sense)

@Francesco Di Giuseppe - The 991 particularly in Turbo S form is a BIG car. Longer than a Ferrari Testarossa at 15ft and only 2.5 inches less in width. The new 991 in the flesh looks ungainly particularly if compared to a 993 (easily the cleanest 911 design in the last 20 years).

@zerojo, you can't actually make a reliable inference between the EU and the NA version, since the architecture of the front part of the chassis is quite different. Anyway, the only price that has been already published is the European one. 53k€ for the standard version and around 60k€ for the Launch Edition. Then of course you have some variability in EU since each country has different taxation.

*LOTUS EXIGE + PORSCHE CAYMAN + SEX = ALFA ROMEO 4C* This beauty is EPIC! It's basically my favorite characteristics between the Cayman and the Exige, it's like my two favorite cars had a freaky night and out popped the 4C. (I only wish it had a little more oomph)
