The 4c was gonna fail. It's like the ideal "5th car" And how much of he population owns at least 5 cars? On the other hand, for about the same price you can have a sports car WITH a trunk AND rear seats AND being faster all at the same time.

The Alfa doesn't sell because it's unlivable.The interior is much to cramped, it has no trunk and there's no interior storage.

Because you buy a small italian sportscar for the way the interior looks and for carying dead bodies with it. This is the kind of thinking that killed and keeps killing sportscar manufacturers and market.

+King Heidfeld while I get where you're coming from, it doesn't exist in a vacuum. At the end of the day, it is likely going to be cross shopped with cars like the TT, Cayman, Corvette, GT350R (more or less), and even the M4 or C63. You really and truly would have to be in love with the Alfa and its driving characters to choose it over competitors that have nicer interiors, more storage space, more amenities, and are just as fast. It is by definition a second car. Just about every single one of the cars I named are capable of being used as a daily driver. And ultimately, that is its biggest weakness. You would need to either be a true enthusiast to own one, or have quite a lot of disposable income.

Great points, someone who is seriously looking into a TT, vette, mustang, or M4 is not realistically considering a 4C. Those are fine examples of relatively inexpensive (under 100K) fast and sporty but comfortable/usable daily drivers, while the 4C is more special - it's a bargain supercar and the person who does end up with a 4C is not using it as their daily or even 2nd car and likely has a few more exotics (Ferraris, higher-end Porsches) in the garage. That type doesn't go for a TT or vette which is why the 4C is not selling well - Not many people in that really specific market.

alfa romeo needs to cut some prices - they won't return in the market with premium pricesc when u already have very good premium-ish cars at "normal" prices (kia, hyunday etc)

First off, Alfa Romeo is NOT a 'new' company ... I have had 3 kick ass killer Alfa here in the states. They did bring one kick-ass car to re-introduce themselves to all the other head-up-their-ass sports car fans ... but put it in a place where no one can really afford to just go out and get one like a Miata. .... Com on Fast Lane Daily ... I know you are all MUCH more intelligent than you are trying to portray in this last episode!! ... That is enough for me. I am still considering to show my 6 speed cooper convertible in a video for you. Yes, I went from 3 Alfa's to the BMW owned mini because the roof actually comes all the way down and I am not a billionaire to buy whatever I want. ... Thanks again FLD .. Keep on ROCK'N !!!!

The 4C had an uphill battle. In the U.S. it was in a price range that included cars like the Porsche Coxster, Gayman, Chevy Corvette which are all great sport cars that are far more comfortable to live with day to day. They were bigger and heavier but roomier and better equipped, because of that they were looked at as better by people who could spend 60k+ on a secondary car. Not to mention the 4C was also an unknown to non auto enthusiasts. It wasn't very well marketed. Even when talking with car guys the poor thing would often be forgotten. It would be lost in conversation when people were comparing cars like the the Porsche twins the Corvette and others. Still surprised it sold in such low numbers though, I mean the Boxster tends to sell around 10k units a year. Thought the 4C would do at least a tenth of that.

i think the 4c has suffering sales solely due to it's price. I would like to buy one but 60k for a 4c doesnt seam practical. plus the lack of visibility when driving it makes it impractical to daily.

smart is indeed a stupid idea but it looks kinda cool. They just dont need to call it a crossover. They need to do it just like fiat did with the 500x and 500L if they want it to seem reasonable.

I mean the price didn't match what the 4C was bringing, I mean I rather get an MX5 for half the price and sure less power but for those cars I feel like its more about the ride. The 4C sold less then Viper which the major thing holding back the Viper is the fact it is a manual car only and manual are not selling that well anymore. If it meant bringing back the Viper as an automatic I rather see that then the 4C survive, I wanna see Viper vs Corvette vs GT even knowing the GT would probably win.

probably because you can get a corvette for the same price, for a bit more the z06, or for less than half the price a fiat 124, then do a few things to make it as fast as a 4c

The sales of the 4C weren't bad. But with the new Giulia platform , and considering the current 4C is quiet some years old , it is cheaper for FCA to cut the production off and focus on possible new models, than designing a new one.

Dude, I think It's hideous with its concave, smushed, cross-eyed face and ridiculously impractical small space. It's not going to be anything special off-road and that tiny smart engine won't make it fast enough to be fun on the road. So really, it's going to get bought by people that want it as an accessory like a handbag. At least, that's how I think It'll turn out. I'd love to be proven wrong though.

the alfa romeo 4c failed because it was 50 grand for a car with a 500 abarth engine and Fiat was unsuccessful in its quest to convince the consumer that the chassis alone was worth the 50.

Last I checked at the STL Auto show, the MSRP for an Alfa Romeo 4c was $40,000. I think that is increadably cheep for a car that looks as good as a Ferrari 488! I think the problem is practicality though. That and Alfa Romeo has an atrocious reliability record. Being part of Chrysler dosn't improve that unreliable stereotype. This and the fact that foreign cars, particularly european cars, are more expensive to own all round with Insurance being higher as well as maintenance and parts are all more expensive when imported from over the Atlantic.

the 4C in my opinion is to far removed from any competition. you can get a American pony car that is cheap to own and insure same goes with the Asian cars ( Genesis Coupe, Mx5 and the toyobru twins). then on the biger side you have the C7, viper, bmw M2, Porsches. this is kinda the case where being situated in the grey area makes you hard to see. if the 4c was cheaper using less exotic materials and aimed at a car like the MR2 of the 90s it would have made more waives. i mean com on cant out sell to much more expensive viper in the states?? someone made a mistake and not a small one.

The 4C is just too expensive for a stripped down 2 seater, it's relegated to a rich boys 4th toy. If it was cheaper , it would've sold better, but the fact that you can buy a VW or a Subaru with far more power and creature comforts and an existing service structure, so it's no wonder....
