It is about time Alfa designed and built a stunning automotive example of Italian beauty, design and (hopefully) quality. If priced right in the USA, this car will be in very high demand, particularly on the West coast where cars are appreciated at the highest level. I have owned two Alfa Spyders, the 75 Milano V6 and a 164 S sedan. All of which never broke down on me or needed any special repairs. I believe this Giulia is the best designed small sedan in the world at the moment. Lets hope it leads to more imported Alfa Romeo models back in the USA very soon.

I've been one of the lucky few to own 2 Alfas and not have any trouble with either of them (156 Selespeed and 147 Lusso). I love them and the style and will definitely be looking at this car when it hits the UK

It's just great to see the inventor of the sports sedan, the pioneer that started it all the way back in 1955 come back to form! It's been a long time coming bit I think they've nailed it!!! Not many people realize but here is a car with superior suspension to a BMW 3 series, more horsepower than an M3, numbers that match all three German rivals on top of that you get that innate Italian style and touch of class and feel good factor, it's all the chess pieces rolled into one check mate!

best car in its class, I now these German saloons are good but until you have lived with an Alfa and experienced the feel and drive. Nothing compares in my opinion. the only issue I ever had was the quality of finish. This looks to have been addressed. I love Alfa's and really hope other people give this car a chance so they can be a strong force again. fed up seeing BMW, Mercedes and Audi's everywhere.

Beautiful car and a very well done review. The last Alfa that excited me was my GT-V6. This seems to be a slow return to those days. It would be nice to see them do another 2+2 eventually.. but I understand the need to give the market what will sell. This looks like such a car. What breaks my heart in this is that it's too late. By that, I mean that the coming age of electric is making the engine irrelevant. Obviously a car company has to build what they have and must leverage alliances such as this car getting the Ferrari engine. We all understand that companies like Alfa are victims of greater realities... so this model may be the last for a while until they can once again leverage technology from others. With the time spent driving the Tesla model S around, it's opened my eyes to a great many things that are possible. Cars like this.. beautiful, well appointed with the history of being one of the early marquees.. could benefit hugely from the coming tech tsunami. A quick spin in a Tesla makes you realize that auto makers like Rimic are WAY out ahead of cars like this or even Ferrari. There will always be a place in my heart for the Alfa's of old and even for this one.. but the stark reality is that times have changed. I really want to see Alfa and the others remain relevant. I hope they can.

Cornel Con I'm not sure how old you are, but 20 years is... soon. Think about this.. look around at how many 20 year old cars are around you.. now realize that those cars are from the 90's. That's 20 years. That is the time frame we are talking about before we have full adoption. It's going to be a wild ride.

There will not be any problems regarding reliability, don't forget you will get warranty when new! its the second hand ones you need to worry about.......but having said that, its the same as any other brand out there. and as for depreciation my BMW X6 cost over £50k new around thirty months ago, and I am now told by the dealer its worth £27K !!! That's depreciation!! And that's how the car industry works, so take in on the chin and enjoy the best car brand ever......... Now is the right time for me to go back to Alfa Romeo, can't wait.

I feel really badly for you all in the U.K. because the 2.0 Giulia in the U.S. produces 280 hp and 306 lb-ft of torque. It also does 0-60 in 5.1 seconds!

If this Giulia is even half as reliable as the 159 that preceded it then Alfa is on to a winner. 159 was beautiful and more unique looking, but front wheel drive. Rear wheel drive puts this car in a different league and now there is no reason I can think of to go German anymore. Only niggles are that they they should have taken some more inspiration from the 159 in the headlight department and the GT in the V6 sound department (legendary "Busso" - google it if you haven't heard the engine before!).

I tried the 2.2 diesel 180hp yesterday. It was just a couple of kms, not a proper test drive. It's funny because i felt the steering too filtered and not so direct as you say, and i feel in my 159. And that was the most disappointing aspect (there are others) of the car to me. But it was just a quick drive and maybe i got the wrong impression.

I wonder when all the idiots stop calling diesels "eco" since they are NOT eco at all. CO2 is the LEAST harming gas that comes out of the exhaust. Diesel produces much more toxic NOx than petrol. And yet, idiotic EU system favours diesel just because of lower CO2 emissions. Stupidity at its best. BTW, who would buy Alfa Romeo with diesel ??? Modern petrol engines have great fuel efficiency, but seems like most people live in some fantasy world where every single car drives for 4 litres per 100 km.

The Audi has better interiors, but it's a FWD with engine in front of the front axle: if you are looking for a prestigious car, that's not that great... The ALFA has an RWD underpinning with front-mid engine, a 50/50 weight distribution, it's lighter and because even the most basic models (yes, even the 150 HP turbonaphta...) just actually are "burgeoned" Quadrifoglios you get lot of advanced technical features such as the carbon fiber-made driveshaft. In this case the head should agree with the heart: the Audi is a well made, safe and reliable C-graded four-wheeled "appliance", the ALFA is a serious driver's car.

Makes no difference at all. I drive both left hand and right hand drive cars, there is no problem using the left hand to change gear.

I thinks its beautiful, but dull enough to lose its appeal as soon as another hot sports sedan comes out. The Quadrifoglio is bangingly gorgeous but what I've loved about Alfa (I've owned 6) is how there cars last longer in appeal, this seems to fall in line with a market already predictable designed to look like today's Giulia which will dull faster than the 4c. Manufacturers are forced to build cars to consumer understanding, 3 Series, C Class, XE. Or 5 Series, E Class, XF. and 7 Series, S Class, XJ. Then a sports car claiming to be Ferrari like to top them off i.e. R8. When did Audi become......You get the idea. There was a time where manufacturers built cars from internal ideas hoping to woo the attention of buyers, with proven tech and pedigree. Now they built cars hoping to deliver their version of already expected templates for building cars. I don't see an Alfa Romeo, I see Alfa Romeos version of a 3, C, or XF. It's just red. But not special. I'm buying the 4c. That's Special.
