2018 Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio lowered on ST by KW Sport Linear Springs. This is a phenomenal upgrade for aesthetics and performance while transforming this car to perfection.
The 2018 Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio sits much higher than earlier models in the USA, not sure about Europe and other parts of the world. If your tired of the off-road 4X4 look and want the car to handle even better with more confidence and grip out back these are the spring you want to install.

Just had these KW springs fitted my 2018 QV after getting sick of the stupid high stance and strange high speed behaviour in corners and on the straight when stepping on it. Always felt something wasn't quite right with the setup. You were 100% correct on this, with the new springs aside from the awesome look, the way the car now rides and handles is quite literally astonishing. The difference is night and day, easily now the best handling car I've ever had, better than my 993 turbo Porsche (mostly due to the front end). Car feels so planted and safe and can now be pushed to crazy limits whereas before it was just too twitchy to inspire confidence. Thanks for the vid, you really know your stuff!!

sweet thanks for posting, i just installed rear upper adjustable control arms which makes you able to dial in the rear camber the car feels incredible now. these cars are so sensitive with alignments i will be doing a video soon discussing this as i want to hear from owners around the world for us to share the data so we can post it on the Auto Fanatic website as a resource. Also consider my custom spacer set it really dials in the feel further once lowered and makes the front end sharper to jab into corners.

Can I say that the car looks great lowered and will handle better on smooth flat road surfaces as a result however in undulating surfaces with dips and humps the standard will outperform in my humble opinion. What the rally cars do for handling upgrades is install strut brace bar in engine bay and lower subframe stiffening bars as well as bars on the rear. This will make the car unbelievable added to the lowered suspension.

When I put lowering springs in my Evo X. I called all the major companies and only 1 was able to give me actual data on why they chose certain spring rates and whatnot. Love your videos! So nice to have someone who actually knows what they are talking about when making modifications to their car's. Couple of questions: 1) Now that you added negative camber (which was an awesome find!), is the car tram lining at all? (following the grooves in bad roads) 2) I assume that the springs don't affect the adjustable shocks...right? The car still rides soft in Normal and stiff in Race? (my wife drives the car too) 3) I've been looking at used Gulia QV's and probably would by a first or second year model. Rumor has it that they are lower from the factory and in 2018 they raised them....correct? Thanks in advance!

Informative video. Thanks! I think I heard you say that after you installed the springs, the fender height was 24 1/8 rear and 26 1/8 front. My 2018 is sitting at 27 3/4 rear and 27 3/8 front. Does this mean that it would lower mine 3 1/2 inches in the rear if I installed these springs??? I only have about 3 1/2 finger gap right now though. What alignment settings did you use? Were the springs difficult to install? I guess you need a spring compressor?

Great video. Thank you! One question...You mention in the video that stock spring rates are 183F/275R and the ST's are 399F/428R. That seems like a huge jump in stiffness on the front (218%). Are you sure those are not the stock Q2 spring rates instead of the Quadrifoglio's rates?

Great Video! I've seen it mentioned by you and elsewhere regarding the lower stance on 2017 models (in the US). Did you look into the stats on those or consider them? Also, do the new coils adversely affect the ride when you use the damper switch in Dynamic and Race modes on bumpy roads? I just did a job for Alfa Romeo with these and the Stelvio Quads up at Monterey car week and fell in love with the Giulia QF (though I still haven't figured out why some people call it a QV?) Most of our customers were guys driving Ferraris, Lamborghinis, McLaren's and Porsches , so I was surprised at how many of them really, really liked the car for its power, chassis, steering and handling, especially since it is a 4-door sedan.

Great video. Would you say that the car is less likely to ground the splitter on undulating roads with the increased load capacity of these springs, even though they put the car at a lower stance? I've a 2018 setup factory and I've already scuffed the splitter on a bad dip in the road surface when deployed.

@autofanaticcars
@autofanaticcars 2 жыл бұрын
Chris the installation is not that easy as there are special tools you need and you can damage stuff if your not properly equipped when you do it. the springs alone are just OK not ideal because the shock tuning from the factory is just too soft so on bad roads the nose and rear bounces quite a bit. i now have the KWDDC Coilover kit and i really feel it is a far superior upgrade but granted it is $4000 or more today for the parts.

@autofanaticcars
@autofanaticcars 2 жыл бұрын
yeah the stance is a bit high but what really makes this car shine is when it is lower and you dial in the suspension geometry it feels completely different. you can do springs to see if you like it to get started but if your roads are anything like what I drive on in the NY area you might not like the bounce. For example with the springs on uneven roads i would always hit the front nose underneath, snf approaching driveways or parking lot entrances it always hit.since I installed the Kw coilovers i have not once hit the front anymore all due to the elimination of he bounce with the better shock valving.

I will be ordering the ST springs from my own source, but finally, how many of the spacers come in your kit for the almost $400? Are you sending the sizes that you feel work best for a vehicle, or are we able to choose from a full set of spacers from the kit? Just trying to get things sorted out so I know where to go. Mine is an early 2017, so at the factory low ride height. Looks great, and ground clearance is fine, though speed bumps should of course be taken at low speed. Just one comment about the lowest ground clearance, actually it is not the front of the active front aero, it is behind it, as it almost triangle shaped, so 2-3 inches behind the front it goes down an inch or so, which is the lowest part.

I was told progressive were better because progressive spring rates change and become stiffer as they compress. So I thought performance wise progressive is the way to go but comfort is linear.
@autofanaticcars
@autofanaticcars 5 жыл бұрын
i never ever had luck with progressive springs on any car they cause too much oscillation and make the shocks struggle to keep up on our roads and at the track they are never right.Your spending 90% of your driving on the softer than OEM spring rates of the progressive soft coils and thats the issue, you can not really load a progressive spring up on the streets legally speaking. Almost all OEM springs are linear or dual rate of some sort. Search YT for other videos of modified Alfa Romeo QV there are a few videos of a red car in Europe and you can see how badly the nose bounces so much and this is because of the softer progressive springs and in Europe the roads are way better than some of us have in the USA.

@Auto Fanatic, what CAN’T you do to the QV, my Man? Looks fantastic. Nice work. Now you have me thinking I need to get the same thing for my 2017 QV. Had a random question for you...are you well-versed on the Ackermann Angle? I am having that issue with my QV (although I understand it’s not an “issue”), where when you made a u-turn at full crank, the front end gets clunky (almost as if you have severe tire rub). Does changing our the suspension potentially change the Ackermann Angle? Just curious. Thanks in advance.
@autofanaticcars
@autofanaticcars 5 жыл бұрын
the problem you describe is caused by the Corsa tires and the Ackerman angle combo and nothing else, it is normal and annoying at the same time. I swear it gets so bad it will eventually brake and wear suspension joints over time. with my Winter tires it does not do that and with Michelin all seasons it does not do that. I still think having Corsa on this car is a bad idea for daily use and il be changing mine out in the spring to something more livable. Corsa best suited for track and canyon road carving.
@jessb.6493
@jessb.6493 5 жыл бұрын
Auto Fanatic , thanks for the thorough answer. I am out in SoCal, where there is no winter to speak of. I still have the original Corsas on it, and I am at 6K miles on my 2017 QV. Do you recommend jumping into a set of all-weather tires to help diminish the Ackermann issue? Open to suggestions and respect the hell out of you for taking the time!

@@autofanaticcars I changed my Pirellis to Vredestein Ultrac Vorti, because the Michelin Pilot Sport 4S wasn't available in stock sizes. The Vredesteins have less dry grip on the limit but way more traction in the wet. Also they're more comfortable and less noisy. And the rubbing over the front axle while parking for example is gone. Once the Vredesteins are worn out I might go for the old but reliable Michelin Pilot Super Sport.

Great video - do you have the part no for these springs please? I have looked on the ST website and they state “KW engineers decided on progressive spring characteristics which harmonises perfectly with the actively regulating Alfa Romeo series dampers” this contradicts what you have said in your video? Apologies for my confusion!!

I have been waiting for this review with some anticipation. I have a European QV, and it sits as high as yours did. Not being in the first flush of youth, I am particularly interested in your assessment of ride comfort. You seem to indicate the ride comfort is still acceptable, but could you say how the ride comfort compares with the standard car in each of Natural, Dynamic and Race modes? Thanks.
@autofanaticcars
@autofanaticcars 5 жыл бұрын
rides perfect in all modes and i am in the NYC area with terrible roads, no bounce, zero comfort loss and my car has carbon fixed seats. Even the wife loves how my car rides versus her Q50 RS and now on weekends we are using my QV for local errands. the chassis is so well controlled it literally feels perfect and if i never told anyone this was not stock they would not believe it thats how natural this feels.

Car looks incredible now. Like it should have from the factory. I did the same to my Maserati MC. I HATED the look of it before. Looks and handles amazing now. Italian cars look amazing with the exception of that crazy gap. Funny you powder coated the springs to try and "hide" the fact the car was lowered, but I think your crazy if you think a tech won't immediately see the stance of the car and not know that it has been lowered. I would notice in 2 seconds. However, I'm sure your aware of your rights under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act if something goes wrong and they try and deny you coverage.

modifying cars for 30 years we have no rights for that Moss Act I have been to court many times with OEMs for myself and customers over the years and it holds zero weight and OEMS have mega bucks too fight you til no end..
