A friend of mine got a Giullietta with the same engine as the Abarth. A 'simple' remap and he now have 190hp and 290nm. Plus, a much better trottle-response and a more linear power-delivery. The diffenrens from stock is quite remarkable.
@KevinSmith-qi5yn7 жыл бұрын
Remap does wonders on most FCA engines. The throttle-response is lacking for modern ones due to fuel economy targets.

do a video of different throttle bodies like the slider and roller barrel style would be cool video since with them their is no blockage until valves so great airflow and why we don't use them now since it would technically be more efficient since its better airflow
@jakegarrett81097 жыл бұрын
1 word: Turbo. Turbos are very cheap ($150 for a cheap one on ebay if you're feeling adventurous and have the scrap metal for pipes and tubing). Even a poorly setup turbo is going to blow past any minor gains in different throttle bodies. Valves are probably the biggest blockage to begin with anyways, they are usually horrible, so that's actually what would allow the most benefit. That's why performance cams are a good idea if you want some more power, because the valves with standard lift and duration are usually not the best (especially on older cars). I think the throttle body would be about like comparing double vs tripple Holly/Eddlebrock intake headers. There isn't a big enough difference adding a 3rd carburator for such a tiny gain (when all 3 carbs are perfectly tuned, and tuning 2 carbs would be annoying enough).

Disappointing about the LC, but when you look at the weight, plus the fact that it's a more lux-oriented machine, not terribly surprising. I also wasn't terribly surprised by the Jag - they are known for being a handful at the limit. Think you'll ever get the S2000 out on a circuit?

Strange because the weight i saw here in Europe was more or less 1550kg or 3400pound average.... They did provide it without the carbon hood and roof there? that could raise a bit the weight but not even close to 200kg.

okleydokley Its a bit strange because its already used in the car conception. in fact Giulia is among of the most safer cars in the segment if not the most safe at the date of the test. all i know is that in europe is lighter than the M3 for more than 100kg. maybe there its not sold with the carbon roof and hood as standard.

It use to be stricter mate, but they're not stricter today. Actually the Crash Test requirements in the US are a bit stricter than the European. But yes the European in average use to be stricter and probably will be anytime soon when they make a new revision in the tests.

I've never been an Alfa Romeo fanboy, despite being Italian, but the Giulia is one of the best fast sedans available today. Some say it's better than an M3, especially if it is your only car, it's much more comfortable when not in sport mode, while the M3 is a pain when driving on long distances. Now I want to see a hatchback from Alfa as good as the Giulia!

A track comparison is simply not a track comparison without a proper BMW ///M car being present. I am quiet disappointed you didn't get to drive a M2, M3 or a M4 in this comparison. I actually wanted to hear your opinion, on BMW's current RWD turbo //M cars. Interesting video regardless, I love your work.
@peter.joseph7 жыл бұрын
I am guessing you're referring to the test MotorTrend did. It was a Camaro vs a BMW M4, the short answer to your question: MotorTrend has been BMW haters for a while now, I am following all their reviews, and they love to bash BMW day and night lately. To get a better idea on where BMW ///M stands now, I like to watch international reviews by many car shows from different countries, of the BMW M2, M3 and M4 vs any other car brand out there, 9 out of 10 times the BMW will win the handling department with ease. So yes it's still the benchmark, and it has been the benchmark for the last 20-30 years at least.
@themattenthehat7 жыл бұрын
The Camaro DOES handle better, check out the motor trend head 2 head. If I recall correctly, the Camaro accelerates faster, gets around the figure 8 faster, and stops faster. That said, the M cars are still the benchmark sports "sedans" (technically the 2 and 4 aren't sedans). It takes more than one generation of not being the best to destroy a pedigree.
@themattenthehat7 жыл бұрын
Latvietis96 I went back and you're right, the BMW won that one. But it was just the Camera SS, I'm pretty sure the ZL1 would beat the m4, but I can't find a direct comparison so I won't actually make any claims.

4:45 Can you explain this phenomenon in manual cars? It's prevalent in my car and pretty irritating
@Imaboss8ball7 жыл бұрын
YepItsTommy I would assume it's because the engine has a large advantage so any amount of throttle input in first gear will cause the car to pull and shock the drivetrain. it won't happen in 5th because the road has a larger advantage. it's kinda like how shifting from 1st into 2nd is generally more rough for a noob then shifting from 4th into 5th.
@brettcastro977 жыл бұрын
I don't exactly know the science behind it, but it's simply your car going in and out of engine braking like it does in every gear. It's just so prevalent in first gear because of the significantly different gearing.
@epiphonesg0077 жыл бұрын
it's just play in the drivetrain... How bad it is depends on how fast the throtthle reacts, how short the first gear is,...
@RandomGenera7ed7 жыл бұрын
To add to what others mentioned, automatic don't do this very much because of the torque converter which is much better at transmitting power from the engine to wheels and not the other way around
@mcrsit7 жыл бұрын
Well, if it's too prevalent maybe you should get the transmission seatings checked.

And I see you drove the Alfa just in Dynamic mode, if you'd put it in Race you would feel the grunt and do an even better time ! But I understand why you didnt, as selecting race disables all electric safety features. FYI check its time around the Nurburgring, broke record of saloon ctg and was faster than markee cars with a lot a much bigger engine and price tag. Well done Alfa, cant wait for the review of the new Guilia GTA, altough that one its not so daily friendly and its exclusivity will put its price tag up there.

I saw in another review of the Miata derived Fiat that it uses an older generation Miata manual transmission, where the new Miata has an all new, far better, transmission. I think a way to make them both different since Mazda probably prefers to save the best for their brands iconic little car that has such a cult following. Even if the volume numbers are not near what some cars like a corolla or civic or F150 are, it is equally important for the brand.

I am amazed you weren't the fastest in the C63, it should by far be the best car on track, out of all the ones you tested (Its the most expensive so it should be). Ive driven the C63 S Coupe, and for its size, its incredibly planted, and its got such an insane powercurve, pretty much 500 hp at all times. I also cant believe you kept up the pace in the challenger, since that is a boat, not matter how you look at it xD Its impressive compared to what they used to be, but its no sports car, it's still a muscle car, that weighs too much
@jakegarrett81097 жыл бұрын
I think his was a review on handling and how it felt on the corners, not a race. If you don't feel confident in a car, you won't be slamming it around the corners. Same with my road bike. I had garbage stock tires that came with my Bianchi, but I could only describe them as "not confidence inspiring" or "garbage on turns". I replaced them with a Micheline Pro 4 slick race tire, and it was over night and day difference. Those things grip even at 40 degree angles (in a wet puddle) and caught me before I slammed into the ground from a gentle 5 mph turn with my rear stock tire that slipped out. Even if they weren't that amazing, but I thought they were, I would still do better in my races because I think I can go faster and so I will push the tires harder in a criterium race.

Nah, that would be a Grand Marque. Its impossible to drive them fast. 0 to 60 mph takes around 30 seconds (15-60 took 28 seconds on my cousin's car. I was bursting out laughing the entire time.) Since then he did some work on it, advanced timing etc. and now its probably about as fast as when it was brand new. That car is a boat, air suspension really makes it feel like its floating on something, and body roll, just wow on the body roll... Its terrifying to merge on a highway with that car! And my cousin still claims "its the same engine they put in the Mustangs!". Sure it is, totally feeling all that ~5.7 Liter engine power (I think that's the engine size). That is an old persons car, and I felt bad for him having that as his first car. He was so happy when it needed a repair and gave him an excuse to fix a 1970's pickup.
