I've owned my Giulia Veloce for 3 1/2 years & has been 100% reliable. Mine is in Stromboli Grey with red interior & calipers, I get complements all of the time, especially when I'm filling up fuel. You won't get that driving a dull default Audi or BMW, driving an Alfa makes you feel a million dollars but you will have to drive one to experience it.

Currently own a Guiletta sprint speciale & am looking at the Veloce as a replacement. Will be my 3rd Alfa, I've had zero mechanical or electrical problems on my last 2 (just the usual wear & tear stuff) but recommend using Michelin pilot sport 4's on them ( Much better than the Pirelli) & in the winter Michelin all seasons, you can just drive & not worry about conditions. I live in yorkshire & during a cold snap recently overtook dozens of 4x4's clogging the roads on summer tyres sliding around in the snow like beached whales (But it's a 4x4! thefore better!) Use the right tyre is my advice.

I got an Estrema a little over a year ago and fell in love with the looks and driving dynamics. However, after a few months I found myself imagining what that sublime chassis tuning and steering would feel like with 500 hp, and what that engine would sound like under acceleration vs the 2.0T, which, while a great engine, does sound a little like a rental car. So just 12 months later I am taking delivery of a 2024 Giulia QV Carbonio Edition and could not be more excited.

Great review. My MY2020 mid-life upgrade Veloce in Misano Blue, yellow callipers, I've loved it since I bought it new (after a 2019 Giulia 200bhp supersport and a 2018 Giulietta SuperSport). Have never had a reliability issue with any of them, simply no probs. Have taken Veloce from Drogheda Ireland to Nice France and back, it never missed a beat. The Veloce makes me smile every time I drive, its potent enough for everyday, 0-100 km in 5.7, 400 nm of lovely creamy torque, brilliant steering and seats. The aluminium paddles, a work of wonder - they are fabulous, the positive "click" on action and gear-change speed from the ZF8 is phenomenal. Cabin quality very good/solid, I dont care if its (perfectly acceptable) tech is not up there with my wife's 2022 BMW coupe, its a driver's car not a computer. More involving, more real than the BMW which is more clinical. And people want to talk about it, you dont get aggression from other drivers. And Alfa drivers wave at each other, we know we made the right choice, but we're rare enough to acknowledge each other. Go try one, no way will you be disappointed. I'm keeping mine.....

The thinking man's choice, the Veloce all day long! I love seeing the twisty road warning signs when driving mine (MY21 Volc black met/mica with red interior, petal alloys). It's a fun, sporting, beautifully balanced saloon with almost 2 personalities. Good motorway car as well. Dealership network a little thin on the ground but apart from that a great ownership experience. Very good review that says it all really. Forget the boring looking German stuff and buy a car with real road presence and respect from true petrolheads. Saving for a Quad. But Veloce is a wonderful 'in route' to the world of, what is, the truly historic brand of Alfa Romeo! Once again, a great review, thank you...

Love my 2022 Veloce, wonderful handling, styling, comfort and…reliability too. Zero issues in a year and a half and 17,000 miles. It does receive a lot of attention, helped by the Misano Blue paint and the 19” teledial alloy wheels. I have got 0-60 in 5.4 in my own car, they do have a momentary hesitation from a dead stop when accelerating, compared to my old Camaro that used to strain against the brakes until unleashed.

Still problematic so currently looking into water ingress via hvac system which I've done some work on (no joy so far). Despite all this headache, I still love it. All the clichés are valid here, sublime handling, sharp steering and a constant smile on my face. My cousin had a Green Cloverleaf 33 for any years and did over 100,000 miles, no troubles of any sort and even on the Somerset levels with Winter mud, it didn’t even rust! An Alfa is a car we all should buy and never forget..it might be brave and it might not be perfect but it has something else….it has excitement and inspiration….a little like spending a night out with a young Gina Lollobrigida ….a German librarian might be safer but you would always remember Gina! Driving sporty and it is amazing and one of the most fun cars to drive that I have owned. Now for the huge negative, mainly here in the states, is their pathetic value they hold and the increasing closing of dealers. So like now when we were thinking about trading it we can't be cause of how negative we are in it due to how much they plummeted lately. Definitely a slightly used is the way to go if you are thinking about getting one. So far we have had no issues with our's and hopefully it stays that way since we are going to have to keep it for a while longer.

This is a brilliant review. Spot-on with most points. I’ve owned over a Veloce since2020 and It’s important to understand that the dealer network in the south-east of England sucks big time. I’ve had three electrical issues now on the car and the last time it went to the dealer in Maidstone, it took about five or six weeks to do the repair and I was left with a hire car to go on a road trip which I had planned earlier on. when I picked up my car, they had managed to take a chunk of paint out of the door and make a nice scuff on the drivers seat. This car has been cherished but has been way too unreliable. The idea of buying an electric or hybrid Alfa Romeo must be for people who are out of their minds. It’s a superb drivers car when it works, but at the moment the dashboard lights up like a Christmas tree with only 11K miles and a local garage is waiting around three weeks for an ABS sensor which may or may not cure the problem. The engine on this car has been superb but the electrics are a joke. It’s my 8th Alfa Romeo and probably my last.

The engine pulls well especially with the excellent box which is very well calibrated. Handling and steering and particularly the ride are better than the German competitors.

Hi Pete. I’ve got a specific dog related question please. I’ve got a 3 year old border terrier and she just pants like mad in my newly acquired I20N. I’ve also driven a Veloce. Loved it. Thought it could be a bit fruitier engine noise wise but maybe a better pup/low frequency noise option. Thanks, as ever .

Your analogy is probably bang on do you buy the ST or RS the S3 or RS3, Quadrifoglio or Veloce. I would love the RS, RS3 & Quadrifoglio but monthly's, Insurance & fuel usually put a stop to the heart & the head wins unless of course its a Mini and I did own the full fat Mini Hatch JCW with the Pro Performance exhaust but those days are over and my options are now whether I buy an S, SE or HSE and in that respect I always feel top of the range is best for residuals. I am glad you plumped for Red as the colour it certainly stands out. I have not driven an Alfa but I assume it gives you that certain feeling you get from iconic cars when you get behind the wheel of them close the door and drive. To sum up in this case I think it would have to be the V6 for me as I love the soundtrack of a V6 so the head would be over ruled.

Great review a always fella. Although it's a great car, the truth is that most Alfisti wanted a sportwagon not a saloon. And although the Stelvio goes someway towards this (and is dynamically brilliant) it's just unnecessary for most petrol heads.

Nice looking car. I always liked the Giulia. Shame they didn't fit a smaller/ less powerful V6 rather than a Tesco value 4 cylinder turbo.

I've had three, including the Veloce you test here. I LOVED IT! But reliability was hopeless, breaking down within a month of having it, first time of many and yes the dealer network (I tried two different ones) are absolutely HOPELESS! Would not recommend at all unfortunately. Best looking saloon around though. And deffo has the Italian brio

Great handling and looks. The biggest issue for me has been parts availability and parts cost. Make sure you have good insurance because the car could be out of action for 6 months plus on even fairly minor accidents.

Hi there, thank you. Got a question : this car did not have the optional HARMON KARDON sound system. Was that Ok? Switching from a A8 tfsi to this at the moment.

Same here. I test drove the Quadrifoglio and had sleepless nights. Then I woke up and realized that I neede a car for all year every day, also in rainy and winter conditions - so I bought a Veloce Q4. Best car I have ever had and when I need to drift and slide and hear the phantastic sound of a 1970's Alfa bialbero, I open my garage and take my 2000 GTV Bertonefor a spin :-D.

If you buy one. Get the software, do your own oil and spark plugs. Hard finding a mechannic that'll touch it.

Used Quads are in the £30k region now. I’d have a used QV over a newer Veloce any day. Yes the Veloce is great fun but it lacks the Kudos and Fizz of the QV. Ed

Only thing the insurances are a scam on the quads got quoted 5k a year
@johnking82888 ай бұрын
Totally agree with your assessment. I've had mine now for 5 years now and I absolutely love it. Fortunilty here in CT isn the US we have a great dealer. Only issue was a small leak in the radiator and it was fixed under warranty, even though I was 6 months over the time limit. When I bought mine there were two identical cars in the showroom, one white with black interior QV with carbon roof and the other was 2 liter Q4 with with carbon package...witch was the same carbon on the QV.. However I happen to love sunroofs and prefer Q4 for our winters months here in New England. I really had a hard time being practical.....as that sound of that 6 is so orgasmic! It's the price you pay for trying to be an adult!

Your vid has landed on a dilemma day for me I’ve had a Quad for 18 months now & love it but I’m having major problems my insurance premiums on the car unfortunately. So I’m thinking of changing down to a Veloce as I am also starting to do more miles I love my Quad & you’re right the dealer networks are crap however if I am forced to do so am I going to miss it this vlog however has made me a little more confident if I am to down grade. Why are insurers in UK so bad now the amount of stress they cause you I’m a 57 yo man clean license & full no claims it’s disgusting what they want to charge you &!also so many demands garaged limited mileage etc🤬

My insurance was quoting 5k a year for the quad which put me right off it, so bought the 280hp stelvio in misano blue which has been brilliant

@@dinan4459 yes it’s crazy how can that be justified god forbid you would want to buy a Ferrari or Lamborghini all I can think is there’s a lot of uninsured motors on the road in UK at the moment due to these crazy insurance premiums. Glad to hear you are enjoying your Stelvio .

Ran a 159 as a company car, still a great looking car, for me its still better looking than the Giulia. Did just over 100k miles in 3 years and never put a foot wrong, very reliable but just a little too heavy on the front. It would chew through front tyres in around 12k miles. I would have snother in a heartbeat.

I recently test drove one. Really good and certainly on my list when replacing my A4. Only issue I found was side bolster of seat digging into my right thigh. Might have been my driving position but anyone else had this ? Would have to be red with 19” wheels.

I miss the Veloce Ti I had. It was wonderful. However, it was the third Giulia we had and when it started playing up it was made very clear to me that we weren’t getting another . ☹️
@rodpeacock40788 ай бұрын
Like you, I was at Goodwood when the Giulia was launched - the interior soon got muddy, due to the rain. I bought a Giulia Speciale, which was, and still is, a diesel. Loved it, but after six years and 23k on the clock, I had to sell it, due to knee and back issues. Part exchanged it for Tonale Special - petrol- which hasn’t been the enjoyment as the Giulia, but now I have had a knee replacement, everything has settled down, and yes, I regret selling the Giulia.
