I have been growing and eating my own sprouts since the early 70's and have never had any kind of problem. I do soak in filtered water and always have.

Fresh seeds that are stored properly can last up to 4 years. This is covered in the video. I store my seeds in a glass jar, which I store in a dark cool cupboard. Once you sprout and rinse your sprouts they will keep in the fridge for up to 4 days. Only sprout what your family will consume in 3-4 days.

Way to go, Michael. Nothing could be simpler and thanks for the tip using filtered water. I understand why they took the sprouts off the market in grocery stores though, and the warmings from FDA ---it's not easy to control every step and temperature of the growing and distribution process. Growing you own is fun too.

@@AJ-jf2ui I sprout lentils, mung bean, chickpea, and alfalfa. I usually make a quick salad with all four, with whatever fruit I have on hand (my faves are mango, kiwi, or strawberry). I'll use a store-bought raspberry vinaigrette. Provides a lot of energy this way!

If alfalfa sprouts are high in phytoestrogens, does that mean they are not recommended for men?? Phytoestrogens found in walnuts and almonds I've heard are not good for men's testosterone levels.
@josh-tt3cy6 жыл бұрын
GlobalTubeTruth they are like 1000 times weaker than actual estrogen. You'd have to eat like more than humanly possible to affect your hormones
@GlobalTubeTruth6 жыл бұрын
Are you 100% sure of that?? What do you mean by "real estrogen"?? Phytoestrogen isn't "real" estrogen?? That's news to me. Where did you get your training in biochemistry from??
@josh-tt3cy6 жыл бұрын
GlobalTubeTruth phytoestrogen is definitely not real estrogen. It's structure is similar but not the exact same. And there are many types of phytoestrogens, but the type found in soy is relatively weak.
@GlobalTubeTruth6 жыл бұрын
I disagree. Especially about soy. Alfalfa is one thing, soy is another.
