So excited to see this! I lived on Rua de Sao Miguel for 3 years.. 2013 - 2016. This was my lovely neighborhood. It took the old ladies awhile to accept me (the Americana) in their neighborhood but when they did, they always looked out for me. I was a part of the neighborhood family. Everybody knew most everything about everyone. Many didn’t have the funds for electronic devices so what was happening in the neighborhood was their entertainment.

Just came back from Lisbon. Stayed right in Alfama. Stayed there for 7 days. Enjoyed the 28 trolly and walked about 8 miles a day to explore the city. Sadly almost everything was closed or in the process of closing due to COVID19. We had to leave early but can’t wait to go back. People are very nice there. Lots of hills so bring comfy shoes! Great video.

So beautiful..it reminds me of most of the small villages in south of Spain. If I were blind folded and dropped here, I would think I am in Andalusia. I will visit in my life time....2022...keeping fingers crossed.

One of my favourite cities that I've been to, Dennis sums Lisbon up perfectly by calling it an overlooked gem. Alfama is a lovely area to walk around. Thanks for the vid, brought back some nice memories, I liked the demanding cat as well!

No way... The houses are very warm and very cozy. Only the birds, no nois from the cars (because cars are rare in this part of the town). When i was sick with a very bad cold my neighbor (a old lady) knock at my door asking if i need something. She even make me chicken soup to get me better... Yes if you hate to walk this isnt a place for you. I need to walk 10 minutes to catch the tram.

they look more north africans than europeans
@pedropereira55128 жыл бұрын
John Howard portuguese are very similar to spanish italians and greeks. there are a lot more people living in southern europe than in northern europe. so looking "european" doesnt mean looking like a british or a german. nobody gave you exclusivity on how looking more european
@ironic4408 жыл бұрын
Portugal, Spain. Italy, Greece are mediterranean countries like north africa and midle east, it's normal to see dark hair and toned skin, we have more sun and hot summers, what you expect? I see many english came here in vacations and go to the beach to be tonned and they left the country red like lobsters lol. But if you come here you see a loot of portuguese with blonde hair, green and blue eyes, with red hair and whity skin is more for north of portugal. The difference from the north african's to us is they have their faces more round than us and their hair are more frizz like a mulato
@antonioramos45147 жыл бұрын
You do have a point. In fact, almost a third of Portuguese men have Middle Eastern ancestry in their DNA, largely attributed to the invasion and occupation of much of the Iberian Peninsula by the North African Moors. I am one of those Portuguese who has +-16% Mozabite (Algerian Berber) DNA. Geneticists also found that about 28% of Portuguese men have Jewish Sephardic ancestry. So, the North African look of many Portuguese has a bit of truth to it, but is more prevalent in central and southern Portugal. In the North of Portugal you will find the lighter-skinned, blue-eyed Portuguese or the red-haired, freckled descendants of the Celts.
@misererenobis89007 жыл бұрын
+16% is pretty high, even by Portuguese standards, I'm Madeiran and 7% Moroccan Berber, although I'd always assumed it was down to the N. African slave trade..*shrug*
@johnpersson47016 жыл бұрын
John Howard You're an idiot ! You're just looking for trouble . I bet if you saw a group of Europeans, including Portuguese, you could not tell which ones were the Portuguese !
