In this video we are going to be programming a factory LED Center High Mount Stop Lamp with Cargo Camera on our 2018 Ram 2500 utilizing Alfaobd. These trucks can be ordered from the factory with these options but when you don’t order it that way, you are left with installing the required harness and programming at the dealer or yourself. You will need to enable the appropriate options via Alfaobd. Please see the list of products used in this video below and we hope you find it helpful. you think with obdlink m+ + alfaobd+ security cable you can connect high beam with mile light, remove belt warning, and adjust tire pressure, and install long horn headlamp on a ram 2500 laramie 2021

I think you can but also with the newer model trucks if there is any procedure requiring a rf hub reset the security code rolls every 24 hours and must be purchased from the dealer parts dept. the things you want to add or change I dont believe need a pin.

Hi Can you please help. Does the camera must be connected to pin 31 & 32 before doing these settings? I did config change from alfa obd. I have 2 options in alfa obd Rear View Camera and ECU Rear Camera Present. If i turn on ECU one this makes my engine light turn ON. Also i didn't see any option in uconnect 8.4 UAQ.

I ordered the ex, but I have a Chromebook with the alpha from the Google play store will it still work or would I need the desk top version

You can try it, honestly dont have any experience with chrome book. Look on playstore and see if it is available to download. It may work fine, but I cant say for sure.

Nice video. I was looking for someone to explain the difference between the ex and mx+. Do you notice a difference between the mx+ and the ex? Which would you say is better?

Both are good choices, really comes down to os. Computer version of alfaobd can perform a few functions better than the Android version

If Im not mistaken the radio needs to be MY16 for the camera to work in the cargo location. Junk yard find was $250 with camera.

Any idea how to activate the controls soft key? I recently switched to a carplay 8.4 display and no longer have the controls soft key to access my cameras. I just installed the cargo camera and can’t get it to activate.

The programming described in this video should set your soft keys after a few drive cycles.

@@AndrewH91 a drive cycle consists of actually driving the truck a certain distance/time/speed and shutting it down. May take 1-3 drive cycles to set the changes.

Unfortunately no, the nav is a paid software so you have to get the activation code from the dealer for the radio. You can use the software to enable everything else that would be needed.

Dodge Ram 2018 and up have a security gateway that requires a two plug by-pass harness to enable any code changes or reprogramming. Any OBD reader and AlfaOBD software is useless without that by-pass harness.
