@@jobanirubio5683 intermittent Service ABS will display on the dash in most cases. Likely that the pump failing is the culprit but could be a failed abs module as well. I'd look at the pump before replacing a module.

@@johnnydalewhatthehell4727 HCU doesn't require any programming only if your replacing the abs module. Alfaobd is used to activate the pump for abs bleed procedure. The dealers are supplied by specific warehouses so if one dealer tells you out of stock another dealer may use a different warehouse that has stock so yiu have to check around.

@@antoniodavis9848 you likely are having issues connecting to the truck because alfaobd is set to look for the wrong comm port which your cable is connected to.

It connects to the truck but I'm not getting the information am looking for I have a start up issue, I tried to start yesterday and the truck spun over like a choke was on the motor then cut off and I turned the key off and the restarted.

@@cjbarlow61 multiple ways to do the same thing, when you need to change the helpers out look at these. They have performed great.

@@cjbarlow61 order abs module or pump from a place like mymoparparts.com or moparpartsonsale.com. They should have them available. Ordering from dealer is tricky because they all use different warehouses that may or may not have any in stock. ATL warehouse had like 130+ last time I looked

@@Unfinished-Business24 This is not to say the stepper motors are always the problem, if you pull them out you can check resistance across the coils and should be around 148-150 ohms. Coils in ours were fine, believe it was a mechanical failure with the shaft and screw.

I would recommend obdlink mx+, android device with alfaobd and you will require a security gateway module bypass to program. Search facebook for Matt Dougherty as he should have plenty in stock. You may also find them through Kaod tech or M2mods. The one I use is from Kaod tech, not sure if he is still making them. Happy modding! 🇺🇲🦅👨‍🔧

@@Relevantminded great question, I honestly can't answer that as I have not had any experience with that model vehicle. I will say it will erase and clear your codes but if they comeback some troubleshooting will be required.

@@jdsmith556 times we are living in sure are different. All the manufacturers have issues with sensors, electronics in general. Some problems should be easily resolved but unfortunately backorders among many other things raise the cost and availability of these items. Wish things were simpler.

@@EthanGallimore yes, installed factory remote start and 2 extra keys with it no problem.

@@andrewbradley7815 it wasn't bad, just use a set of thin feeler gauges and slip the motor back in its spot. Feeler gauges are needed to keep the plunger on either side out of the way while shaft is inserted into place.

@@SOLmachineandmfg first time I did it on the truck and had an extra set of hands. Second time removed from truck and did it on bench then bled the brakes. Those little plunger in there can and will give you a run for your money.

@@davidleslie949 thanks for pointing out that products can be made overseas but company is based in US. The cost of things here lately has significantly hit consumers hard so although it may be made overseas the company still supports veterans and is US based as with alot of other companies alot of consumers use for vehicle related products. I like and try to support Veteran owned businesses and more specifically US made products whenever possible. I have done all the research I need to do and am comfortable with the purchases made so far. Most everything we use to include the devices I'm replying to you on and that you comment through are not made in this country. As long as they are quality products and support the right people then I will continue to buy those products and offer my honest opinion.

Once you get the motor out of the casing you will see a brass raceway or guide on both sides with brushes that ride in them. On either side of the guides are a plastic ripple that is mushroomed over to secure the metal guide to the motor back plate. You will drill these out and replace with small screws and a nut. Ensure you put some loctite on the nut and the screw inserted from the outside to the inside. Hope this helps. I will post a more in depth video shortly if needed. Fix is holding up well though.

So are we securing the motor to the casing? Is that the problem?

@@TheWildyoder no the issue is the brushes get stuck in the guides which causes the motor not to work. You are securing the guides back to the motor backing plate with screws and then pushing the assembly back into the case for reinstallation to the HCU.

When I did this both of my brushes were stuck in the guides, I didn't remove the guides from the motor but instead used the tiny diamond bit in my Dremel kit to grind off the little bridge on the brush guide then spread the brush guide with a flat screwdriver to free up the brushes. I'm going to consider this a permanent repair, the only time that motor operates is when the ABS system is actually operating during a emergency braking incident or slick road situation.

@@donsmods 12+8 plugs into the connectors at your SGM. SGM should be behind the radio if it's a 4th gen body style or left side dash down by the obd port for 5th gen body style.

They have done great, just hit 65k miles.

Is it more likely the motor than the HCU? My light comes and goes a lot.

@@wschmpn I would try the motor and more specifically the brushes before replacing the HCU. This fix has gone over 1000 miles with no issues.

What model year truck do you have?

2018 ram eco diesel. Showing 100% filter is clogged and I should go-to the dealership. Someone told me with the alpha I can force a Regen.

@@chriso1373 I may have plugged it back in from inside as the headliner was down at some point during the process for drying interior out. Dealer had sealed it incorrectly and water was pooling in the floor. We had to dry it out in the garage with big fans. Easiest to plug in before installing back if you have a helper to hold the light while you put your sealant on. I was using a caulk gun which made it a little more difficult if I recall to hold the light and caulk at the same time.
