When they did the Carlton then moved on to their dance, no sooner did I say to my husband, "They missed a part!" that they did the slide part of The Carlton! I felt even happier that the whole dance got shown. All that was missing is the candle that Carlton sang into when he 1st danced it on Fresh Prince.

the first time I saw Carlton do it in 1991, when I was 4-years-old, I knew I had to try it out and continued practicing for years as I saw him do it and became quite easy after following each step but of course I still can’t do it as well as Alfonso, the master and inventor of it. For a beginner it is very hard to do because you need to make 4 body movements at the same time with your legs, hips, arms, and head.

It'll all balance out eventually. It'd probably help, though, if *white people* quit telling black people that "white is right" in various ways. You hear that through enough generations of people, it starts sinking in.

Becuase people dont know A R was the tap dance kid in 1979 it was a play in nyc where he was the star for 3 years. he was tge tap dance kid in nyc and philly. after tap dance kid, he faded ....till fresh prince, i went to see the play in 79. he was the first child star and the first star of our generation. he was going all the way true super mega star. but after tap dance kid, he didnt do nothing till F prince.

People don't realize how well of a dancer Alfonso is. As a child, he had a stint on Broadway in the show "the Tap Dance Kid". I think he was around 12 years old. He then did a commercial with the Jackson's and then came "silver spoon" and the Fresh Prince. He can still tap dance if asked.

He invented it sure, and thus watching him perform it is always pleasurable, doesn't mean nobody can do it at least as well as him, I'm no good dancer myself but I believe it's just a matter of investment and possibly of practice in the execution of the move. It's uust that it's a recognizable trademark of his, and performing it would serve more as a flattering imitation/tribute than a proof that you're actually a good dancer.

2:00 The best thing Julianne could have said to Carlton: “People are going to remember Alfonso”! You can tell that meant a lot to him.

Right? I mean we all love Carlton but Alfonso even stated it was hard to find jobs in Hollywood because people couldn’t see him as himself, but rather saw him as Carlton and couldn’t take him seriously. I think this moment really meant a lot to him because he was able to separate the two and make distinctions on who he portrayed as an actor versus himself. Really moving moment for him!
