The Tempest
By Robert W. Smith
Item: 00-BD9561
Series: Belwin Beginning Band
Format: Conductor Score & Parts
Level: 1
The dictionary tells us that a tempest is "a violent windstorm, frequently accompanied by rain, snow or hail." In the hands of Robert W. Smith, the scoring supplies all of the fury and rage within the instruments of your band. This work takes us "by the bootstraps" right into the raw power of Mother Nature.

We are playing this in 6th grade and I play the flute and at measure 18 through 36 is a nightmare you got no rest and it’s constant but it’s fun and easy notes just these 2 different parts going back and forth and if you breath you might get lost at where you are. I also realize the clarinets have a painful time as well Edit wow a year later and I still keep getting likes thanks for 114 likes and wow I did not think anyone would find this comment. Edit again I’m in 8th grade and I quit band 😭😭 and I wasn’t even good anyway edit again i’m in 9th grade now and i’m still getting emails abt this

R.I.P., Robert W Smith. You have no clue how many lives you have touched, and how many you will continue to touch. I still remember my first concert in the school band. I was on clarinet, and this song pushed me to my limit in the best way possible. My dad cried that night. My aunt was part of the Troy band alongside him. My band director was also his student. All three of his will miss him.
