Unless you guys have something we never had. Yeah 13 is smallest freewheel and then you get into 2 piece drivers with a thread on cog. Those go to as low as 11th. And as large as 16. One piece drivers come in sizes 8 to 11 maybe larger.

I have an e-bike with an electric rear hub motor, and a 11-32 cassette I think (single at the front). Is it possible to change the cassette to a silent one? I assume the pawls are in the middle spinning bearing part of the cassette, nothing to do with the electric rear hub? Excuse my terminology by the way, I’m familiar with bikes but some terminologies confuse the hell out of me. Thanks

Well now I know that I can run a cassette on my dirt bmx instead of a freewheel! I wasn’t sure because I have a 39t sprocket on my bmx for dirt pump tracks for maximum speed per pedal rotation and I knew that was far too big to put on a 9t cassette driver but now I know how to modify one to make it a bigger cassette driver ! So I can disassemble the hub now that I know how and install a bigger cog and run my 39t sprocket if I wanted ! Sweeet I was thinking about going 9/28t but I think the big dinner plate sprocket looks and performs amazing

Why do race bikes run freewheels if the mini has bigger options for cogs or do they mostly run minis now?
@LoneWolfed3 жыл бұрын
I've been told by a racer. The torque from how hard they pedal would destroy a cassette hub. I don't buy it, but to each their own. I'm glad Profile invented the cassette. I don't miss freewheels.

@@LoneWolfed I know a lot of novice to pro guys that run cassettes and not a single one has bent or broke one. The best part is how quick and easy it is to swap gear ratios with very little down time between moto's to moto or to mains. Plus cogs are super cheap compared to freewheels.

The main reason cassette hubs were invented in the first place was to over come a problem that screw on type hubs had. On screw on hubs the axle is supported at the hub with an amount of axle over hanging to accommodate the sprocket/sprockets, over time, the unsupported part of the axle will inevitable bend, even BMX 14mm axles do over time. The invention of the cassette hub, simply puts the bearing support at the end of the axle, leaving no over hang of the axle and no bending of the axle over time.👍😊

Race bike vs. freestyle bike different hub for different purposes.
@bmxriderforlife12343 жыл бұрын
Phu is sorta wrong Alf is sorta right. The less links you have in a Chain the less strong it is and the more wear each link takes. Plus the 8th is so small most chains don't ride on them properly causing further issues. Larger sprockets means weaker sprockets. But smaller ones means weaker chains.
