Axles are 1/2"-20. I just ordered a set of NOS axles/hardware so I'll have a couple extra pairs I could throw your way once I get them. I'll also give you a lower SST cable to get that abomination off there lol. Not bad for $100, I'm about 15 times that into my Mirra now. It's really easy to get carried away lol.

That aluminum discoloration is exactly why I use Evaporust, It helps remove aluminum seatposts seized into steel doesn't deteriorate stickers or rubber. I restored an 84 Kuwahara KZ1 it removed all the corrosion in the head tube gusset. I started as a bike mechanic in 1989 I have quite a few videos on my channel that show the results, it is abit more expensive but it works and can be reused and it's non toxic.

I'd like to see you get your hands on a Gary Littlejohn Factory Cruiser (Lowboy) and see how you would build it. I didn't buy mine as complete bikes, so I'm curious to know what parts you would choose from today's choices for a 40 year old BMX cruiser.

On those axles they could be a M10 thread. I would take the axles to a machine shop and see if they can find a bolt so they can size the thread. Try a good parts or hardware store for a shouldered nut.

I'd be more worried about a mechanic who never mentions lube than one who's obsessed with it. 😉 I was a little confused about one thing though, why would you tip everything out on the floor if you can't bend over? I completely agree about replacing cables. Not replacing them is like having a bath and then putting on dirty socks.

I'm learning a lot along the way. Getting back into bikes. So expensive to drive right now might as well try and get some money out of selling bikes. Thanks for doing the videos plus a laugh out of these vids. I like the riding videos as well. At 39. Wishing I would have stayed in BMX. It was my calling at 13 when I bought my first bike a 1997 GT vertigo chrome with purple stickers. Only one they had. Beating my head against the wall the chain stretched, so I borrowed a rim. And forgot all about the rim. So hopefully I can find a good replacement. Why is everyone going away from 48 hole wheels.

With how the bars and other parts are pitted, I'd probably search for better condition identical parts and replace. Though I could see doing it his way on a different bike that would actually look good with the wear and pitting. It's just that for this bike, I think having clean and spotless parts would definitely bring back the overall "luster" when it was new. To each their own, as my opinion is just on my preferences.

Love watching Phu. It’s obvious why people bring you there old bikes. Hey just wondering if the axels are standard 1/2 inch thread . I’d take one of them to McFadden-Dale Industrial Hardware. I’d be really surprised if they don’t have something that works and looks nice too. Great videos keep it up.
@petequinones34542 жыл бұрын
The problem with threaded rod is most stuff you find at hardware stores and other stores is the rod isn't hardened. Most hardened rod has that black oxide coating. The industrial place you suggested would definitely be the best bet. They should be able to find or have something strong enough with the right thread pitch.

great vid foo, im going to help you out. what you need to do is buy some busch aluminum cleaner and polish. it is hands down the best aluminum polish ive used period. nothing else even comes close to it. you could easily polish up all aluminum on this bike to shine like chrome. the cleaner you buy is acid based and works very very well. ive used it on my harleys and its great. it requires barely any effort to polish compared to other brands. it also gets the aluminum alot shinier as well. for chrome polish i use chemical brothers. its the best ive tried so far for chrome. i really enjoy the vids but PLEASE STOP W THE CLICKBAIT TITLES. theres no need for that at all. its also a sure fire way to get people to not come back. i appreciate the helpful vids thats for sure. im alot older now and ive been thinking of buying another dyno like i rode when i was a kid. if you didnt know another way to remove rust from chrome is 0000 steel wool. you can use it dry or use a lubricant like 3 in 1 oil or whatever you want as a lubricant even wd. some chrome may scratch so try a test spot first. works great on spokes though thats for sure. ive cleaned up alot of harleys. im telling you though buy some busch aluminum polish you wont regret it at all. i bet people will ask how the hell the aluminum stems are so shiny lol. id be curious how aluminum rims would turn out with it. almost forgot they sell a wax that you can put on after you polish so the shine lasts longer.

Funny story when i was younger i had stripped down my redline to paint it so it was in pieces in the garage then went somewhere with my mom for the day out shopping i even had her buy the paint came home stoked to paint opened the shop to see the entire shop was spotless and all my parts were missing! Ran inside and said "uhh dad where did you put all my bike parts i had laying out ??" He gave ne the oh shit i fucked up badly look an goes "son i thought those were thw junk parts an i finally got around to doing a scrap and dump run im sorry !!" Instantly pissed like " you threw my bike away!!" Mom made him go to the landfill and see if he could find it and he didnt!" Well i come home from school a week later and theres a "walmart next bike box on the porch i just pushed it aside and walked by it for 3 more dahs when my dad comes and says " what that bike not good enough !" I laugh and say" im not riding that ! " Finally he says open the box so i did and low and beyond he bought the same haro as this on ebay and the person had sent it in a Walmart bike box!! It came so many different haro parts like with a pair of 4pieces bars and then 2 pieces bars all 4 pegs an two different seats man did I feel so dumb for not opening it the first day !!
