Love this. Looking into an algal pbr utilizing renewable energy… I would love to talk to someone on the team today! If the operations still running

Suggestion/Question? Could Heliostats be used to redirect 2x 3x or more of sunlight needed at that latitude? A few mirrors, rather than artificial light/watts purchased.

by the way which type of algae are u guys using
@blastking20068 жыл бұрын
hey can I come over to Vermont to learn about this algae bio oil extraction process
@VermontBioenergy11 жыл бұрын
Hmmm. yes, this could work. The challenge is at this latitude (in VT), the artificial lights are needed most when cloud cover is the greatest (so 2x or 3x "times" zero still means the algae aren't getting the light they require). But concentrating winter sunlight with the heliostats is very interesting. I've forwarded this to the researchers here. Thx - Netaka

Since algae consumes CO2 then it can be use as a CO2 trapper. Like the car exhausts. Right? I was planning to make a study about it.

Could you please share the basic idea of how you are going to run simulations for the growth of algae as a function of turbulence in water?

Please,which type of algae?is it cyanobacteria blue green algae?
@sengeekhurelbaatar463910 жыл бұрын
Wow. It seems very promising and environmental friendly technology. Because it consumes CO2 and produces O2 when feedstock growing. But maybe it needs so much time to get commercial. Good luck your research guys!

Thank you! It couples very well (and economics are improved) with waste water clean up and treatment too, as well as aquaculture and hydroponics. And the leftover algae cake can be made into a potent fertilizer as well. Very promising! We are currently at lab scale, but steps are being taken now to grow into farm scale, with a private lab in burlington, VT using waste from a local dairy and brewery as medium for growing algae. Stay tuned...

Is it currently possible for someone to cost effectivly make there own bio fuel from a homemade algae opperation. This question is killing me and any links or suggestions on the matter would be great.

How much energy is needed to produce energy?

Im a science student, was wondering about mixing several species of algae that are high yield oil producers, and some that are better at surviving and predator protection, to maximize oil production, also wondering if you have tried using different light wavelenght to see which produces the highest yield?

John thanks for the input. Can you give us an idea of an existing anaerobic bacteria to alcohol process. I'm stumped. - Netaka

Ottima alternativa al petrolio fossile!!!!! Potra' essere la fonte di energia ke il mondo a bisogno con la continua crescita demografica e la continua crescita del prezzo del greggio

I picture small sustainable co-op/energy companies. Thousands of them :) where the jobs/fuel/dollars ALL stay local
@Kiyarose39992 жыл бұрын
Yes! Exactly what I’ve been saying, imagine if we all made Algae Bio Fuel etc locally, our communities would get all the fuel etc money that is currently siphoned off by Big Oil !!! It would be a Cyclic/Regenerative economy! 🌎✊🏽🌻

The issue isn't extraction... we can produce fuel by many means... it's all about productiom Expenditure... P.S. Please fund my start up... I am working on it to reduce the cost. Regards, VIP Energies

Biofuels are like milk. You can't drink too much of it, and you can't drink too less of it. What I'm trying to say is that, the price of Biofuel won't go up because lots of people will need it. Right?
@VermontBioenergy10 жыл бұрын
That's a good question. In our programs, we are focused on local production for local use, to deliver maximum benefit to farms and businesses in Vermont. The localized model reduces transportation costs, but production costs are still being improved through research and development.

Instead of expending the energy to extract the oil, how about just drying the algae and burning it to generate heat to heat water and drive a steam generator? I know this won't work for vehicles.
@VermontBioenergy10 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the idea! We are focused on liquid fuels currently, but we always appreciate this kind of dialogue.

VermontBioenergy so can you extract the oil from algae using a home hand oil press? i saw people extracting oil using hulking motor driven presses that cost $10,000+. will a hand press do the same or no?
