I highly recommend the book ALL ABOUT ALGAE - Exploring Phycology or Algology: A Comprehensive Guide to Algae and their Significance

Love this video, you are absolutely right about all the points you made.

thanks! glad you appreciated it! took me awhile to gather proper and documented evidences for that video, some are even proper scientific studies and journals but I forgot to list my references

Makes sense. The only tank I have that has absolutely no algae is a no filter bowl standing right right at the south window. Full sunlight all day, for about 4 months now. I don't even change the water, I'm just topping it up once a while.

Hmm try an Iwagumi with overdosed Nutrients and direct Sunlight :-) might be surprising. All I want to say is that a fast growing plantmass is what is capable of fighting alot of the myths you have busted. This also includes permanent trimming to keep them healthy from bottom to top.

Ooh I'd love to try that one! I still think it's possible with proper plant selection, EI method, co2 injection and good water surface to volume ratio. Big emphasis on plant selection haha! You sir deserve a clap! 👏. I forgot to point out how important plant mass and selection is. I also have a strong sentiment on the difference between aquascaping and an aquarium with plants in it. I will point those out on my future videos since I am an aquascaping channel! Thank you so much! 😊😊😊😊

Yup, fast growing plants a key to fighthing off algae. Good reminder.

Direct sunlight can help grow algae if raises the temperature of the water in the tank. Warm water makes it harder for co2 to dissolve, speeds up plant metabolism, etc.

True, but wouldn't it be water temperature in general and not necessarily sunlight? Here's an analogy, Rusty nails can have the bacteria Clostridium tetani which causes tetanus. Rusty nails don't cause Tetanus directly, C. tetani does. Same thing with sunlight. Sunlight does not cause algae directly but rather ammonia and organic wastes from struggling plants do. The thing is, us hobbyists can freely interchange causation and correlation which dilutes the specifics of the hobby. I mean bright lights and warm temp can help with algae growth but it is not the actual cause. Healthy tanks can exists with really bright lights and warm temperatures and Algae-ridden tanks exists on lowlight tanks with normal to cool temperatures. So it rules out lights and temp as the ACTUAL CAUSE but is rather CORRELATED with algae growth.

Addint more nutrients wont cause algae? for example if u overdose phosphate in a high level also wont get algae ?? hmmm ?

The assumed correlation between PO4, plants and algae was a good but outdated study waaaay back in 1978. 1978! its already been refuted by more updated studies done on all type of settings, wide range of nutrient levels from oligotrophic to hypertrophic setups/environments. DO NOTE THE BIG DIFFERENCE BETWEEN CORRELATION AND CAUSATION. In the 80s it was thought that nitrogen and PO4 can algae algae. By the late 90s N and P is now part of our liquid fert regime? See? Outdated knowledge and a complete misunderstanding passed down by word of mouth with no scientific basis whatsoever.

Mature algae uses PO4 and N for growth, but it doesn't cause algae. If you have an aquarium or a pool and want to remove the algae you can deprive them by removing PO4. BUT if you have an AQUASCAPE and remove the phosphates or limit the phosphates then, its more likely that your plants will die but the algae wont
