You can do Faro-Porto direct its an interesting journey on the blue train, lots of stops and train maneuveuring, got restaurant/bar, takes 9 hours or so.

You can't buy them online, but at the station this won't be a problem.

You're welcome, actually l only walked in Faro, because it's a small town. For long distance busses, you can check the website of Alsa or Flixbus.

At the station and at the staff.. these tickets can't be bought online (only long distance train tickets can be bought online).

@@Trainviking Thanks, I've found it, nice video too. Electrification works (catenary installation and a new traction substation in Olhão) from Faro to Vila Real are about to begin and conclusion will be in 20 months.
