Absolutely beautiful can you fly directly from Canada to the Algarve?🇨🇦 I’ll be heading there in July, but I was going to land in Porto and make my way south maybe on a train Beautiful video. Thanks guys.
@worldwildhearts6 ай бұрын
I'm not sure if there's a flight to Faro from Canada directly? The main airport in the Algarve is Faro. Otherwise, Lisbon is also a great gateway. We took the bus from Lisbon to Lagos and it didn't take too long. There are also good train connections. From Porto, the best way is definitely to take the train! Definitely spend a few days in Porto itself, it's a great city

@worldwildhearts Жыл бұрын
Awesome! We'd recommend a week at least... there's a lot to see and do, especially if you also want to spend some time on the beaches as well 😊 You could definitely drive a vespa around, depending on how far the places are you want to visit. We drove one for a day but only went from Lagos to Sagres, which was the max for us in a day

Not at this time! Didn’t make it beyond Faro, mainly because most locals told us that it’s less beautiful there

As a Portuguese that goes to Algarve every single year for vacation, The eastern portion is definitely worth a visit the waters can get to above 25 degrees (Celsius) and we find it much more appealing for tourists that might wanna go to a Hotel or even explore… Edit: It’s very different from the western coast. But I’m not saying it’s better than the western coast, just for clearance.

@worldwildhearts Жыл бұрын
Hi! Two days for the Algarve is rather short, but you can definitely fit in some of the highlights! Are you planning to get there from Lisbon? I think the train is an experience but a bit more experience. We took the bus from Lisbon to Lagos. But from Lagos to Faro we took a train. So really depends, both are possible. Praia da Marinha is gorgeous! Enjoy your time in the Algarve. 😊
@ingan9924 Жыл бұрын

Quick question we are traveling to Portugal for a week. My wish list is to visit Lisbon, Porto, Sintra and Algarve and if possible Madeira. I don’t know if it’s all possible. Honestly, is day and half enough for Algarve and how long do we need in Porto. We have two teenagers. We are traveling in 3rd of week of December. Sorry for so many questions and thanks in advance for help
@worldwildhearts2 жыл бұрын
Hi! That sounds like a lot of places you want to fit into a week. I don't think it's possible, it would be too much time transiting to the places. Lisbon and Sintra can easily be combined in a 2-3 day visit, Porto is definitely worth a 2-3 day stay (it takes about 3 hours form Lisbon to get there). The Algarve is widespread and there's a lot to see. It might be a better place to visit during the spring/summer as it's mostly beaches and I think most of the places are closed down during this time of the year because the tourist season has ended. However, you could definitely add it for a few days. It would be best to choose between Madeira or Algarve in that case. Madeira has beautiful nature, but it's definitely rainy at this time of the year. Another option is to make a stop between Lisbon and Porto... Obidos is a beautiful town in between and can be easily explored in a day. Nazaré has some crazy high waves during this time of the year so might be worth to go storm watching / seeing the maverick surfers. Apparently the city of Coimbra is also a must-visit (but we haven't been!)

Is it too much to do the hike and then kayak the cave in one day?

Hello, I am planning a 10 day trip to Portugal in May. I have a few questions: 1. How far is the seven hanging valley’s trail and the caves from Lagos. I really don’t want to rent a car so I was wondering how we would get there?
@TaavP2 жыл бұрын
You most def will need a way to get there, either by car or public transportation. AH! Maybe you can find a boat tour starting from Lagos that takes you to the Benagil Cave, but not for the trail. If you are based in Lagos you can trail walk to ponta da piedade and praia da luz (a bit further), you can enjoy the bars and streets of Lagos, the many beaches (praia do Camilo, Meia Praia, praia dos estudantes, etc) etc. first Car day: go to Sagres, Burgau and the west coast. See what Sagres has to offer and if you like surfing do a surf lesson there. Head up for a wild adventure to Miradouro da Cordoama, enjoy the scenery (it's a lot for one day if you want to do it relaxed, wake up early) second car day: Go to the seven valley trail and Benagil cave third car day: Go to Monchique and Alto da Foía, or do a 4x4 tour like the one in the video. I would suggest for the rest of the days to just relax and enjoy Lagos vibe, but if you want more car journeys you have Cacela Velha and it's beach, Tavira and it's Island and Silves. I'll have an airbnb in Sagres this summer, def not ready in May though ahah If you need suggestions feel free to ask.
@worldwildhearts2 жыл бұрын
Yes it's not easy to get there! Public transportation might be a bit tricky, you can take the bus to Portimão from Lagos (we took that bus before!) and then hop on another bus to Carvoeiro/Lagao which brings you closer to the trail and cave. From there, you could check if there's an Uber available in the area? We used Uber a lot in Lisbon, but not sure how popular it is in the Algarve. Otherwise a taxi might be your best bet (saves at least a bit of money).
@ipedros7 Жыл бұрын
With public transport, is as mentioned already (just note Lagao in one comment should be Lagoa). A taxi or uber to Praia da Marinha (PM) or Praia dos Centeanes (PC) as they'll be either a starting or end points. Carvoeiro is 2km from PC. Uber is very popular in the Algarve, especially from May. But prices aren't much different to local taxis which offer a great service. Both Lagoa or Carvoeiro are under15 minutes drive to PM. So the taxi drives won't be too expensive. From Lagos to PC or PM is about 40km, so prob around €45 each leg. Depending how many of you there are, or time available, it might make sense to do one or even both legs by taxi/uber. HTH

@worldwildhearts Жыл бұрын
Hi! Wow Portugal would be a cool place to retire. Beautiful country. If you like beaches, but want a cheaper area then you might find something in the Ericeira area (not in the city center, but something a little outside there along a more unknown strip of beach). In terms of places in the Algarve haven't looked at housing prices, but it seemed like Aljezur in the Algarve might have a little more affordability compared to somewhere like Lagos for example.

What would be the best mean of travel ? Car ?
@worldwildhearts2 жыл бұрын
Renting a car would be easiest overall as some places are hard to reach (like Benagil). But some places are also doable by public transport. There's a train for example that takes you from Lagos to Albufeira, Faro, and some other places. There's also a public bus. We rented a car for 1 day and a scooter for another one. The rest we did by public transport :)

@@worldwildhearts thanks for your reply ! How’s parking like is it available or costly ?
@worldwildhearts2 жыл бұрын
Parking is sometimes a bit challenging as some places have small parking lots (like Praia da marinha where you start the hanging valleys hike). Others are perfectly fine like Benagil has a big parking space. In some towns you have to pay a fee (like the center of Lagos), but it’s very cheap
