Thank you so very much for your fantastically clear explanations re: graphing quadratic equations. This is the first time in my 70+ yeards that I understood what those equations meant. Thank you again.

Thanks for sharing. It is exciting to finally grasp something you didn't quite understand before. (Happens to me all the time).

Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Finally I understand what all these terms are referring to. I have watched scores of demonstrations and yours is the first that has turned on the light, Thank you.

Your teachings are on point, much love. Before we teach, we should be able to view it visually. My stress levels have gone far down after being able to visual a quadratic equation

Dear Michel, I enjoyed this lecture. It was really organized and scientific as always. Recently I uploaded a couple of videos about quadratic functions (part 1 and 2). I shall be grateful to you if you have look ( specially the part 2 ) and update me about your helpful ideas. Take care of yourself and educational community. Sincerely yours, PAYMAN

@@MichelvanBiezen Sir, you have literally opened up a whole new world for me, a world full of excitement, and elegant mathematical logic. I am saving your videos on my playlist, and am learning and memorising new concepts step by step. I find the shortcuts to calculating the vertex and the roots etc, are also so helpful and interesting. There is so much to learn, and I know I am, by God's grace, just at the beginning of an exciting journey. Thank you for posting these excellent videos.

Hello Michael, very interring and easy to understand presentation! Just question : from your example y=- (x+1)^2- 2, Is the negative sign outside the parenthesis intended only for the x and not the constant inside the parenthesis? I was thinking that the +1 will also change into negative thus shifted to the right! Thank you!
@MichelvanBiezen5 жыл бұрын
The sign is intended for everything inside the parentheses. First you need to square the contents and then apply the negative sign. But in this form, it is easier to see the shape and position of the graph.

This video should be the 2nd one in the playlist, not the last. Otherwise, very succinct!!

Hi Thanks a lot for the useful videos. I humbly wanted to draw your attention to the last graph on the right side, that you correctly drew it on the board, in describing how to draw the equation’s graph, but it shows differently on the opening(introduction) page of the video. Since it shows (-2) as the Y-intercept, while I think that (-2) is the Y value of the vertex, and the Y-intercept should be (-3) for the related equation. Thanks again

why does the 5 in the y=5x sqaure make the parabola thinner and the 1/10 in y= 1/10x square make the parabola wider
@MichelvanBiezen8 жыл бұрын
In each case plug in the values for x = 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 and see how it changes the value for y. Then graph is and see what it looks like.

Michel van Biezen were do i plug these numbers into
When completing the square, why do some KZbin Math teachers add the middle terms on the left hand side and to the right hand sides, while others minus the term they have just squared on the left hand side. You get two different answers, right. I just so confounded by which method to use. Please, help! 😃🤓
@MichelvanBiezen5 жыл бұрын
All methods (when executed correctly) will give you the same answer. Without seeing a specific example I cannot show where the error is that caused the answers to be different.
