Tip you guys: Try to keep your 'x' positive, don't have 'x' as a negative, so instead just swap the sides of you have to!

My Maths teacher rushes her stuff, and even when she does explain, she gives us this long explanation of how to do it. She even gets so mad at us. Ive recently been going home and opening up youtube to revise and learn about these things as I am doing my GCSES. Hey guys 😊 just a tip, but a negative and a positive ( - + ) always equals a negative and a negative and a negative always equals a positive ( - - )

It's because to change a negative to a positive, you multiply by negative 1. For example, -4 X -1 =4. So since both sides of the equation were negative, he just multiplied each side by negative 1. This just changes the sides from negative, to positive.
