Thanks for the video. I was really stumped with this equation in my mathbook. The answer key only tells you so much. Working through it is priceless.

I appreciate this video very much; it is done quite well and also it is explained well. This is a kind of problem if you mess up one step, your done, and you make it easy. Thanks! Algebra 1 student

So all i did was take 10 mph and multiplied it by 5 hours as rate times time = d. and i got 50miles. then i added up the two distances of 24 + 24 and got 48. 50-48= 2miles. Distance is directly proportional to speed so long as the time is constant which in this case it is. So i got my answer in about 3 or 4 steps lol. Not saying i'm better than you, but common sense can be used to solve most of these problems

Just a small quip: While there isn't technically a negative velocity, the negative and positive values tell us whether or not we are going left or right on our number line with regards to velocity. Imagine a car going backwards on a number line. The car would be headed in a negative direction on the number line.

learning to read a math textbook is a fine art i think; i had to get used to them as well. however, KEEP READING! in my opinion, it is one of the single best things i did. i mean, in what class beside math (the hard one) would someone not read the book (duh); but i think tons of people do not (most in fact).

I actually set-up the formal for this equation correctly: like the way you show it at the bottom of your page @ 4:24. I didn’t have any REAL IDEA as to how to go about solving it though. Is there a name for this type of equation (kind of like there are names for polynomials, or quadratics)? I need to look up similar equations (not necessarily WORD PROBLEMS) to practice. Thanks
@melissasedam215510 жыл бұрын
Also when you multiply both sides is it just a rule? Or because i thought you empty one side both are cluttered... is this a mistake on your behalf.????? When you inverse something its to empty side so the left should be cwancelling out the denominators right?...

i need help with this question (finding depth of a well.) A stone is dropped into a well,and the time it take to hear the splash is 4sec. Find the depth of the well . Assume that the speed of sound is 1100ft/sec and that D= 16 t^2 is the distance D of an object falls in (t) seconds.

could you help me with this problem?? I tried using your method and i didn't get the right answer. A truck travels 350 km to a delivery point, unloads, and, now empty, returns to the starting point at a speed 8.00 km/h greater than on the outward trip. what was the speed of the outward trip if the total round-trip driving time was 14.4 h?

Excellent video! However, I understand the entire concept of the equation with the exception of distributing 10-C & 10+C to both sides. My understanding of 10-C & 10+C applied to the left side of the equations is great. But on the right I see that the10-C & 10+C cancel out, in which I'm left with 10+C & 10+C how does that equate to 24(10-C). How do two negatives become a positive?

okay im not saying this to brag lets clear that up. im in advanced math classes by like 2-3 years. and im probably the average guy in my advanced class. and even the smarter people of the class get stuck on word problems. schools dont focus on word problems that have to do with this kind of stuff enough. in pre algebra there were the simplest word problems ever. and in algebra 1 they get like 10 times as hard.

At approximately 6 :10 in this video I got scared of your teaching. Please educate me on why. I see we are doing the inverse to the fractions which are ttechniquely divition. But 5(10-c)(10+c) how are you getting the parenthesis befor distributing... the 5 the answer changes drastically. I hope you don't mind answering my question because I'm a mom who hopes to achieve a comfy survival of a career i choose. So how come your using pemdas but distribution isnt mentioned in pemdas.... perhaps the multyplying is why. I have watched various videos I am still stuck. I am married I do not what your flirtation your wife can rest assured. Much appreciation, Young and desperate mom, Melissa
