I'm struggling with this topic, you know when they give an algebraic expression and whether its out of another one or not. We usually suggest it's out of 1, however in the textbooks they'd treat it as the numerator. For example in 17:01 it shows "3x+6/x-4" however we also regard this to be out of "3x+6/(x-4)(3x+6)".

13:37. When you add the fractions together how come you don’t add the expanded denominators together? Aren’t you supposed to do the same to the denominator as you do to the numerator? 14:39. One question please? do you know when they ask you simplify it as a single fraction. are you supposed to factorise the denominator aswell because i had a mock today and there was a question that said and leave it as a single fraction or something like that.. and i factorise both the top and bottom but never got full marks as i believe i was just supposed to factorise the top? Can you please make a part 2 to this video where you solve algebraic fractions ! that would be extremely helpful my brother

pashtun lion I would need to see the question. but generally the denominator can remain factorised once it has been simplified. I am definitely going to do a further video looking over harder algebraic fractions, the plan is to do solving algebraic fractions and also another video on the 5 hardest algebraic fractions 😁🙏🏼

He is subtracting the two numerators, the same way you do when you're subtracting two normal fractions from each other. 18x - 8x = 10x and -12 - 8 = -20 . so 10x - 20
