Just stumbled onto this channel. Those Paris pulks worked out well for you. Too bad you had to cut it short. Had I seen your previous scouting video a few months ago I would have suggested collab out there. I miss the Gonk. I've been trying out some new gear this winter (mostly nylon shelters) but have come to terms with the canvas option and will be selling my nylon gear and returning to the Snowtrekker (8x10 shortwall) for next season. I see you have the older version Crew with the classic roll-up door, reminds me of HOOP. I have a couple more trips planned for north of the Park but will keep you in mind for next season and will drop you a line. Cheers.

Thanks for your comment and for watching. I also prefer the canvas - despite the additional weight. Nylon is too wet (for me) in winter. Good eye noticing my old snowtrekker. She is still going strong. Hope your upcoming trips are a blast. Cheers.

Awesome experience indeed! Greetings from the 🇺🇸 A bummer Dave couldn’t make it as planned but that the way it goes sometimes and we can’t control it. Thanks for taking us along! Did you see any wildlife by the way?

Thanks for your comment Phuong. And to answer your question... I did not see any wildlife - although I did see wolf tracks and scat. I had meant to film them... oh well. I checked our your channel and ... wow! Your video capture of the Great Gray owl is crazy! When it turns its head toward the camera is just unreal! Cheers.

The Sunday Lake Dog Sled trail access is off the same road that leads to the sanitation station. It is around km 37. Hope that helps! Thanks for watching. Cheers!

looks like they pull great,,, how long did you cut poles for 2nd and 3rd sled.. I'm going to start pulling 2 sleds for 1 or 2 weeks.

Thanks for your comment! Yes, they do pull great and they also track very well on tighter trails. I could have fit all the gear on two sleds... but thought that the train would be a better way to go - helping each sled to float lighter / better. I cut the PVC pieces to 24" each. Hope that helps. Cheers.

Hi can you tell me how hilly the trail is to your camp location
@iCanoe_
@iCanoe_ 9 ай бұрын
It was mostly uphill to the camp location - but still manageable with the sleds. Thanks for watching and commenting.

We wanted to go hiking and camping in March, but it seems that appointments are not allowed now. Did you need to make an appointment when you go? Or we just need to buy a license.

I just bought a permit at the west gate entrance. In winter it is much easier to book. Thanks for watching.

If buying permit online to winter camp sunday lake dog sled trail... which access/entry point do you pick? Or choose "Remote Winter Backcountry"? than park vehicle at ? Are we allow to park at Big Pine Trail and start from there as well? Wonder if it'll be safe with my fwd sedan.

Hey Mike. Thanks for watching. Not sure about how to purchase winter camping permits online. I got my permits at the West Gate on my way in. Yes, you are allowed to park at Big Pines and begin your camp from there. It is also a great area to winter camp in. You will have no trouble with your sedan so long as the lot has been plowed. Again, check with the park to ensure that they are currently plowing the Big Pines lot as the plowing regimen does change from year to year. You may also consider winter camping at Mew Lake in the old airfield. Mew Lake campground is always plowed and the travel is flatter than the undulating dog sled trail.

@@iCanoe_ So in your case, what permit did you purchase as? as in what type of camping? and what access point? Trying to see if in person at the gate and online options are same or diff. Thanks.!

@xx mike I just purchased a back country camping permit. In winter you can camp anywhere, so I am not sure how the online system works. You do not need to enter by way of a specific access point. I would recommend purchasing your ticket at either the East gate or the West gate on your way in.

@@iCanoe_ Thanks for quick reply. Yeah doing it online require to select entry point. It has few options like Mew Lake, Art Gallery, and there is "Other Remote Winter Backcountry". I guess that is the one for going anywhere. Hope to see more videos :D
