LORE SPECULATION: May Contain Spoilers on Sumeru Story Quest!!! To all of those pulling for Alhaitham, I hope you pull him! 🤞 With the recent Sumeru story quest, I think there are 3 possibilities. I’m placing my predictions here and going to see what happens in the game. :) 1. He could be working for a higher authority in the Akademiya, or working directly for Kusanali herself like Yae Miko for Ei or Xiao for Zhongli. Personally, I think this is most likely the case… but who knows? 2. He could be working for the Fatui, just like Childe. That would explain his shifty actions with taking the Divine Knowledge Capsule… 3. This one is a bit of a reach, but I’m really fascinated by the idea of Alhaitham being a former Dendro archon… The heavily-devout Eremites mentioned the “Skarlet King,” who seems to be a god of Sumeru who was undermined by the Greater Lord Rukkhadevata. Could he be pulling a “Zhongli” and giving up his power for Kusanali? I think this is a bit out there, but it’s worth mentioning. Good luck on your pulls!!!

I think you're right with #1, he works for either the sages or Kusanali though I think if he does work for Kusanali it'll be in secret while he pretends to be on the sages side. I do think the story would probably be a lot more interesting if he was actually working with the Fatui (lotta people say he looks like Dottore so could be a segment of his) or is an incarnation of Rukkhadevata though, the Scarlet King is super interesting to me atm so I'm trying to comb through the lore to find any mentions of him right now.

Al-Haitham looks like Su. In the Second Key manga Su mentioned something called The Seed of Sumeru. Might just be a coincidence but we know Teyvat is a bubble universe of Honkai’s universe

Yup! And Su even says that he's seen alternate versions of himself (I think one is a woman and tries to kill him iirc?) so I wonder if Al-Haitham has also found a way to look into other universes too. That'd make for some fantastic lore.

Me too! Feels like things are ramping up especially with the Fatui making some big moves like burning that tree. Strange that the machines in the desert look Khaenri'ahn but even more advanced too, can't wait to find out about those!

@@TheLaughingManLore I always thought Khanaeriah was gen2 of the First Advanced Civilization, each newer gen becoming less technologically advanced but retaining a good of amount of the first civilization's knowledge. This new Sumeru ancient civilization maybe just be older than Khanaeriah's but not necessarily the First Civilization. I can't wait to find all the hidden details that's gonna be left behind in Sumeru

I truly believe he's reincarnation of Scartel King or somehow connected to this god. *TOO MANY* coincidences... 1. Eyes In short cutscene in archon quest when we were introduced to Deshret story we can see something like an eye. And it wouldn't be so special if not the fact that Alhaitham has THE SAME shape and colours in his eyes like the one of Scarlet. 2. Name Scarlet King was son of the skies. And what comes to mind when you think about sky? Cloudes and BIRDS. And "Alhaitham" means "young eagle". 3. Horus eye on his clothes On his headphones and one part of his clothes you can literally see "Hours Eye". And as we know Scartel King was showing as this egyptian God. Also Hours eye is symbol of reborn and coming back to health. 4. Too smart for normal human being In Nahida'a voiceline about Alhaitham she says that Alhaitham is VERY smart. And we also can see it in the quests. Even Paimon was like "what kind of NORMAL person sees those things?". And let's not forget Deshret was one of smart Gods. 5. Forbidden Knowledge isn't working on him as on normal human During cut scene we can see that Alhaitham can control himself even after using Forbidden Knowledge capsule. He used it AND still had his own mind which allowed him to keep doing the plan. And who was the one who started to put Forbidden Knowledge into Teyvat? King Deshret! 6. The crystal on Alhaitham's chest After Scarlet King's death he left one crystal after. The same-looking crystal that Alhaitham has in his own chest. Also he knows Zhongli BUT we don't know if Alhaitham knows that Zhongli is Morax.

There's gotta be some sort of connection there for sure, I mention some stuff in my Cyno video like him possibly being related to the Ibis King but any sort of links to ancient beings like that would be really interesting to me. The crystal and his eyes are the big ones that stand out most to me but I feel like we need a bit more context to really make sense of it all, which we'll hopefully get in 3.4. I might make another video on him when we get some drip marketing as there's a lot more I have to say about him after 3.2's events.

Only speculating on that since he's a scholar from Sumeru and seems to be knowledgeable enough to hold a conversation with Zhongli and it be enjoyable for him. I do hope I'm right though as I'd love to see them interact!

My theory is Alhaitham is a clone of Dottore which is why he’s so secretive and looks for knowledge about the divine. I detail I noticed is that if you look carefully under Alhaitham’s grey hair you can see a tint of Dottore’s hair colour

Nothing is impossible in Teyvat but I'm more of the mind he has ties to Deshret with his Horus symbology and Deshret representing Horus' father Osiris (amongst many other influences). I'm leaning towards him either being a creation of Deshret's (robot/descendant) or him somehow incorporating some of Deshret's technology into himself like a cyborg, with how little info we have it's hard to say though. Not ruling anything out yet!
