I've noticed something watching these interviews, what I see as the good, the bad, and the clever. The interviewees I respect are the ones who try to lead Ali g to see for himself the logic flaws in his (deliberately misled) arguments. These people go WITH the line of logic. Dr schultze here patiently leads Ali to think through his own suggestions. The alternative, are the people who RESIST his logic or, even worse, resist him as a person. For example, Virginia wood uses the 'offended' card. Andy runey refuses him based on poor English. Tony benn is the best interviewee I've seen because he not only flaws Ali's logic but LEVERAGES it to empower the image of the english people. And all with dignity and good humour. That's RESPECK.

I think it's often just a culture clash. To Americans, this alien-like man could well be a weird 'British' thing, and even if you suspect it as a hoax, you still take a reputation-damaging risk in calling shenanigans. It's more the wind-up that interests me, because that is precisely cohen's trap - to reveal your prejudices.
@BeatlesLoveFrieden5 жыл бұрын
Don't forget how Buzz Aldrin uses Ali G's ignorance to teach.
@ElementsMMA5 жыл бұрын
Yes you nailed it perfectly. There’s definitely 3 levels to dealing with Ali, 1; be offended and triggered by him which is what we all really want, 2; be confused and try to reason with him or even potentially sniff him out which is less entertaining; or finally, 3; use his rhetoric to ram down his throat the concept that it is wastes like him that are bringing down the country which only Tony Benn has ever actually succeeded in doing. Admittedly Sachs is not actually a waste at all and hoodwinked Tony as good as he ever hoodwinked anyone, but the passion for wiping out scumbags knows no bounds to some people; Bennett was not going to take any chances..
