Funny how that happens, it can be decades and in a snap we know every word.

This was a big A/C hit that played throughout the summer of 1980 and had a fairly strong Top 40 chart cross as well. It just got "lost" from the air though once it peaked and seemed gone for good within a year or so.

It's amazing how certain songs can immediately transport you back to a specific time and place. Summer 1980. I had just graduated from high school. While I was excited to go to college to start the next phase of my life, I also felt deep sadness about saying goodbye to close childhood friends. This song always brings back those feelings so vividly.

His voice almost resembles Paul McCartney a little bit. I remember when this tune first came out in 1980 and I thought it was McCartney singing until I heard it was Ali Thomson. Excellent tune!

Back in 1980, was in Florida on holiday with my parents, heard this ditty on my new transistor radio my parents got me, thought it was Paul McCartney at first. A couple of days later, I accidentally left my radio behind and my tiny purse at the Lincoln Road Mall, came back and it was gone but my little purse was still there. Do not remember if I got another radio or not ;)

This reminds me if The Washington County Fair in 1980. I took my Mom & Dad & my 11 month Nephew. The local paper took a picture of my 63 year old Dad eating an ice cream cone. I also associate this with radio stations AM 1110 WKEG & 1450 WJPA/95.3 K COUNTRY, WYTK, broadcasting from the fair.

I was out with my brother the other day cellmapping and heard this song on iHeartradio on a channel with Casey Kasem's Top 40 of 1980 and I had to use Shazam on my phone to see who sung that song since the app on my Cadillac wasn't showing it on the screen. Great song and like others here, I sure miss the 70's & 80's music with the help of Casey Kasem's Top 40 countdowns thanks to that channel on iHeartradio. Casey Kasem Counts Down 70's & 80's Hits

Rochester FreeRadio Yup! I kind of agree with "Pilot of the airwaves" with that label...many are familiar with Ali's 2nd single to make the charts "Live every minute", which just missed making the Top 40, peaking at #42..thus he's being called a semi-one hit wonder, because he barely missed being a "two-hitter"! Heehee!😂 Both are fantastic songs though for sure! Have a great weekend and Take Care! Ms. Elizabeth📟🎧🎻💿📻🎵
@michaelfox96137 жыл бұрын
Muzikgirl67 for us, one hit wonder is one top 40 hit. Even if they had other hot 100 hits. Mainly because most stations wouldn't have played non top 40 hits.
