I remember her early movie & seeing her on talk shows & her Calvin Klein commercial & I always thought does this young girl have any guardian watching over her not realizing her Mother was signing these contracts & encouraging it all!

Thank God for Ali and Lana. Everyone has wounds and need support without criticism. Thank goodness Brooke has that with them. 💛💛💛

The studio originally wanted to cast Jodie Foster who was 14 at the time and Louis Malle, the director and writer said she was too old and that's how Brooke got the part who was 11 at the time....kinda gross

People watching the original uncut "Pretty Baby" were somewhat baffled on how and why her mother didn't get arrested..

Lighten up. Brooke herself said even then she knew she was acting and not a real hooker. She liked like it and acting. Judgy much. It was a very powerful film and made you think.

Like the parents telling their sons they are girls and giving them hormones? They should go to jail. It’s happening all over America and these people are not being arrested.

I think that last question Robin asked is a good question, but it’s personal and one that only Brooke knows. Ali should’ve said “I can’t answer that for her. Only she can answer.” Not this whole explanation. Things like this are a personal journey. Stop answering for her.

It will be beneficial to start communicating to kids (and anyone) that you don't have to act or look overly sexual (and in some cases, explicit or vulgar) to be attractive

Brooke is highly intelligent, expressive, and self-aware ....the internal difference where the meanings are...as Emily Dickinson expressed...Being tall helps too which gives a certain stature to one's being....a confidence....She was a focal point and a touch stone for a certain era that has evolved to this day where these events would not be duplicated....Society has improved on this score, thankfully!....Brooke wasn't responsible for how she looked. It was a gift from God that she has used to her great advantage and to ours...She is helping others to become authentic and true to themselves now through her life experiences....I commend her for taking her life full circle to include all of us however we define and apply her life to our own.....Thank you, Brooke!

I knew a lot of Brooke kind of people in my youth. Did not get on with them. So artifical and hunting money and fame. No mention of domestic violence either.

Ali Wentworth you did beautiful job on this documentary with an extraordinary woman we all grew up with.....I am curious as producer why Brookes eyes were so bloodshot and red during all of her interviews--understandable if she teared up, but it was so distracting...bless her heart...seems like the director could have tried to help her with that......Brooke is one in a million and such a well adjusted adult......

That documentary was such a drag! It was boring, negative and a mind f%ck! You can't watch it twice! She was of the time, a huge movie star! The movie doesn't put you in that time, instead it focuses on everything the director thinks was wrong. I wish it would have focused on 70's and 80's New York, working on a movie set and interviews with people who knew her. Brooke was very much the movie star of THAT time. The documentary has RANDOM people talking, it was ridiculous! A BIG MESS! Brooke deserves better than this!

I absolutely agree!!! Especially random Laura Linney saying I hope Brooke survives all this?! Did Laura really think about Brooke at her young age? 😂 also what’s with drew Barrymore being involved?! So random! Does Drew have to be involved with everything! I didn’t like it. Ali Wentworth should stick to her day job of annoying comedy.

Again probably Brooke Shields did not have a say. Stupid journalism takes over.

The fact is that Brooke Shields never did anything remotely as good as Pretty Baby again in her life. This was her one single piece of art that she was involved in and by far her best acting role. Largely because it was created by a director of genius, Louis Malle. The film has so many subtle undercurrents and topics it broaches that could be intelligently discussed but instead everyone fixates on Brooke's body and the little tiny bit of it that is intermittently exposed which is not much more than could be seen at most beaches on any given summer day. I realize that obsession with tween girl bodies is the thing these days even if hidden behind fake shock but seriously, the film is a masterpiece like most of Malle's films and if you aren't grownup enough to see it for what it is then just don't watch it.

Brooke Shields would be a complete ZERO without that film. These are the kinds of films the catapult many actors despite their philosophical bad label.
