Most of the lyrics are in Farsi with a little bit of Urdu.

Fahadm89 this is traditional urdu language which was more inspired by farsi.

It is urdu grammar with alot of farsi words which are not commonly used in Urdu. It is a literally/ formal form of urdu sometimes used among the educated in 19th and 20th century

Urdu it self is a multi dimensional language layered with clusters of many different languages but the lyrics of this song is a whole different dialect mostly comprising of Farsi with Urdu. Farsi comes out far more prominent than Urdu in this song. A Farsi speaking person would be able to understand the lyrics of this piece much with ease than an Urdu speaking person.

It is a herculean (nearly impossible) task given the aesthetic and poetic nature of the language. Add to this the complexity owing to multiple influences of other languages (Sanskrit, Persian, Turkish, Arabic....) In fact almost all the regional languages and dialects are replete with metaphors and similitude which are only appreciated in the very culture they originate from. For instance one simple yet beautiful verse by one of greatest Poets -Momin Khan Momin narrates: Tum mere pas hotay ho goya -(O, my dearest) I can feel you as if you were close-by Jab koi dosra nahin hota - When no one is here except I It is rather deep in meaning. Means, you are even in my solitude. You are so precious and badly missed! Yet, this simple verse from a Ghazal beautifully describes without (usual) mourning the separation or beloved's treachery! Enjoy!
