Future wife?! We're going to have a "how to have a productive bachelor party/wedding" series soon 😁🎉So true that social threats get us all wound up. Viewing things as an experiment takes off a lot of pressure because you're focusing more on the process than the end result. I like that mental board of advisors thinking. Great video, Ali 🙂

I received the notification just after finishing writing my daily morning pages where I made a promise to my self to stop over thinking and start the project I wanted to start a month ago. And because of over thinking I kept procrastinating and telling myself I'm still not good enough and I need more time to work on the project, despite knowing that I only get better when I do a certain thing multiple times, but I was afraid of starting anyhow. Thank you so much for this video, it gave me a huge push and made me realize that I won't gain anything by over thinking. Thanks again ☺️☺️

I think overthinking is such a big problem and a lot of people often don't know they're doing it or have an issue. I find that meditation helps, also writing things down, but also just having awareness and asking yourself 'why do I keep going back to this? And what do I need to do to stop this thought cycling through my head?'

Hi just want to say that many times ruminating is emotionally driven… there can be an uncomfortable feeling and our mind jumps in to try to either make us feel better or dwell on that feeling and feed more into it. So shifting from our mind and into our body sensations can actually be really helpful and grounding and even illuminating. When we ignore our feelings our body often starts shouting at us to get our attention, so just listening to what our body is saying, acknowledging the feelings and fears, can be very clarifying and soothing.

I'm making some changes recently and taking some (what I perceive to be) risks. I've never been happy about overthinking and paralyzing myself out of doing something, it's always made me feel worse. There hasn't been one situation I can think of where I've backed out of something because of fear or overthinking and been like "Man, I'm so much better off!". This was an incredibly helpful video. Thinking in terms of experiments and positive EV kind of blows my mind a bit. I've also recently heard from others how fear of something generally means that's the thing you want to be paying attention to, not running from. Awesome video, thank you.

I believe the MBA technique @11:00 was originally sourced through Napoleon Hill's 1937 book THINK AND GROW RICH. That book was required reading for me back in college, a great read that belongs in every library of all avid readers like yourself, Ali. Sister to that book is Napoleon's other great read THE LAW OF SUCCESS. Orne Publishing, LLC produced in 2010 a beautiful hardback of that book in its original 1925 edition. The newer books of today are really rehashed versions from books of old. Principles never die, but seem to age well with time like wine.
