I've been a fan of this band for 47 years and honestly it was an EXCELLENT band while it existed with the 5 formed members. The singer was the strong side of contact with the public, but the musicians and the producer formed one of the most successful partnerships in rock history. This is a reality that no one can deny and neither Ship Gordon's ambition to end the band and earn easy money with the singer, can overcome.

Joao Carlos --- Shep Gordon never ended the band. There was a HUGE BLOW UP and the Band IMPLODED. The attention had shifted almost entirely towards Alice and the rest of the band started feeling more and more like they were being ignored by the press among other factors. They started feeling very alienated by Alice as well. In the end they were all piled into one limousine while Alice was being driven in another limo by himself. To and from venues as well as airports. The animosity was major and during their "End Times", Glenn Buxton started getting MORE AND MORE WASTED on alcohol and various other drugs in order to "Cope" with the situation. Alice was getting just as wasted but mainly on alcohol. One thing about Alice was that he was able to "Function" no matter HOW BAD HE GOT. After the break up, Alice was depressed and felt very alone. It was at this point that he realized he had no band any more and that's when he sunk EVERYTHING he had into what he considered to be a very ambitious "MAKE OR BREAK" concept project. He even managed to get Shep Gordon to help cover what he was financially lacking. Alice had sunk over ONE MILLION DOLLARS of his OWN MONEY into this concept stage show - production. This make or break project was either going to be a hit, or he was going to LOSE EVERYTHING. That project came to be known as: . . == WELCOME TO MY NIGHTMARE" == . Shep Gordon had NOTHING to do with how things went. All he did was to be a very smart friend and manager to Alice. Shep was a MARKETING GENIUS. But I will leave it right there.

@@rayjingloryproductions3770 Thank God, someone here can tell everyone else what really happened. The band also decided to split for two other reasons. 1st, they thought they had exhausted their creativity together. 2nd, The band wanted to do more musically, Alice wanted to do more with theatrics.

@@bryandonahue5446 It happens with actors as well. The name notoriously coming to mind would be Shelly Long. She left Cheers for various reasons, but the MAIN ONE was that she actually thought she was going to be a majorly big movie star. Oh she did a couple of movies and THAT is what INFLATED her EGO. I saw a couple of those movies. SO SO at best. The best one she was in however, was Nightshift with Henry Winkler, Michael Keaton, and Richard Belzer. Apparently she thought SHE was the one that carried that movie. But WE know better. And that movie in my opinion, was an okay to fairly good. This is just after the release of the Muscle Of Love album. They do sound a bit weary at times but their workload was relentless. Five albums (not including their first two of '69 and '70) and constant touring in less than three years?! The songs are given the 'big production' treatment so if there were support musicians behind the scenes it would make sense. No shame there. I really respect GB and the whole band. The attention had shifted almost entirely towards Alice and the rest of the band started feeling more and more like they were being ignored by the press among other factors. They started feeling very alienated by Alice as well. In the end, they were all piled into one limousine while Alice was being driven in a separate limo by himself. That project came to be known as: . . == "WELCOME TO MY NIGHTMARE" == . @@davidoglesby6771 . . I think that at the time, there was no WAY the band would've Re - Formed, how ever --- Money DOES TALK. At first --- NO. After a couple years of band, minus Alice, failures to succeed, I could see them want to re-form. THAT IS supposing Alice had failed in the "Nightmare" project. YES --- Shep Gordon was the most brilliant manager ever. In the early days of Alice Cooper, the band was getting some outrageously bad press and coverage by PARENTS that HATED Alice and the crew. It was at this point that Shep pulled off one of . . == THEEE MOST GENIUS == . . Marketing strategies EVER. When School's out was recorded and ready, they had a pair of . . == Women's Paper Fabric Panties == . that were Manufactured in CANADA inserted into the album. And THEN --- they had all of the albums sent to Canada to be re - sent BACK to America for re - sale in the stores that were going to carry them. . Everything was going as they should when . . == SUDDENLY == . After a couple of thousand albums of SCHOOL'S OUT hit the shelves, Shep did the most OUTLANDISH THING ever conceived. . Shep called U.S.Customs and then dropped an anoymous tip that this album was coming across to America from Canada. Customs THEN --- CONFISCATED the albums that were coming through. Once the albums were stopped, Shep then went on . PUBLIC RECORD . that Parents and other high ranking officials have deemed . . == The Alice Cooper Band == . . SO VILE AND DISGUSTING . that they had the albums YANKED and . . == BANNED == . from ever letting their dear precious children have a chance at warping their adorable minds and MORALS. And BLAH BLAH BLAH. . And OF COURSE --- THIS FUELED the parent's kids curiosity and HUNGER FOR THIS "AWFUL" piece of parental FILTH. The album --- FLEW --- off the shelves by the kids wanting to see what was the deal and also REBELLING against "Society and Parents" in general. . . And you wonder --- WHERE --- is this story leading. . You see --- at the time THIS happened, we were having a trade embargo with Canada over Lumber and all Paper Products for some reason that I don't remember. And so, ALL products coming across the border were being SEIZED and Forfeit by law due to this embargo. It had NOTHING TO DO with The Alice Cooper Band or ANY OTHER band in general. . It had to do with the fact that a pair of Women's Paties made out of PAPER was being shipped across international lines from Canada into the U.S. . . == A DIRECT VIOLATION OF TRADE LAWS. == . . Nothing more -- and NOTHING LESS. . And Shep Gordon CAPITALIZED on this. Since the Public had NO IDEA about this fact, Shep was able to say . . == ANYTHING HE WANTED. == . And he DID. Yeah that song is interesting for Alice. It's opening sounds like the start of Joe Cocker's Beatle cover "with a little help from my friends" then turns into a Pink Floyd sound until it becomes a mix of Alice Cooper and the Moody Blues. Certainly an experimental song for Alice Cooper who is known to experiment with all music genre's, but this time he does it all in one song. Alice Coopers music was always more intellectual than he was given credit for since his horror show style kind of over powered the great and often ground breaking music at times. I think he was probably a few sheets to the wind in this concert as I think he also goofed announcing "Muscle of love" early when the band goes into "Big Apple Dreamin".

Richard Federico Alice and the rest of the band went their separate ways circa 1974/75, and Michael Bruce who contributed to most songs on “Muscle of love” stopped writing for AC. From that moment on, it seems to me that Alice Cooper became more about the stage act and less about the music 🤷🏼‍♀️

This band is very tight. Playing like this a lot makes you tight. I can kinda tell that the mix is pretty dang good. The snare sounds like Neal Smith.

Polished Alice trying to sing like Sinatra; their dangerous image compromised by silly sailor suits. Muscle of Love really was the end for a tired band which lost its way. Great audience recording though. Thanks for sharing!

Michael Bruce, Mick Mashbir and perhaps Reggie Vinson. Buxton was doing his best but not at his best. Bruce was no slug on the guitar, personally I liked his phrasing better than Buxton's. Of course some of the parts they played on this tour were first laid down by Steve Deacon Hunter and Dick Wagner in the studio.

Sadly, Buxton was so fucked up on this tour , they would often turn down his guitar and have a sideman playing his parts without his knowledge.

It's true you idiot. Steve Hunter was the guy who filled in for Buxton on many many nights. GB was a mess by this time. He could hardly play his guitar at this point. BTW most of the lead parts on the BDB's album were performed by Hunter.
