That said he was a sponge that took a little from everyone he's come in contact with. Derrick was opening up for BB King at 12 and didn't play with Clapton till he was 27. HE loved Duane Allman much like Clapton did. It only made sense they would eventually collab. Derrick playing Duanes part on tour with clapton is epic. I disagree. Of course, as a guitarist, he doesn't come close to the relevance of most musicians on this stage, especially the honored one. But Jeff Beck and Johnny Depp were friends, so his presence at this tribute is more than important. And as a movie star and actor there's no debating his relevance. Well...
@jimdep6542 Жыл бұрын
@@EvanJr They were friends. I get it, but that doesn't mean they belong on stage with you. Beck wasn't just some guitar player from a punk band....he was a top notch player who played with musicians of the same caliber. Depp doesn't belong there. I wasn't happy that Beck allowed that guy in his band before he died. The only reason JD was there is because he's a rich and famous MOVIE STAR......not because of his musical talent. He's also a domestic violence woman beater, but I'll leave it at that. I have fond memories of Beck playing with great players, like Jan Hammer, etc etc.......and why he let a punk like JD on stage with him doesn't make sense to me. So after Beck dies, they pile a bunch of legendary players on a stage together including JD. No thanks. That ruins it right there. My son played rock ‘n’ roll in Hollywood for many years, and about four years ago, I attended a reunion that featured him and was held at the Viper Room! I called Uber for transportation to the Viper Room from Burbank on that night, and a Tesla pulled up in response to my request. The driver gave his permission for me to sit up front with him, and we had so much fun experimenting with the Tesla that he forgot to pick up his other fares. The whole night was wonderful!!! I am a fan!

Despite the immeasurable loss of our legendary Jeff Beck, this was an event I never dreamed of seeing. Great tribute from great artists. Rock n' Roll proving once again that rivalries and backbiting have no place on stage ❤

Johnny was his best friend and an amazing musician Jeff Beck would want him right where he is and you shouldn't judge what you do not understand Johny is exactly where he belongs♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️

Depp is in NO WAY an “amazing musician” ask absolutely anyone that actually plays. He was Jeff Beck’s friend (can’t hurt to have an internationally famous superstar on your tour) but he really should have had the humility to stay at the back instead of posing front and centre with so many greats around. He’s a totally average player and he must know it. You can’t really hear anything that he played, why do you think that is? it’s because his volume is turned down.

He has said it himself! But in all fairness to the fella he is just enough qualified to be up there too.

At least they had the good sense to turn him way down in the PA mix. He didn't bring much other than another Keith Richards impersonation.

@@cryptic-kian8 Jealous of what? He's not that good of a guitar player compared to who he's on stage with and thats a fact. He's also a terrible singer in my opinion. I like his movies, but I think he's a entitled musical poser. Listen to him all you want though.
@cryptic-kian8Ай бұрын
@@georgekruft3618 I mean in the fact your subconsciously jealous of what he’s got and that he’s liked and respected enough to be up their, I mean I am. But instead of snivelling about it and being mean for the hell of it, I’m proud of the fella, and everything you’ve got against him is small person blues, all the talent he’s played with have praised his guitar talent and the music he creates. Opinions like that is what degrades the rock fanbase.
