Good point. I think she has adopted the habit being self deprecating. She appears to me to have talent to burn. It seems reasonable to assume that at least half the musical genius in the gene pool belongs to women.

Manuel Barrueco has trained a female guitarist as his heir apparent and this practice is becoming more common. Maybe we have to seek justice consciously or injustice continues to dominate us unconsciously. For some, equality remains the scariest word in the English language. Three hundred ears ago Nita Strauss would have been considered a witch.. As we are relegating gender discrimination to the past, economic inequality is shaping up to be the next civil rights struggle. .

A random rant here, but in my travels through some psychology books and articles, I've come across many mentions that women naturally have certain tendencies to "deprecate" themselves as you mentioned. It's probably the natural order of women dying while giving birth while meanwhile men are punching everything around in the face... It's hard to find decent female metal musicians except vocals, this thing is still very dominated by men...

Women rocking out, not to mention playing wailing guitar solos, are super cool. Thanks to Joan Jett, Lita Ford and Girl School, among others, for kicking down the damn door. Nita is very cool and I'm hoping she records a solo album SOON. Oh and I recall buying Alice Cooper's Love it to Death long before it blew up with the single 18. Thank God he's still rocking on.
