"Ballad of Dwight Fry" is a masterpiece in music and stage shows. I'm going to see Alice in PDX on the 19th. It will be my 17th time attending his shows. Also I want to remind you to avoid any of the songs on his "From the inside" album. You really need to do the whole album as each song tells a chapter about when Alice actually spent time in a mental institution! He had a long time to conceive write and plan the album and it shows. I promise you you will feel like laughing and/or crying many times listening to it. Some of his best rockers and ballads are on this album.

The Alice Cooper band was remarkable. So glad to see you enjoying it! There are too many songs to pick from, but Billion Dollar Babies is fantastic. Also from Alice after the band broke up is Gimme. It's a total hard rock/metal tune! From Alice (the man and the band) you may get everything from Big Band, to Hard Rock, Metal, Classic, Garage, Punk - the list goes on and on.

I saw Alice at the Fillmore East in 1971.. they were the 2nd act and they blew the headliner off the stage.. It was the Love It To Death tour.. I ended up seeing them a lot over the next years.. until he went solo.I loved the original band. Dennis bass lines and Prairie’s drumming … great. This was from the very next album, Killer.. that was a great tour too.

I just saw Alice in concert for nearly the 70th time this weekend. Alice Cooper is 10X better than he was in the early years since he has gone solo and sobered up. His stage presence is unmatched. This 74 year-old performer runs circles around acts half his age. His current band is one of the best bands out there. Nobody can touch them. You guys should really catch Alice in concert while you still can. It's an amazing rock show/theatrical experience.

Alice Cooper is so endearing, even to this day. My favorite album of his was called, love it to death. Any song from that album is amazing. Some of them rock hard and others are more abstract and borderline psychedelic. Long way to go is my favorite rocker by him. It was featured in the movie The World According to GARP when the father kept turning it over to jazz andthe babysitter kept turning it back to Alice Cooper, laugh. There is his earlier song, school's out for summer, which is so iconic. We used to sing that at the top of our lungs on the playground.

He was the first big concert I ever went to, "Be With You a While" is me and my wife's song (you should really check out his ballads, "Only My Heart Talkin", "Hell is Living Without You", "It's Me" and "I am Made of You"), and we got married in Vegas by an Alice Cooper impersonator. Alice Cooper embodies the capitalistic ideal, and demonstrates what one can achieve applying the principles of hard work and tenacity. You don't have to be naturally good at something. You can work hard and get good at it. Find your niche in the market, service your customer, and they'll still be talking about you fifty years later. That's brand loyalty and its well deserved. He was a great showman.

Oh hell yeah!!!! Alice Cooper especially early Cooper is my shit!!!!! the man was......I don't even know how to describe him. Him and Zappa are two of my most favorite performers. Alice's stage show is incredibly amazing. Not alot of performers will hang themselves and have themselves beheaded all in one show LOL. The guillotine he uses is real!!!! It stops about an inch from his neck and the platform he's laying on drops and a mannequin head drops into the basket. The noose is also real!!! behind the rope is a strand of piano wire that's about a 1/2 inch shorter than the rope that just allows the rope to tighten to make it look real. The piano wire snapped on him once in rehearsal!!!!!! He says he felt the snap and instinctively looked up so the rope would slip over his chin. Burned the shit out of his chin tho. Can you imagine that happening to you???? F that!!!!! LOL This might sound different because in the late 80's-early nineties he got a little heavier and metalish. This was 71 on his 4th album. Alice Cooper has recorded some WEIRD songs in his career... I recall listening to the song "You gotta dance" ... & I couldn't believe he'd gone disco 🤣

1971. next year, Bowie's Suffragette City borrowed the groove and chord progression at the end of this song, down to the chromatic passing tones, live sometimes Alice quotes Bowie's song during this one. both geniuses though. the whole album Killer, is frankly, killer. not a bad track on it.

I'm hearing The Beatles influence in this, a bit of Twist and Shout? It sounds like a Hard Rock version of a 50's/60's song. It has that sound but Alice Cooper would've been called a Satan back then. Being a child of the 80's, Poison is by far my favourite Alice Cooper song

Alice Cooper did a remake of this with Axl Rose as a guest vocalist for The Decline of Western Civilization II, a music documentary. It's worth a listen.

The whole album(Killer) is great, one of his best, "Halo of Flies" even has some prog elements to it. But if you want to see an amazing live performance, I recommend "I'm Eighteen", but only if you watch it with the video!

I'm 18, Elected, Department of Youth and the Black Widow (with special intro by the late Vincent Price... long before Micheal Jackson ever did Thriller Alice was singing about things that go bump in the night and shocking everybody when societies sensitivities were much more family oriented!

I've enjoyed Alice's stage solo, and his ballads are nice enough (you should watch him doing "You and Me" on The Muppet Show), but for me, I prefer when "Alice Cooper" was the name of the Band ("Alice" was legally Vince Furnier, although he encouraged the confusion about the name from the start) and not everything about the band was just shock value. I mean, I enjoy "Raped and Freezing", but I like more diversity. Therefore: "Caught in a Dream" "Is it My Body?" "Elected" "Big Apple Dreaming" and yes, of course, "The Ballad of Dwight Fry" and "I'm Eighteen". Enjoy.

You should go see Alice Cooper live. He chops his own head off. That's just a bit of his live show. It's a great live experience. He's one of the true showman of rock & metal. Also check out some King Diamond & Mercyful Fate. King Diamond is also a great live experience.

David Otto 0 seconds ago My favorite Alice song. Ballad of Dwight Fry, Vengeance is Mine and Somewhere in the Jungle are worth checking out. Alice Cooper band and Pink Floyd are good friends. While doing shows in the early 70s in LA, both bands stayed at the same place and became good mates.
