This is a DARK song. Layne was dark - Duvall should be fronting a glam band. He has a great voice - but it doesn't fit the tunes.....

I agree with you, but how does it change the fact that Will sang incredibly well on this one? I certainly prefer Layne over Will, but I also liked this version very much :)

Great cover. That's all IMHO. It does't have the same emotion like it does just listening to the both of them back to back. The Mtv unplugged version of Rooster was unreal. How Layne has that growl in his voice and his damn vocal range put him in the top 10 even maybe top 5 greatest front men of all time.

mountaingoat1003 the post Layne stuff turned out surprisingly well because Jerry has always been the genius behind AiC, he’s the one who wrote the large majority of the music and half the lyrics when Layne was alive. Layne was amazing one of the best singers ever but he gets too much credit for AiC from a lot of fans, Jerry was and is the mastermind. Jerry is an all time great songwriter and even when Layne was alive wrote a bunch of lyrics to some of their most famous songs

This song is proof that Alice in Chains was always bigger than just Layne or Jerry or any individual member of the band. Can't wait to see these guys July 22nd. Grateful to see Duvall carrying on the legacy. Favorite band of all time. Got me through 6 years of some heavy heroin addiction

Thank you William Duval. Thanks to you, I was able to see Alice in Chains in Brazil when I believed that this would never be possible.

Ya know it's not the fact that we hate this lead singer Matter of fact he gets an A for effort. We just want the old Alice in chains back!!!!! Its like eating a taco on wheat bread You can call it a taco.......but its not a taco without the shell

I think he really nailed this song, eventhough he is not Layne. He really brings Laynes spirit among us everyday!

Couldn’t have picked a better replacement for Layne. We all love Layne tremendously. I feel like William protects the integrity of Layne’s work. He does an amazing job.

I’m on my Alice In Chains splurge, and finally listened to the 2 newest albums, he’s certainly no Layne, but for what it’s worth, he keeps the band going, and doing a kick ass job! Might have to catch them on tour!

I miss Layne too, but it's been 19 years since he passed away, and William is a great addition. No, he is never gonna be Layne. Jerry knows it, everybody knows it. Move the fuck on. Will is great.
