+Nathan Snyder I'm not a huge Snyder fan, but he creates entertainment through visuals and interesting camera shots. He's not trying to write good stories, and it works because he knows his stories are shit. Movies like this seem like they don't know the story is shit, and thats a major problem in cinema

Alice in wonderland is hard to make a live adaptation movie that follows the source material. Because think what are the biggest movies of all time Star wars, Lord of the rings, Chronicles of Narnia, Matrix. What do they all have in common? A character that has to face uncertainties and overcome them while being known as a chosen one to save a civilization or world. Idk how an audience would respond to a girl just having a fun adventure with crazy characters. Cause many people who go to the movies expect big things to occur in a movie with alot of depth so i dont know how a general audience would care for Alice in wonderland. Thats why so many movies fail to please people like Batman v superman Iron man 2 Maleficent because instead of giving us a deep meaningful story its just characters going moving around from plot point to plot point with no real epic battles to face. I love Alice in wonderland (animated movie and books) but i dont know how an audience would respond to just a fun road trip movie especially since in the past even road trip adventure type movies havent done well financially

If they do another Alice in Wonderland reboot in a few years (I'm positive I'll see at least two in my lifetime alone), I want the next incarnation to be based on the American McGee game series. It was one of the most adult but beautifully crafted re-inventions of the classic lore that I've seen. It gave depth to Alice Liddell among other core characters like never before and made me genuinely care about them in a way I hadn't since the 1951 Disney film. Granted, I still like 2010's Alice and Mia Wasikowska. Sadly, I never remotely cared about her in the role. She was a bland, emotionally awkward discount-heroine whose sole purpose was to fill the shoes and drive the plot (though not as dull as Kristen Stewart in Snow White). The same could be said of Anne Hathaway. Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter carried the film, which even then is unfortunately not saying a lot. Overall, I think Tim Burton's Alice will be remembered mostly for its CGI. McGee's Alice is deeper and more interesting regarding her psychologically, which is partially what made the classics so timeless. If done right, it could be the next great game-based film, especially if they made it a trilogy to fill every praised detail.

FYI Chris, Sideshow doesn't make Hot Toys, they're just a US distributor of them. Hot Toys is it's own company based in Hong Kong.

Hot Toys are not made by Sideshow they are just a supplier, Hot Toys are made in Hong Kong by Hot Toys. In the USA Sideshow are a very good supplier and you get reward points etc. Big Bad Toy Store is also very good. There are some great Hot Toys (Other Onesixth scale figures) groups on Facebook, One Sixth Republic and One Sixth Anonymous. I will also say our channel reviews them including the new Civil War Captain America which isnt out yet in the USA. Have a look if you wish I just though I would let you know where you can get the stuff or information on where to source them :-) Nice review Chris.

Dear Chris Stuckmann, I've been wondering why so many movie reviewers (especially from the USA) are focused solely on American films. This is in no way a criticism of your work but I do believe that the world of movies is so much broader than the confines of Hollywood. They can broaden our horizons, give us new experiences and teach us or perhaps even enlighten us. It would be great for everybody if there were some shows that would also give limelight to non-USA movies.

Chris, I think you might be better off writing down a list of where you get all that stuff in your background and making it accessible in your descriptions to anyone who wants to know where you can get them without having to repeat many sources in your videos.

I am surprised that I am one of the only people here that really enjoyed both movies. I think the visuals and storytelling are incredible. Yes, it is almost 100% CGI, but it isnt about reality, it is about wonder and fantasy that cant be realistically visualized. I think it does a perfect job of storytelling and animation is great. I am usually critical of movies too. I dont understand why everyone hates it. I guess it just depends on what you expect. And yes, I would have liked to know what made the mad hatter mad and the red queen get a big head. I would give it 8.3/10. Dialogue wasnt perfect not was the acting perfect but it fit all of their characters enough to tell the story properly and comedically (whether or not it was intend). The way the white queen flutters about seems dumb and bad acting but I find it pretty funny how she she goes with it and it is like even she knows that it is obnoxious. I'm not one to just like a movie, heck I am a star wars TROS hater.

I agree, people overdramatized this being a bad movie. It wasn't that bad at all. I enjoyed it. It's not my favorite, but that's just because I like a more serious genre type or cartoons and rarely somewhere in the middle. I really don't like inconsistencies to story plots, holes in them, things that have no logic in a world of logic or things that have logic in a world of no logic (I like consistency). This movie has those consistency patterns (it's crazy when it needs to be, but makes sense when it needs to). I also like a good story plot. This movie has different plots, but none of them are bad stories and I was able to follow them. Finally, I enjoy characters and the building up of characters. These movies had that. I think this movie is very underrated, even though it's not a top favorite of mine, but again, I feel my bias is based on my favorite genre types.

I don't think audiences, as they're watching the movie are saying "Hey that CGI or green screen or visual effect does not work for me", it's all about the story and this movie no. 1 problem was the story.

I like how you're never abusive no matter how much you hate a movie. You were really gracious in your critique of Looking Glass. I liked it. It was visually arresting. I loved how Ann Hathaway played the good queen with these floaty mannerisms and made the character into sort of a harmless poseur. It wasn't a bad way to go through a tub of popcorn :-)

NOT defending the movie, I haven't even seen it yet, but I said that it looks like everything was shot using a green screen but to be fair that's how the first one looked too correct? So they probably just wanted to keep the same aesthetic as the first movie. I am not involved with this movie nor do I have any extensive training when it comes to the industry whatsoever but that's just my best assumption about why this movie supposively looks like it was all shot on a green screen. Agree???

Yes, the other movie was done the same way but that doesn't mean that they will visually be the same. Both are bad but at least the first one felt like the humans were actually interacting with the world around them. The difference is because Tim Burton is better at directing such movies.

Tim burton directed the visually impressive original Batman. That was a SOLID film. With GOOD visuals especially for its time. Someone with that experience can make something good with a green screen.

I liked the movie a little, but I am questioning some things that happened in it. In the books and this movie, The Hatter and his friends Malice, Cheshire, and the brown hare are trapped one minute before tea time until Alice returns (obviously in the first movie.) But in ATTLG, The Hatter is seen on the day the Jabberwocky attacks which is after he got trapped in time, and in the first movie Cheshire greats Alice in the forest when he's supposed to be trapped with the Hatter. Also, Alice should of been taken back to the mental institute after returning back.
