My sister worked as a postvis animator on this movie and has some pretty funny inside stories. Apparently they had to call Johnny Depp back to rerecord many of his scenes, but at that point he was already working on the Pirates of the Caribbean movie and had the dental implants for Jack Sparrow's teeth. Since he couldn't just yank them out to record for this film, they had to animate them. In, like a third of this film, Johnny Depp's teeth are CGI

Great video, but I would revoke the sin for testing the syringe. That's not to see if it's working, it's to make sure that there is no air in the syringe, because if you inject air into someone, you'll kill them. However, it is true that real doctors don't have evil music playing in the background for dramatic effect, so the sin still stands.
@chrisperrien70555 жыл бұрын
Not really , takes a lot of air to kill someone. Several ounces and it might possibly cause an embolism in the lungs. Little bubbles or even several cc's won't do it . The air gets mixed in blood vessels and the heart doesn't worry about it, air is not a problem to the heart like blood clots are. If you are ever in the hospital and you see/have an IV pumping in half air and half "stuff", or big long sections of air don't worry. Happened to me , was scared of all the air going in my arm , kinked the hose(doesn't really work) , finally disconnected the thing and waited for a nurse, heard the whole story.

ALL THE SINS THAT WERE WHOLE-SALED: • Cool pan up over the giant clock shot. But I'll remind you this is a level-within-a-level... of what was already probably a drug-overdose-induced dream state. Let's not make like physics is all that important, okay?" • It's the time-guy's castle, so of course it has to literally be a giant clock." • Yep, she's still wearing that terrible dress. • Why did the gate open for her? Is it automated? Is there no security here? Does it open for everyone?! Yeah, you don't care, you just want to get to the scene where she talks to the time god, and I can't blame you, even while I myself get stuck on the mundane questions of the event. • Dialogue like this. • I'm going to guess this giant frog washing dishes back here signifies that this is Wonderland, because human-sized frogs don't exist in regular human land. Which makes me wonder how much power this Borat time-lord has if he only has power over the Wonderland real. And also -- HOLY S*IT is that a portrait of a Gungan?!!? • Nearly-two-hour movie has time for the magical dressing of the Time character, who definitely hasn't already been self-indulgent whatsoever. • Movie basically admits to the stupidity of personifying time, while time maintains the same properties that it does in the real world. Couldn't he just be the keeper of time or something? • Irony. • But, like, why? Nothing actually happened to make him ill. There was no curse or spell, no physical ailment. He basically threw a temper tantrum and changed his physical appearance. • That's not mortal danger, that's going goth. • "Discount Wonderland Big Ben." • Somehow, this is the motherclock, despite the the entire castle being a giant clock that kills most folks that approach this castle. • So the clock and the clock-dude with a clock in his chest are one. Got it. Weird and arbitrary, but... got it. • And yet, mere seconds ago you were manipulating time with your chest clock to speed up her speech. • The evil Queen of Hearts is such a frequent guest here at the Time Castle that she has her own heart-shaped entrance! And wasn't she banished in the last movie?!? • OF COURSE the time guy Alice needs help from is in love with the antagonist from the last movie. Because of course he is. Of course. • I'm sure you're right, but that is also a HUGE leap in logic right there. • Oh look, Queen of Hearts wants the Chronosphere too, and right at the exact same time Alice is here for it! What are the odds?! -- No, wait, don't calculate the odds... I'll be too depressed to hear them out loud. • Do you think he meant for that to rhyme, or is this just a shitty Time Burton production he's somehow too good to direct? • Alice went from this to this during that cut to the Time Guy and Queen of Hearts. She defeated an entire Indiana Jones worthy trick maze of many pendulums and it all happened OFF SCREEN! • The "seconds" in Tick Tock land rip off the Transformers AND the Minions all in one fell swoop. • Alice accidentallies herself into the solution with surprising ease. HOLY FUCK. I did not expect that many sins when I first started doing this. Figured I might as well be useful if I'm gonna be this early, but fuck me and fuck you CinemaSins!

Jaiden well actually it's very bad practice to do this for hundreds of reasons. Why would they name this "Through the Looking-Glass"? Like, I'm an Alice fan and I can enjoy derivative works but don't name a completely original story after one of the actual books. It's dumb. It's also irksome when folks seem to not realize the Red Queen and the Queen of Hearts are two different people from two completely different stories. Now the movie didn't specifically do that but the Red Queen is suspiciously absent among a sister thing between the White Queen and the Queen of Hearts so, yeah, I'm irked.

Through the Looking Glass is another adventure of Alice that is unrelated to her first adventure, not really a sequel story, just another adventure of the same girl.

Seriously people, if you want a Tim Burton style Alice in Wonderland, just watch a Lets Play of American McGee's Alice and its sequel Madness Returns. It pulls off the worldbuilding far better and with far less idiocy. It has nonsense, but it's not stupid, Sin-ish nonsense... For the most part. Honestly, the actual Tim Burton Alice could be described as 'the wrong Alice'.

I know this theater actor/bum/drug addict who tried to kill himself by injecting a big ass syringe full of air. It didn't kill him but he said it fucked something up permanently, I don't remember what exactly.
@kaitlyn__L8 жыл бұрын
dear cinemasins: you do actually need to squirt some liquid out of the syringe to be sure you've gotten all the air bubbles out (hence tapping it first: make the air rise to the top) but the real problem is how MUCH they squirt, because in real life they stop after the first drop or two while those drops are still surface-tension-ing to the syringe.

The syringe was upside down. Making your point moot.
@rikwisselink-bijker8 жыл бұрын
Well, actually how bad air bubbles are is overestimated. I heard once that during WWII some test were done, so now we know that you can inject massive amounts of air (like, up to 40 mL) without really bad effects. The most important thing is if you are using the syringe to measure how much medicine you are giving. Then you need to make sure you get rid of the air.
@kaitlyn__L8 жыл бұрын
Rik Wisselink yes, depending on where you inject it, you would need up to that much to induce heart failure. but even if you would survive less, you really don't want to have any if you can help it. it's not a pleasant feeling. source to all this: having a weekly injection medication
@rikwisselink-bijker8 жыл бұрын
Oh, I'dd believe anyone who says it is unpleasant. It should be avoided. But dangerous, it is not. But I think we agree. (and since we are citing our sources: mine was the MD that taught me how to give injections during my study)

"Alice Through the Looking Glass" was a pretty forgettable film. It's "Grown-Up Alice Through the Made-Up Time Traveling Journey," and the rest of the story is just too dull that they decided to make it cleaner and too much bright since the last one is very dark and very violent. Instead they just repeated the same film which is the same Grown-Up Alice returns and her motivation is pretty weak. Johnny Depp's Mad Hatter is pretty pathetic and he looks like he waste his talents for doing the same dummies in each Disney. The rest of the movie is a complete rip off from "Pirates of the Caribbean" with a unnecessary premise that it's too long and boring, like come on it's Disney's Alice in Wonderland, you're not making a "Lawrence of Arabia." Overall, its pretty dull and I prefer a reboot these movies because they were so forgettable. And that catchy Pink's song is pretty catchy before it begins the movie.

Also, the Hatter seems like a completely different character from the first film. He was a brave (ish) likeable (for me) character who was troubled by his past and was very pissed about it. In this movie he is just an sjw who failed to reach his safe space and almost died from being triggered. The red queen is just a fucking child in this movie, always complaining and yelling. The movie fails at showing, and tells every time it could've shown. And not to mention that Alice is the villain. She jeopardises Underland and almost kills Time. The entire film, Time is just doing his job: retrieve the special snow globe space ship and put time back in place and keep Underland safe. And Anne Hathaway is also a villain

Can we all agree to please stop making Alice movies? We had the one, which I was pretty sure did it well enough. But, then there was the -cash grabby- remake many years later with the "Its so srs" attitude, and I'm fairly sure neither that one or this one has offered anything of substance to the story. Can we stop making 'Srs Dark Fantsy' remakes of movies in general? They're all terrible, and only entertaining to small children with no interest in relatable stories. Consequences be damned!

or better yet, stop remake movie out of fairy tales and turn it into dark and groomy movie.

But what if Mickey Mouse was... Oh, they already did that one. H-how about, what if literally ever single super hero that ever existed was.. Wait, sorry, they've making those for years. ...O-okay, okay... So, what if... What if various holidays- oh for fuck's sake. Coming next June: What if Spongebob Squarepants and the Telly Tubbies were angsty teenagers in a film that was entirely brown, where the story has been subjugated by the almighty deus ex machina?! Have Tim Burton collaborate with Michael Bay! It's oh-so-quirky, with enough fake explosions to feed an entire third-world country(1). (1) Will not actually feed a third-world country. That budget is strictly for adding explosions to every character on screen's eyes, so they explode every time they blink.

We need to agree to stop watching movies written by "Linda Woolverton" because she can't write a Hallmark card without shoving her political bullshit down people's throats. This is why we keep ending up with cinematic abortions like Alice in Wonderland and Maleficent.

Noremaad That disgusting animated movie did nothing. it was awful the new version was entertaining, riveting, and made for the age of people who went to see it. It payed omage to the original but did it's own thing enough to be extremely well done. those scenes, costumes, and creature adaptations were so incredible. Yes Mirana does strange things with her hands but at least it wasn't like that dumb animated one where the hatter, who was supposed to be an adult, was the same height as a child.

+Caleigh Knight I guess you missed the part where it was originally adapted as an *animated* children's story? The vast majority of the recent remakes destroy the story, and by extension the overall message, in lieu of super-cool action scenes and putting characters into situations that are completely removed from any tangible reality, which also cannot be escaped from. But, that's okay, because why have them solve their own problems, when you can pull the magical mcguffin literally out of thin air that instantly fixes everything with no consequences? You're entitled to your own opinion, sure - I'm not going to tell you that you can't enjoy a movie. But, cinema (all forms of media, really) exists to tell stories. To convey emotions, to teach lessons, and to deepen one's understanding of humanity. There's nothing inherently *wrong* with big dumb action movies, but you generally go in understanding that those movies exist in a totally unbelievable universe, with totally unbelievable characters. Recreating stories intended to teach children and young adults lessons isn't inherently wrong, either. However, when you remove the intent of what you're recreating - turn it into something that offers nothing of substance to do what's currently popular? That's just... Greedy, and shallow, no matter what you're 'paying homage' to. It's no different than if someone remade Hotel California into a Hip Hop song, or turned Super Mario into an all-brown first-person shooter.

There should be a hundred more sins just because the mad hatter changed his accent from the first movie.

10:35 I find this scene kinda funny because I have a medical condition that would have been known as "female hysteria" back when this movie was set.
