As a trans girl only on 4 months HRT I am horrified at the healing process of SRS. Recognizing my own bottom dysphoria, it's truly sad how much time money and pain it will cost, and the end result isn't guaranteed to be as functional as pre-op. My insurance covers it after 12 months HRT, and that makes me feel like I'm at the bottom of mount everest staring upwards.
@DDILKIES4 ай бұрын
You don't have to do any of that until you're comfortable. If it's something you need, then make sure you can get everything planned out in advance. It might be best to focus on things you are comfortable with doing at this current stage of your transition. All of it is daunting, but if you take things a few small steps at a time, you'll be at the top of Everest before you realize!

I pretty much expected it based on all my research, despite my surgeon trying to say otherwise and talk himself up. The only snag is that now I’ve been told that insurances have been denying revisions, which has me a bit anxious. Revision or not, this surgery has been totally worth it - not only is my bottom dysphoria gone, but other dysphorias have lessened or gone too because my confidence has shot up.

18 months post-op here. I was really lucky in that recovery was a breeze for me (other than the nerves reconnecting - like little electric shocks; super painful, but only for milliseconds at a time 😱). Super happy with the results, both aesthetically and functionaly. Cost a chunk of cash though, as I went private - looking at you, GIC waiting list 😡 (over 5 yrs and not even a 1st appt yet). My top tips are to get a toilet seat for the journey home (and for a few weeks after) - it's way more comfortable than a doughnut pillow. Also, size up your dilator as soon as you feel up to it (I went to green at about 3 months, and orange at about 6 months, but ymmv)

As someone who somehow tore the gas mask off before the anesthetist could put me under for a general anaesthetic during my childhood in an emergency surgery- any medical procedure and information regarding it is something I do everything I can to take seriously Admittedly I am somewhat unhinged by effectively using Outlast, Half-Life and SOMA as an introductory education for the healthcare industrial complex but it has disturbingly worked well so far I seriously appreciate these videos with the other quality insanity you create- thanks from limbo/Australia

Wait did this occur during late 2023 or this year? My experience with my local healthcare system (Australian Medicare system and the private practices) only improved to them recognising something was seriously wrong after I threatened to and eventually whistleblew several social "youth" services and clinical practices and from what I could see- the staff were basically just forced to stop repeatedly overusing mental health history to explain chronic health issues at risk of PR damage Personally I don't regret the implications- I clearly was far from the first person to figure out what was going on and the last person anyone should want to antagonise is someone who just doesn't ever give up and hasn't got much to lose

Speaking as a cis woman, those times sound pretty normal to me. Getting bored trying to get there and then completely distracted thinking about your garden or the bill you need to pay tomorrow is also part of the cis woman experience, so let us know if you get those too? How much of your experience tracks with cis womanhood, and how much is substantially different, is inevitably fascinating. My personal sample size of cis women is a lot smaller than my sample size of cis men, so I don't know how much of "cis women take a lot longer to get there than cis men" is reality and how much is the statistical consequence of some cis men being jerks, but it feels authentic. Female bodies just aren't built to hurry the same way - sometimes we'll get there fast, but usually not, and some days we won't get there at all.
