WayV is such an interesting group. I wonder how that “switch languages three times in one sentence” works when they’re with the rest of NCT, or if they completely code switch because everyone else is speaking solely Korean. Or does most of NCT know the bare bones of enough languages to get the gist of what anyone is saying (if that makes sense)? So many odd questions I would have for an NCT member lol

I feel like at this point, all of NCT has various knowledge on multiple languages but probably just random words and phrases they've picked up from each other trying to communicate with the foreign members. Like in the very early times of NCT 127, you see the 127 members sometimes speak Korean, but stick in random Chinese words to talk with WinWin. Its honestly fascinating to watch NCT members talk to each other, especially in their earlier years. They know so many languages but struggle in all of them xD

It's so fascinating to watch WayV (actually all of NCT) talk to each other sometimes. They just freely talk and switch languages mindlessly that no one questions it. They're just so used to it at this point. But I get it, it's a multilingual thing. And like your brain kind of has like set "modes" depending on where you are/who you're with. Like for me, when I'm with my grandparents or non english speaking relatives, my default is mandarin or the dialect I speak, but when I'm with my sisters, at work, or with friends, it's English. But when I'm with my parents, it's a free for all, every language comes out and 3 languages in a sentence is a thing that happens. One thing I did notice is, if you try to forcibly "switch" languages, its really really hard. It's like "hang on! I need to rewire my brain settings and reload." Which is probably why members like YangYang and Ten's mind just goes haywire when people ask them to speak in a certain language but when they're not told, it just flows out. Sorry for the long post, the way NCT talks is just relatable and fascinating. And it's literally what brought me in to the group.

For the one with YangYang saying he took Spanish because it’s easier than French I do agree :) as a French my language is hard to learn for English speakers, but I learned Spanish and it’s not that easy

@@rosie_e-o8b I speak Spanish, English and French (all of em not my native languages). English is in my opinion by far the easiest. Personally, I prefer French though I assume Spanish is grammar wise a bit easier. There are many similarities though so the difference of difficulty not too big :)

@@basho4306 I agree. I feel like French is easier to learn when you already know English because a lot of vocab is similar. Also conjugating in French is a whole lot easier than in Spanish and Italian.

He's not a English speaker though. Not a native speaker at least. As a brazilian though, although our languages are pretty similar, French is really hard lol, waaaaay harder than Spanish

As I speak several languages (of course both Spanish and French too) I feel like Spanish is a bit easier to learn than French. Both languages are quite similar though and generally not too hard to learn so if one has to choose between those two, you should study the one you're honestly interested in

Yangyang and Ten are the idols I can relate the most to. Like I speak Indonesian and a local language called Javanese, I also speak English and Turkish kinda well I guess (I read and write way better than I speak). And I'm an intermediate Mandarin learner (HSK 4 level). I always code-switch and it's come to a point where it's very hard for me to speak only one language at one time. I just need to borrow words and phrases from here and there sometimes my personality also changes depending on which language I use. That part where Yangyang and Starbucks cashier looked at each other due to Yangyang not understanding something............ I experienced it tons before lol. Honestly the kind of videos that made me stan NCT is the compilation of their language struggle because I've been through them too lol. Ten is my language goals. I started learning Mandarin earlier than him and he speaks so much better than me now (granted he's surrounded by Mandarin speakers and speaking has always been my weakest area). Considering how busy he is, it always baffles me how he learns something so quick, let alone Mandarin, a language I find the hardest to learn. I'd love to have his talents and determination. That's why he's my top bias in NCT. I'm also intrigued, how many languages do you know? You seem to be very interested in languages and that's cool, because I am too!

you know so many interesting languages, that's very cool!! ten is also like my language goals haha! I'm very impressed by him and would also love that sort of motivation. I really don't know how he does it either, especially with his schedules plus his art. as for me, I speak english and russian, understand spanish pretty well (used to speak it well but ever since I started learning korean it's hard for me to think in spanish lol), I would say I'm intermediate in korean as it's been my main focus the past few years, and I recently took chinese and hebrew and am currently focusing on continuing with chinese! I know exactly what you mean about not being able to use just one language at a time. each language has its own ways of expressing certain things and the nuance of what you're trying to say is sometimes just more accurate in another language so you want to switch xD
@calieda
@calieda 4 жыл бұрын
@@AliceOnTheInternet Yess, that's exactly what I mean. I guess it depends on the context, and also on the circumstances we learned those languages in lol. Wow Hebrew sounds super interesting, I heard that just like Arabic, Hebrew is also very heavy on the grammar side of things. Chinese is fun and beautiful, but it is simply the language I find hardest to learn so far because of how flexible it is. I'm not good with tones and I think the only way to be good at Chinese is practicing it nonstop, which is implausible in my situation ;_; Anyway, good luck! I saw some of your NCT reaction videos and I really like your takes of things happening. Thanks for this reaction as well!

One of the things I love about NCT/WayV is that you can actively see/ hear each others progress with languages. Example: Taeyong and Haechan getting more confident in their English skills, Chenle speaking more relaxed in his Korean, and Ten progressing in his Mandarin skills! 💚 I love how they learn from each other 😊

8:50 No, it's perfectly normal. :) Because when you sleep, your brain processes the information learned during the day. That's why it recommended to learn (language, lessons...) before going to bed. So if he speaks Chinese before sleeping, there is a high probability that he dreams in that language. It happened to me several times (not in my dreams tho): I'm French and, for example, when I watched videos presented by a Quebecer while I was drowsy, it was very difficult (or just impossible) for me to speak French properly after that because I had a slightly different accent. x'D And yes, French is very difficult. Even for us ^^'

Hahaha this is so funny! They're hillarious. Anyway this moment reminds me of Dita and Lea SN when they first met. Lea only speaks Korean and Japanese, and Dita only Speaks Indonesian and English. They speak with each other using body language and translator app for sometimes in the dorm untill Jinny came to safe them LOL. I can immagine they acted like this. I'm amazed that people can speak so many languages, like Jinny that speaks Korean, English, Chinese, Japanese, a little bit Spanish, and now she's learning Indonesian. I've learned english since i was in the middle school until now but still can't speak fluently. I tried to learn Japanese and Korean but then I forgot the next day. I stan multilingual queen and king! Have you check SN appearence in Seoul Music Discovery? 5 of them greet us in 5 languages: Korean, English, Japanese, Indonesian, and Chinese (I don't know I think it's Mandarin). They also did dancencover in medley and perform GTB. Please react to it, Alice. Thank you!

you might’ve noticed that the description of the video you reacted to mentioned having respect for their translators- hi hello I am one of the aforementioned translators! KZbin has been very persistent in recommending these reaction videos but honestly? I’m not complaining~ it’s so fun to see what other people think of their multilingual shenanigans. if anyone has any questions, please feel free to ask, I’m happy to answer :)

Yangyang should learn Dutch and Indonesian since Dutch is very similar to German and Indonesian pronunciation (& a lot of words) are similar to Dutch. In my high school we had English, German and French foreign language lessons (all 3 are mandatory the first few years). Dutch high school is intense regarding foreign language learning.
