BRAVO!!!!!!!!

This is an example of ART at its best!! To recognize a great musician, you do not need to hear a virtuoso performance work (many notes at high speed), but quite the opposite. In small musical pieces like this is where one can realice who is who. Alicia de Larrocha exudes musicality and artistry. Without a doubt, one of the greatest pianists. One of the greates Musicians. BRAVO !!!!!!!!

Alicia was a superb pianist, a gift to the world, who played colorful, enchanting music. This piece is so lyrical and delicate. I find this music very pleasant and relaxing. It's a true pleasure to listen to. Sadly, the Spanish composers, de Fall, Granados, Albeniz and Turina are little known in the U.S.; I feel sorry for people who have never heard of them. They are missing so much beauty!

Gracias.
@EthanGansMorse8 жыл бұрын
Saludos Nicole. No me considero experto, pero le daré la mejor explicación que pueda, y la voy a dar en inglés, pues espero que le sirva. Albéniz was a Spaniard and one of Spain's leading proponents of a Spanish "National" school of music in the 1800's. To this end, he collected folk dances of his era and wrote them into his salon-style piano music. In order to promote a new musical literature that celebrated Spanish identity and culture, he named his piano works after Spanish cities--Granada, Cadiz, Mallorca, Asturias--and regional folk songs and dances--Sevillanas, Seguidillas, Malagueña, Curranda, etc. His "Tango" was composed in 1890 and was probably in the "Ida y Vuelta" category of proto-flamenco, meaning Spanish music based on Latin American dances, in this case, the Habanera. "Tango" is still one of the main palos flamencos, but unlike this piece, the Flamenco style never really uses the Habanera rhythm, so it does seem that Albeniz was trying to evoke a "Cuban Habenera" version of a Tango more than a Spanish Flamenco version. He also wrote pieces entitled "Cuba," and we have to keep in mind that Cuba was still PART of Spain in 1890, so maybe he simply considered Cuban music to be another branch of Spanish music. That kind of colonialism is disturbing today, but it was very common in the 1800's. The stigma against Argentine Tango that you're describing probably came from its close association with African slaves and its popularity in brothels, and you're right, it would have been a "low class" kind of music in Argentina in the late 1800's. But you have to remember that Albeniz lived in Paris in the 1890's, not in Buenos Aires, so he was writing European music for a European audience and seeking to celebrate Spanish culture. Hope that helps!
@lourdesm38184 жыл бұрын

@thespian1425111 жыл бұрын
Your comment makes no logical sense. "Musician" describes all who are involved in music; composers, conductors, singers or violinists. It is the "greater" expression and the others are sub-categories. Composers, pianists and other instrumentalists are by definition "musicians". What qualifications do you possess to PRESUME to compare a very short lived pianist who left very few examples of his art, to a veteran musician with an extensive career and discography? You need to take a reality check.
