Singer-songwriter Alicia Keys sits down with Kelefa Sanneh to discuss her off-Broadway musical "Hell’s Kitchen," now playing at The Public Theater in New York City. Beginning in March, the musical will head to Broadway at the Shubert Theatre. Then, Seth Doane travels to Sardinia, Italy, to learn about the Sardinian flatbread called pane carasau. Great piece on Alicia and her upcoming musical. I hope it's a big hit with both audiences & critics, and makes it to Broadway. 🙌🏻 She's an extremely talented musician...Call me selfish 😅, but I would like to hear even more from her, in terms of studio recordings. IAF, it's prob not easy to find the time to sit down at the piano and write new material, while working on the musical, plus co-parenting 5 children. It's hard to believe that she's about to turn 43; IMO, her looks have barely changed since 2001 😍 I hope Swizz Beatz realizes what a lucky man he is.

Never understood why critics have so much power and influence over someone's artistic endeavor. One man's opinion makes no sense.

Hmmm, I thought that the critic they interviewed was actually quite fair. He even admitted a slight bias _toward_ Alicia, saying that he loves her music, and considers it a "soundtrack" (my words) of the past 20 years. His main point is that many "jukebox musicals" are too fluffy & pointless, plot-wise -- and he's right about that.
