Another spooky one already? And a water one at that. You're very brave, I commend you! If you want a more wholesome breed of SCP article, TheVolgun has a video on SCP-5031 "Yet Another Murder Monster", who is probably my favorite SCP. There's also the option of continuing checking out the most famous SCP's first such as SCP-682 who you've been briefly exposed to from your reaction to 999.

@@nothingface5919 same here. I liked the idea of 682 when I first heard it, but I feel it’s IMMENSELY overrated. It was cool when it was a murderous lizard that had really creative takes on adaptive regeneration, less so when it was apparently some kind of eldritch unstoppable nightmare spawn that can recover from literal narrative erasure.

25:10 i made that same mistake as well, kept shutting people out of my life and trying to bottle up all of my emotions, misery, and self-loathing, i didn't even try to get better at first and just wallowed in my own misery for years during highschool. everyone justifiably alienated me and most of my friends abandoned me. the few friends i had left became increasingly concerned for me especially when they started to notice cuts and scrapes on my wrist and bruises underneath my sleeves, waist, and skirt. my grades were plummeting and even the teachers couldn't ignore it anymore. it wasn't until 2 years after i started being this way that my teachers started trying to help in their own messed up way by making classmates befriend me for better grades (i didn't know at first and blindly bought the con, making friends with people whom i thought were really kind to me, only to overhear rumors that they were being bribed into being my friend), so that made my trust in my teachers and anyone befriending me crash and burn. yey. sigh* it was around that time that i met a girl my age who was the complete opposite of me, coming from a filthy rich aristocratic corporate family, extremely extroverted and outgoing to the point that it would be overbearing, very popular with everyone both for her looks, personality, and money. and she approached me of all the people in school and befriended me. i just having experienced a betrayal immediately didn't trust her good intentions and thought she was the teachers latest attempt to coerce me, so i distanced myself from her. but she was very persistent (lmao), and eventually confronted me about it, i became emotional and accused her of all kinds of things, but she affirmed that she had nothing to do with them and that she'd do anything i asked to prove herself (i wont go over what i asked her to because its very personal). but at the end we eventually became friends, and later best friends. she helped me tremendously through arguably the most depressing and turbulent times of my life and still does. i owe so much to her and i could never repay her even if she doesn't want me to. why did she befriend and help me? i honestly didn't know at all for years and i gave up trying to find out why during college, it mattered only that we were unshakeable friends by then. but it didn't stay that way forever, since she was very liberal with her many open relationships with men i never expected her to be into women, let alone confess to me one evening while we were both very very drunk. that went about as well as you'd expect. we ended up together, became very very close, but it didn't last. we're still the best of friends but now there's a bit of a rift between us that was left behind from our intimate relationship, which she now regularly tries to mend with more intimacy (which i find the logic of very baffling). and then there's the whole thing about her helping me and my childhood crush get together with a horribly planned double blind date (which went about as smoothly as you'd imagine), and ultimately made her jealous despite being the matchmaker for this whole situation. its safe to say that despite owing her my life for mending my mind, heart, and soul. she certainly made my life a lot more complicated as well. 🙃 what caused me to be su!c!dally depressed in the first place? hmm... lets just say i made a lot of really bad calls... i had a crush on a boy (yes same guy i'm with now over a decade later) who wasn't even popular but i didn't have the courage to confess to him. so i made arguably the dumbest decision of my life and started going out with another boy who confessed to me before, i don't even know why i did this. i feel so dumb in hindsight... anyway so that went about as well as you'd expect, i had no feelings for him and he'd snap at me for being disinterested. he'd get vindictive and spiteful whenever i looked at any other guy (even my little brother) and especially my crush, whom he apparently noticed i had in his words "dreamy eyes for". we started arguing a lot until it reached a breaking point just less than a year in, i violently & very publicly broke up with him and i got punished (brutally ræpd in a dark alley) for it horribly and depending on who you ask, justifiably. do i hate him for it? what do you think. do i feel guilty about it? every single day. i sometimes still have nightmares about him and cry for the rest of the evening, i can't experience even mildly forceful "intimacy" from a man without triggering a psychotic episode.. thanks to my friends and my best friend i recovered from androphobia (which i had left out until now) but i still feel irrationally insecure when i'm alone in a room or elevator with men i don't know. there was once a time when i thought i never had any regrets and will never have any regrets, now i'm haunted by this very naive thought from a much younger innocent self who would be disappointed in herself today. but i can say that i am happy now at least.

Phobias are always super interesting to me, since people talking about them rarely emphasize the irrational part of the irrational fear and/or aversion of something. Like, i'd say i'm freaked out by the ocean. Swimming in the ocean does not sound appealing to me at all, and if i'm traveling on a ship, i would rather stay indoors the whole time than look outside. I however, have no problems looking at images of oceans or playing videogames that take place in large bodies of water like Subnautica. The fact that she's getting freaked out from seeing pictures fascinates me so much, and is a great example of what is the difference between a fear and a phobia.

I don't know if this would be a suggestion for this or for the xlife channel, but I do recommend "if the emperor had a text to speech device" and "Hunter: the Parenting" Both series from Busa Alfabusa, the first being about the emperor from 40k getting, as the name implies, a text to speech device and catching up on the dumb shit the empire has been doing for the past 10,000 years, along with starting to lead again + other stuff. The second is set in the World of Darkness universe (think modern day stuff involving vampires, werewolves, wizards, etc; but hidden from the common man) and involves a family of hunters. Both are comedic, also having a fair share of drama and intrigue going on as well

Since we are on SCP 3000 and your biggest fear I recommend the next in line: SCP 3001 Red Reality. By the same channel Exploring Series. This SCP was the most disturbed I personally was while listening to an SCP entry.

I know many are recommending SCP-4999 (and it is pretty wholesome) though there is also more tales about the SCP-999 the Tickle Monster, as well as SCP-7000, which is about the unluckiest man in the world, though the story is strangely wholesome with him making friends and saving the world (avoiding heavy spoilers).❤

Man, memory trip seeing SCP-3000. There's also the shark one. As much I want to recommend that one, I want you to take a break from your fear of the ocean and Idon't remember the number. I do recommend other SCPs done by TheVolgun such as: -SCP-6373 (The Stage Blight) Keter, now Neutralized -SCP-3288 (The Aristocrats) Keter -SCP-1678 (Unlondon) Euclid Another channel named Infame Kato - Manotas Pro did Unlondon. Infame talks about Unlondon and does an experiment log of SCP-1678-A1. TheVolgun has talks more of the other SCPs within Unlondon. I'll let you decide which to watch. I do recommend seeing Infame Kato - Manotas Pro's SCP-1337 (The Hitch Hiker). He does an interview log of the doctor that was in charge of monitoring SCP-1337.

You know as hard as it was for you watch the video i’m very glad you’ve started watching the Exploring Series videos for SCP. TheVolgun is great at reading and presenting the SCPs as they are on the wiki website, but The Exploring series likes to search deeper and connect the dots of things written in SCP files and answer the questions many people have well reading many confusing or just crazy world building SCPs. Also has some great videos of the different GoI(Groups of Interest) in the SCP universe.

This is really interesting there was an episode of an old show, I think Babylon 5? One of the better thinky sort of sci-fi anyway, it positied the question of personality death. A serial killer rather than receiving capital punishment in the form of an execution, had their mind wiped with advanced medical tech and psionics and was taken into a religious order who looked after the lost and disaffected. He subsequently became a good man and worked hard to help those in need. Anyway one of his previous victims family members tracked him down tortured then killed the man subsequently had the same procedure done, even taking up the place of the man he murdered. The commander of the station went to confront the second man when he was stopped by the head of the religious orders chapter. "Forgiveness is the hardest part of my job, commander. It is also the most important." I believe was the quote that faded the episode out. Bloody brilliant! Just chills. I have thought back to that... is errasing all that a person has experienced, know and felt really any kinder than an execution? It keeps "societies" hands clean in a sense that their is no body to dispose of, the different seems purely practical rather than moral however. This was one of the points of the episode of course. I have CPTSD, depression, anxiety I understand the desire to just erase horrific shit from my past to try and heal at what stage of erasing that do I stop being me and become 😅 probably a healthier version of myself. But inspite of everything I like my pain? I'm strong, resilient and kind because of it. I have empathy rather than mere sympathy, when doctors keep telling me that's not possible and those doctors can spin on it. Grow up in a home where your ability to not get beaten is equal to your ability to read others emotions and you'll become a pro. Once you can read you can also feel, its not dissimilar to how deaf folk only gain an inner monologue once they can sign, lip read or write, and it's part of what makes coclier implants SOOOO important. WTF am i even on about anymore...
