This guy is a prime example of early installment weirdness. The only SCP ever to have a standing kill order, and one that many other scps were created for just to show off how fucking OP he is. When it comes to writing quality, 682 is a little lacking. But him, alongside SCP-173 are so iconic to the Foundation that we can't get rid of them. Over the years some of the attempts to destroy him have gotten admittedly more elaborate and creative, and i want to name drop one SCP in particular that is pretty out there in craziness, but spoilers I guess.

He cannot die, because he technically isn't alive in any way we know. Imagine if Schrodinger's Cat hated life and could kill everything. He is essentially an absolute fact of the universe, and the only proper way to kill him, is to kill everything else as well.

On a meta level, 682 is not just a product of early SCP weirdness, it's a contingency. There was little to no quality control and the site became full of dumb OP monsters with no weaknesses. There were so, so many people who wanted to write a dark edgy demigod creature that defied containment and was destined to destroy the world, and it was really cringe. Enter 682, the ultimate monster. It's every edgy monster wrapped into one to the point of parody, and one of the most popular skips to boot, so nobody can ever write another edgy monster again.

Personal experience; people usually start off liking keter the best but later on tend towards euclid. Doesn't happen all the time, but (especially for people who have been in it for a while) the way that keter SCPs tend to just gradually try to one up each other gets a bit boring while euclids often feel a bit more... fae, I guess. Like they aren't actively trying to destroy you, but could absolutely ruin your day without even meaning to and you won't even understand why.

my personal favorites are neutralized and safe with a side of euclids, in a world filled with so much reality bending mischief it makes a lot of sense to me that there's a lot of fun/weird anomalies who aren't just "murderfuck 5000, AND THEN THERE WAS ULTRA REALISTIC GORE... AND THEY WAS SENTIENT THROUGH THE TORMENT" and are just... weird anomalies with possibly worrying implications like 1609, 1470 or 2662 or that one infinite bag of potatoes or the polite coffee machine, it makes the universe feel more "real" in a way that not every anomaly is a body horror lovecraftian entity with malicious intent, some things are just chillin and don't make sense, just anomalies.

I agree for the most part but with these times of videos you can just focus on the best of the best. Really doesn’t matter which type it is. Might be best to do the main introduction scps and then focus of different factions so the building blocks are more flesh out for the story type ones.

682 is an entity I have mixed feelings on; it's certainly an iconic aspect of the lore, and if nothing else the sheer variety of ways the Foundation has attempted to kill this thing is rather amusing, but in a lot of ways it's not an especially interesting anomaly on its own. A lot of people have since attempted to reimagine the character (in particular the site's most prolific author, DJKaktus, who for a while has been hard at work on a revised version of 682's original article that's more in line with the site's modern tone), and some of those reimaginings are honestly way more interesting than the original lizard.

682 suffers from that early Foundation problem of everyone wanting to make an indestructable monster that destroys everything. Even the "rage state" thing is a relic of that. It's basically that one kid who makes up new rules for their character on the fly so that nothing can hurt them. It sounds cool on paper, but gets extremely boring in practice.

A common trope for SCP years back was to cross test it with a lot of new deadly SCPs, which is why cross testing is kinda cringe now. Minor spoiler for a -J SCP: There is a -J which is an anomalous catapult that unerringly launches anything into the sun. The inevitable note about launching 682 with it was that "it came back on fire", with no additional context given.

The reason why the end mentions "not hitting the sun" is because there was a common fear that if 682 was to ever be shot out into space and it was pulled into the Sun via the gravitational pull, then 682 would redirect the Sun itself to be on a collision course with Earth.

In game SCP: Containment Breach you never meet 682... you only hear moment when it escapes from its containment and from then on, there is small chance for background sounds of machine guns shooting followed by deafening roars and building starts to shake violently for few moments before it ends and it is safe to assume, 682 ate all guards and continues its attempt to escape outside. When you get to outside and sneak past guards, SCP-682 isn't far behind you as you get bit farther you hear alarms and ALL guards, tanks and helicopters head to one of gate. You only saw one of its arms in form of tentacle taking down a helicopter, only that one body part yet it felt really dangerous.

Ooo this is one of the more famous ones. You pretty much can't escape this one. The tickle monster one was genuinely adorable. You think he tastes like an orange popscicle? I haven't thought about, but maybe orange Crush or a Jolly Rancher. 079 was the computer, wasnt it? I don't really recall. 682 can adapt to basically everything, and somehow even turned 999's tickling into a weapon. I don't really see how the acid vat keeps him contained.
