Girlll this movie is one for the history books it's perfect. It has this ominous feel to it as well this isolated vibe. I like how classic it is, this film came out in 1979 and because it's so minimalist in terms of effects it never looks dated. Kinda like Jaws and the Raiders of the Lost Art movies.

You're so keyed in to the music! I do that, too! Maybe a reason it didn't win the Oscar is because Ridley Scott swapped in Howard Hansen's Symphony No. 2 over the end credits: it was a beautiful and iconic choice (even if it justifiably angered Jerry Goldsmith), but possibly some Academy voters thought it rendered the score "incomplete."

Alien is in my top favorite films, during the 70s they were supposed to make Dune, and it was going to be an acid trip of a film, they even talked to Pink Floyd to make an original score, but the supposed budget was ridiculously expensive, however the set designs and concept art was used for the film Alien

One of Ridley Scott’s best films. If ALIEN is one of the best Sci-Fi horror films of all time then James Cameron’s ALIENS is one of the best Sci-Fi Action films of all time. Perfect time to watch ALIEN since May 25th marks the film’s 45th Anniversary! Also this year on August 16th in theaters we have a new film coming out called ALIEN: ROMULUS that is helmed by Fede Álvarez (Director of EVIL DEAD 2013 reimagining and DON’T BREATHE) and it takes place in between Ridley Scott’s ALIEN and James Cameron’s ALIENS. A cool thing to know about the film is the original effects designers from ALIENS created all the practical effects work.

Extension from last comment Hey girl here's a list of a few gems I promised you. but here's a few of some insane, good, and crazy ones you might enjoy. 1. Phenomena 1985 with Jennifer Connelly this film inspired a video game franchise called Clock tower 2.: Frogs 1972 all I'll say is nature comes back for revenge 3: Rats: Night of terror: 1984 :The woman who becomes a demon after putting on a mask in the film Demons, is in this. 4: Death on the Nile 1978: This has a cast of iconic actresses Maggie Smith, Bette Davis, Angela Lansbury, Mia Farrow 5. Puppet Master 1989: Chucky wouldn't last 5 minutes with this group lol 6: Intruder 1989: the creator of Evil dead and his brother have acting roles in this gem. I give kudos for coming up with a new location then the usual areas a horror takes place. 7: Haunted Honeymoon 1986: I thought we cleanse the pallet with a little horror comedy. I've only this to say about it... You're going to Love Aunt Kate.

Space Balls is indeed parodying John Hurt's eruptive meal just like this movie. That why John hurt says in Space Balls 'not again'. There's a deleted scene where Ripley does find some crew being turned into eggs. The issue is readdressed in Aliens. Brett screams alerting Ripley and Parker. Dialog suggest they got there fast enough to the alien climbing up the landing strut bay.

girl, I just rewatched a science fiction film that I think will blow your mind. You might like it because once the main characters get into the place you forget your're in space and in a ship. the film is called "Magnetic Rose" I think it's a mid 90's film maybe 80's. a space crew get a distress signal, they investigate and when they get inside the ship ...Girl they walked straight into Versailles. it's like astronauts just stopped into a rococo phantom of the opera vampire lair. It gets worse when they discover an insane woman who owns the ship who haunts it through deadly holographic cyber bots and laser shooting cubid bird fountain statues lmao! one thing I pre-warn it is an animated horror, but has been dubbed a forgotten masterpiece.

Yaphet Kotto and Billy Dee Williams don't get the total props in their part in two of cinema's big sci fi franchises. The props being at the time that Williams appeared in Empire Strikes Back and Kotto appeared in Alien, they were the two recently active biggest box office STARS that were in those films. Kotto was the only one in the cast to be the headliner in his own films up to that point and williams was a big star who also headlined his own movies in the seventies compared to most of the cast in Empire. But sci fi/horror fans ignore this fact.

@@SistaGurlonFilms Well both williams and yaphet were stars of several blaxploitation movies which that genre was credited as saving hollywood up to the mid 70s because most mainstream movies were flops at the time but the blaxploitation movies were hits and billy dee was in a movie with diana ross which was a massive hit at the time. so they were stars by the time they appeared in those movies. Harrison ford who was in star wars became a bonafide star in box office after empire when he did raiders of the lost ark. before that he didnt headline a movie or proved he was a draw yet.

All of the subliminal sexual imagery you thought you saw in the film, you actually did see. Alien is laced with it. If you re-watch the film with that in mind, you’ll notice that subtle, and not so subtle, sexual imagery seems nearly everywhere. Alien is based on the art of Swiss surrealist, H.R. Geiger. Google his name along with the term, Necronomicon’. Geiger’s art is a mix of bio-mechanical horror, and sexual stimulation. Ridley Scott masterfully includes Geiger’s art to heighten the horror of Alien. Fear, and sexual arousal both set the nervous system on alert. They are two sides of the same coin, as it were. Scott laces Alien with sexual cues so to sub-consciously stimulate the audience’s autonomic nervous systems. Then, when something scary does happen, it’s all the more fear inducing.
