Yeah I enjoyed the SNES version too. You could choose what mission to do (rescue the prisoners, repair the junction boxes etc), the combat was much crisper, and the graphics were quite nice for the time

Could've made it like Clock Tower; survival horror, one-hit and you're dead, hiding alien with impending terror and repeating musical motif every time it shows up, prisoners to keep alive through interacting with and making suggestions as to where they hide/how they work to capture the creature, the unstable Golic betraying you half way through after you capture it. It might've been fun to play... but they didn't make it like that. I prefer the Master System version over the NES. The two are similar; surprisingly the SNES and Genesis are quite different ^^

Draketheamazing 1.8MC LJN stopped existing years ago. They were purchased by Acclaim in the 90's. Acclaim then made the SNES version of Alien 3 which is actually decent.

There is a shotgun, revolver, flamethrower, pipe bombs, bolt gun etc. They don't work on alien but you can kill androids or human targets. So it's not there are no weapons at all. But even without weapons I wouldn't be bored with this game. It's just good game, not perfect but good with great feeling you are in ALIEN MOVIE.

My personal opinion: Alien 3 wasn't THAT bad of a movie. Sure, it really sucks that they killed off most of the characters, Ripley and company included, but the rest of the movie was still pretty damn good. Has the right atmosphere and suspense, and a decent amount of humor. And the scenes where Ripley and the convicts devise their plans for trapping/killing the Alien were some of the best in the whole series.

I haven't seen it in some time but that was my impression as well. It was a decent enough film on its own, not bad, but I also felt like it was unnecessary and a slap in the face for those who enjoyed the implied happy ending of Aliens. I also feel much the same about Terminator 3. And I must have a thing with 3's, because I feel *almost* the same about Back to the Future 3, but the difference there is it all worked out okay in-universe.

The problem with LJN was that they weren't really a video game company. They were a toy company that tried to make video games. They either didn't have the skills to make them or were too cheap to hire more experienced game designers. Apparently, their toys weren't very good either.

You know, I was just sitting there playing Fallout 3 while watching this, I heard him say is this game scary, and then the sound of the ljn logo literally made me jump. Maybe I shouldn't Vault Hunt anymore. (Oh, and can you review the original Fallout game? I've heard it came out in like 1997, so maybe it'll be good. Maybe it'll be an ljn game but made by a different company. I'll never know because I can't get it. [Don't own the systems.])

the first three fallout games were made by Interplay, who are not Ljn. Fallout is also considered a classic game, and was unique and innovative at the time of its release, and AVGN only reviews shitty games.

Apparently, this was the last game made by LJN, well during the NES era. Their last games were Spider-Man and True Lies for the SNES in 1995, possibly a year after LJN's defunction in 1994. *UPDATE* : According to Gaming Historian, the actual final game made by LJN is "Spirit of Seed 1937" for the Sega Dreamcast, which was in 1999, five years after it shut down. My apologies for this mistake.

About this "A is for jumping and B is for shooting" thing. Well, when I'm thinking about it for some time, it's actually makes some sense in terms of this particular game. The thing is - the A button on a NES controller is located more closely to your right arm's thumb. So pressing this button is little less difficult for you when it comes to reaction. So in Mario games, for example, jumping is what helps you to deal with all the enemies and obstacles (and those games has many of 'em). More simple, it's your main instrument throughout the entire game. Indeed developers makes A button for jumping since it is faster and little less tricky for a player to press it. And for the Alien 3 your important thing is shooting, because defeating an enemy in this game needs faster reaction than jumping or climbing to something. So it's more comfortable for the player to have "shoot" button as close to fingers as possible. And that's why, in my opinion, they've made shooting on the A button. P.S. Game still sucks by the way. P.P.S. Sorry for my English if there is something wrong with it.

Xenophobe was always one of my favorite alien games. The arcade game was EPIC. Especially if you had three people playing. The NES version was decent enough. Fun to grab a friend and muck about for a few hours.
