Alien 4 NEWTS Resurrection! Cloned Newt instead of Ripley! Early Draft Idea

This should have been Alien Resurrection. They could have brought both. Newt had no other known family so she could have been an experiment that no one would trace to any other human. Cloning her from the time she died and accelerating her growth to mold her into a killing machine. Sort of like a super soldier or something like Buffy the vampire slayer, a TV show Joss Whedon was involved in. Ripley could be in it for a little bit but like all the other failed experiments, her body couldn't handle the Alien DNA and she died. Or better yet, she finds Newt is there and what has been done and succeeds where the originals fail and rescues Newt once again, this time saving her for good. It is a good way of passing the torch to Newt and emphasizing that the saga isn't and shouldn't be centered solely around Ripley.

@@DJRitty I know, it sucks that Fischer hates his own movie, but he’s gone on to do to do well. Vincent Ward is actually the one who wrote Newt dying into the script.. for the pure reason that “He found her annoying”

I think any change that would have avoided the "newborn" would have been a good one. To me the Xenomorph design was always one of the things that made the franchise special, because despite how scary it was, it still looks elegant and cool. The "newborn" lacks all of that. It looks like some half melted pile of sludge that you'd expect to scream "kill me" all the time. It even has the puppy dog stare at times. That thing fits as badly into the franchise as the space Aliens did in Indian Jones.

Resurrection is my favorite of the franchise right up until the newborn shows up and ruins it.

They added the puppy look so it could ‘guilt’ and express some emotion; in short you’re suppose to feel something towards it, hence why it’s death was supposed to be a big horrible deal. Imagine having a alien like the newborn be the focus of the movie instead of the aliens; possibly have the Xenos be a red haring to be ‘oh we know these fuckers are responsible’ Then we find this guy, giving this cute look, puppy eyes and emotions throughout the film, it’ll show some intelligence or at least reactions. In the book it also showed regeneration and damaged itself as it forced itself through the vents to follow Ripley I feel like it could’ve been used to a decree of cute-like moments, then it getting mad and making a mess of things I also like that the clone Xenos are more brutish, Kinda like the Rouge alien to some degree Ripley is suppose to have a telopathic connection to the newborn so when it dies or feels something she can sense it It’ll be like Pumpkin head to a degree with her

Dang man, that's really interesting! 👀 I had no clue about the clone concept for Newt, and that's actually really neat to think about ^^ Though it is tricky to come up with a way of why she was cloned right off the bat for the audience to agree with. It's been so long since I've seen Resurrection, but it is hard to think of what could've been without looking at Alien 3. Now, I know that movie has a lot of hate, but I gotta admit, I like the prison setting, and the concept of an alien taking a form similar to a dog 👀 So yeah, it really is fascinating to think what could've been, but I think it would be more simpler if Alien 3 got thrown out of canon, just for the sake of Newt growing up to kick butt. That'd be the easy route tho 👀 Still, the idea of a genetically modified Newt working with corporate mercenaries sounds like a fun time if it's pulled off really well 👀 It's a neat opportunity to see a different side of how the world works in the Alien universe. On film, we've mostly seen... space truckers, colonists finding a new home, a small batch of colonial marines, and investigating this and that. The prison didn't seem that well populated from what I remember 😅 But, a story where corporate overlords are at each other's throats, with xenos playing a big part, and a badass Newt being caught in the middle, if that's in the hands of the right director, it'd be a real butt kicker 👀 For real though man, love the vid ^^ It's always fun speculating and brainstorming with the details you share, keep up the great work, and stay safe out there 👍

This version would have made the series viable especially considering what we got. The only thing that even comes close to making amends was alien versus predator versus terminator.

I just want awakening (that ends with super jockey killing david but succombing to the chesburster which is the QUEEN and in his final act he becomes the beacon that leads the nostromo there) and then a final sigourney romp (maybe they use the goo to save the destroyed earth) and then they can reboot away...lol

I'd love to see ripley take a group of CLONES of past alien film characters to go wipe out the homeworld lol Something could go wrong in the cloning to explain why their all old...too bad paxton isn't around RIP

I don't think this swap would e made much difference. If Newt had been given the lead in Alien 3, they could've launched a whole new series of films with that new character's adventures. They really must stop killing off the main characters.

Ripley's storyline was ruined after Alien 3, they did Newt & Hix dirty by killing them off in the intro and a prison cult planet is least interesting location for a xenomorph outbreak.

No. Resurrection is canon and there's no one that can change that. The Newborn is fascinating and brilliant. It achieved what it set out to do. All the haters can talk about "what if" till they're blue in their faces and that still will not change Ripley's history and journey. It is what it is. The reality of the franchise is that 1 through 4 are canon. Besides, Resurrection is far better than the insipid, uninspired, bland Alien3.

Your extrapolation on the narrative impact of cloning Newt are… weird. Like, there is no reason to believe the film would focus on a clone of Newt and NO other clones. It would be the same flick, just w/ a different protagonist. Otherwise the USSMC is really, REALLY dumb.
