Those Aliens would have been even more scared if they had known humans survive on their Deathworld because they are its apex predator. Diana could have quite some fun there, for instance mentioning to an Alien that he resembles a chicken, and then adding that humans eat chicken, lots of it.

This idea of Deathworlds and the unlikeliness of their ability to produce and support sentient life is actually a decent explanation for why the planets in No Man's Sky are so "dead" for lack of a better word. If developing life is as fragile as this series is suggesting, it would make sense that humans developing on Earth is an anomaly and why NMS has millions of explorable planets but only three sentient lifeforms. Just a thought that occurred to me because I'd never thought the lack of racial variety in NMS was very realistic but this does explain that nicely.

I don't buy into the idea of intelligent life cannot live on death world except for Earth which is exception. In order for something to evolve that must be a need. It can be as simple as avoiding predators or hunting down your pray or how to keep yourself warm or cool during extreme weather changes. I can see peaceful species evolving as well as aggressive species or somewhere in between. There must be a balance between the two aspects otherwise the prey will never conquer the predator and the predator species will take themselves out by being too aggressive an effective. If there was a planet where there's no scarcity and no predators then the herbivores would dominate the planet or have to be plant-based species. I can forgive plant bass species being on a peaceful world sense of food comes from the sun. But why would they need intelligence to get the sunlight they need and what advantages would that have to be intelligent. Herbivore species will attend to eat and multiply until there is a scarcity problem. Once the security problem occurs Evolution will eventually make predators to the herbivores to balance the population density. This will make any world a predatory deathworld if it has a species that requires a resource to survive. I probably can come similar stuff for changing weather and disaster for "deathworld". The only way I could see such a peaceful Universe except for Earth is through time. Truthfully today most things are not very dangerous to us. We are the most dangerous thing. We're protected from almost all weather except for the most extreme and we usually have warnings for those. We hunted the most dangerous animals to extinction or to a point where we control them almost completely. Given enough time we could make a completely peaceful world especially if we can get our (metal and energy) scare resources when we travel through the Galaxy. Definitely forget how dangerous Earth was then we could become a peaceful planet . Then we could be shocked by more primitive world who hasn't completely tamed the planet yet.

For the record, all simians (apes and monkeys) have forward facing eyes. Most of these are herbivores. The binocular vision allows us to move quickly through tree branches. Humans and our ancestors were arboreal long before we were carnivorous.

Most primates are omnivores actually, only a few limited species are herbivores and are so because they were forced due to environmental changes to revert to herbivore diet.
