A lot of people hate alien covenant because they want it to go back to its "good" old days but really the only goood alien movie we had was the original, james cameron's aliens was cool but it lost its focus, it was never about action its about being scary, mistery, the darkness of space, sexuality, and much much more. I think in my own opinion that Ridely Scott saved the Alien franchise and that Covenant is the second best film sinse the original in my opinion

@@lucasdaniel7497 Dumb crew (going in to new world without any protection from biological components) looked completely untrained for world population mission. Elizabeth death was wasted, we could have seen her and David explore so much more when what we got an off screen death. Later movie becomes generic alien hunt movie survival that we seen hundreds of times . I mean I enjoyed the movie a lot cause David is literally one of my favourite characters. But so much wasted potencial its just yikes.

I like that the theme of the movie and the atmosphere fits in the Alien lore. I wouldn’t change the name at all, Alien was missing the more serious tone stories from the original and Prometheus and Covenant gave me that. I just wish we would of got more from the movie that would of really brought the whole Alien feel to the movie but due to all the cuts and changes, we were left with what we got. Personally I would love to see the real full Alien Covenant like Ridley intended but hopefully we get a wrap up to David’s arc and a full ending to this whole story.

I think it's just a matter of personal preference if one likes these movies or not. Personally, I prefer Prometheus and the Covenant among my favorites. The question of creation and other deep existential philosophical reflections raise questions in even the simplest individual that cannot be compared to the original Alien trilogy. If one reads the original script from the cut Prometheus scene where David communicates with the Engineer, everything becomes understandable, even the most obscure spots. Disappointed in humanity and forced to wipe the end result of their ill-fated work off the face of the earth. It even contains other references to Jesus' crucifixion, for example, when Shaw states that the decapitated corpse has been dead for about 2,000 years (+-). The plot of the film takes place in 2091, so it is probably the last straw, that is, the decision was finally made then. Ridley Scott's hands may have been tied by a ravaged Hollywood due to a huge outcry. It could have provoked representatives of different religions if such a hidden reference had been brought to the screen. In the cut scene, the Engineer talks about how they created the perfect Paradise (Eden) for us, we had everything we needed to develop civilly, we were their best creatures amongst all, yet we were letting our world perish.

It's about David's perception of the beauty of the xenomorph and what he's created. Obviously, it isn't beautiful it's horrific, but the music transports us into David's POV. The cut to Walter finding Shaw is simply to hint at Shaw's key role in this twisted act of creation. And we then see David grieving Shaw playing the flute ​because the loss and creation were linked. In his twisted way, David sees the xenomorph as his tribute to Shaw.
