A lot of people are complaining that David said "Das Rheingold, Act II" upon requesting this song from mother, saying that Das Rheingold has no Act II, and that this is from Scene IV. It's like they don't realize that this was probably intentional, as in this very same film, David mistakes Ozymandias as being one of Byron's works. It's to show that he isn't as perfect as he thinks he is.

I don't think, that's in the original piece (btw it's composed for a full orchestra. not just for a gigantic awkward brass-section. Ashame considering how Wagner mastered to colour his pieces by paying close attention to the sound of each instrument). In the beginning, there is also a motiv, that's associated with Hagen in Götterdämmerung, that I know for sure, isn't in the original. And also, neither of them would make sense in the particular context.
@davidlabelle3616 жыл бұрын
It’s a different installment of “The Ring”. Das Rheingold is part one. Die Walküre is part two, Siegfried is part three, and Götterdämmerung is part four. This “Ride” of which you speak, is Act III of Die Walküre. There, your daily episode of “Dave’s bullshit trivia that’s gotten him nowhere in life” is now over.
@1davidpeter7 жыл бұрын
having been listening to the real Rheingold for the last 35 years and seen it several times live with singers, I suspect that Wagner will be turning in his grave at this rendition but strangely enough I quite like it's bombastic shamlessness especially at 1.00 where the giant brass band really goes mad in a way that wouldn't be dared on the stage. Yeah, why not,......... turning in his grave maybe, but Wagner would have still taken the money and been glad that the world was hearing more of his music than just The Ride of The Valkyries!
@advokata7 жыл бұрын
I doubt that Wagner would be turning in his grave. Why should he? If I was an artist, I'd be flattered if people still took my art seriously enough over 100 years later to make "covers" of it.
@1davidpeter7 жыл бұрын
...thats why I said maybe......but bearing in mind the work he lavished upon the original and his ambitions to have the work performed exactly as he intended, being a great artist as he was, I think he would be disappointed that it was so roughly treated - but who knows, - he's dead.

The "Alien" idea was wrongly deveopled in this excelent movie. The original idea of showing the destruction of a entire civilization was lost in the course of the film and replaced by the old stereotype of the creature of science fiction that chases the crew of some spaceship.
